I have a logical and ‘lore-driven’ solution as to why Elites can be in matchmaking.
Lore: The Elites are a big part of Halo 5, and the Arbiter’s Swords of Sanghelios (SoS) are working along side the UNSC.
Logical: There must be other missions that the UNSC and SoS have worked on together, and I think there might be some more UNSC-SoS missions in Halo 6.
Lore: The Elite teams are allowed to fight alongside Spartans in War Games so they can have a better understanding of each other’s fighting skills, so that when they go onto a real battle field, they work better as team.

i think they will be playable in Halo 6 especially since they are in the books as well as working alongside the UNSC
I never played as the Elites very often cause I just never was attracted to them in the sense as a avatar, but if they disappear I will be extremely disappointed and sad.
