4/7? We only played them in 2-3 -Reach

> Just curious, why are playable elites so important to you guys?

I can say that playable Sangheili is rather important due to the fact that it started a sub-community back in Halo 2. Some players solely played as Sangheili and refused otherwise, which is in itself a subjective way to play but some people preferred it. Others enjoyed the variety in PVP as one player may be a Spartan, and another may be a Sangheili which kept things interesting visually in Matchmaking. It can assist Machinamators with various Machinima work so that they may make things that include the Sangheili as well.

There are perks and benefits that may not effect the grand community as a whole, but there is definitely an audience for it and due to such that audience would like them to return. It isn’t something that people are asking for Spartans to be removed so that Sangheili may be entered in their stead. As that would be nonsensical. We simply want their addition back, for various reasons a few as mentioned above. It’s all around more content as well if you must look at it in this manner.

Well then technically elites were in 4/8 games then.

I know these are baseless examples, but I really hate when playable Elites (a cosmetic feature) is compared to things that carry vastly more weight.

What you’re doing here is comparable to saying a weapon skin is as important as having weapons in the game.

Yes technically… that’s where playable elites started was with modders on halo ce pc. Then bungie added it to halo 2 and we had it until halo 4. So technically 4/7 fps halo games have playable elites. Also technically 5 out of every halo has playable elites since we could play them in halo wars.

I would also have to agree with A6ENT here, I may wish for playable Sangheili to return. Though debating over how many games they have been a part of doesn’t help either side in this discussion. It isn’t supporting them returning, nor was it really answering the question as to why we want them back. Which is what all these responses stem from.

Well that’s Halo Wars so really 5 but really 4.

True. Well it would not only affect gameplay as an aesthetic but also add a whole new feel to thease new halos. As you mentioned it will also help the machinima community. But with them we can also have game modes such as invasion, elite slayer, blarg ball, and more crazy games 343 could come up with. We could probably have VS from firefight again where one team was elites with the AI helping them and the others were just the Spartans. Plus since they have bigger hit boxes they would be an easier kill for new players. But while we would be at that disadvantage it is our choice to do that to ourselves.

To address your points on why the option should return, I have to say the “visual variety” bit has been done through armor permutations (which H2 obviously lacked).

As for those that want to play the role of Sangheili warriors, I honestly think the best thing to advocate for is a game dedicated to such an experience. Think of a Sangheili-centric spin-off title (using H5’s engine and much of its existing assets) with its own Campaign and multiplayer. Heck, I’m not much of an Elite advocate and if still buy that in a heartbeat.

Like have it be entirely elite based… we could have it take place during the civil war on Sanghelios.

Also yay we got this back up to popular topics! Where it rightfully belongs.

I would too if its about the guys who were with the Arbiter in Halo 3. Usze and Ntho and Rtas and Thel as a Fire Team would be cool.

That would be a cool way to play with the mechanics. As he said it would use assets from halo 5 so we could have the revive thing if all 4 of them were a fire team.

Yes but I had a thread about this and is all about Elite abilities will be.

What if instead of Arbiter, you played as Jul Mdama? Like, before he was…starts to cringe… You know.
