Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

How many sacrifices to the 777 demons does it take to add elites?

Too -Yoinking!- many. We must throw our wallets in a fire and dance around them in a traditional Sangheili dance.

> I’m not sure if 343 is thinking about bringing Elites / Sangheili back to Halo multiplayer or not, but I’ve been hearing a lot of fans asking for it and saying they “NEED” to return. And I REALLY don’t want this to happen. I HATED that players could chose to play as an Elite in Halo 2 and 3. Those who played as an Elite had an unfair advantage, especially in game types like SWAT. Elites were significantly harder to kill from behind because their heads were kind of hunched forward, making them harder to headshot from behind with a precision weapon when they had no shields. This made me feel like I had to chose an Elite in order to be competitive, even though I didn’t want to play as one, and that’s not fair.

> For those who want to play as an Elite, you can simply wear the Helioskrill armor, which looks very similar to an Elite, but without the screwed up head position. I really hope 343 never adds Elites to Halo multiplayer again. Playable Elites should die with Halo 3, like dual wieldable weapons, and never, ever return. Both just hurt Halo’s sandbox and competitiveness. 343 got so many things right with Halo 5, I hope they don’t question their good decisions and backtrack on them.

It doesn’t really make sense then, story-wise, for the UNSC to just invite a bunch of Sangheili to play with them all the time. It’s suppose to be somewhat of a training simulation for Spartans in the UNSC, isn’t it? We’re Spartans.
>
> P.S. I’m all for playable Sangheili in the Campaign, I just never want to see them in PVP again.

Did anyone read my post? It’s been proven (many times) that they held NO ADVANTAGE. They used the same hitboxes as Spartans (though this was changed in Reach).
Here’s some ancient footage of someone equally annoyed as me for saying this:

What? You meant that it was harder to see their heads from behind and knew this already? If it wasn't obvious to shoot them in the back of the neck then I don't think you have much hope playing SWAT in MCC or whatever... Also, I'm sure somewhere in the lore Elites do actually use the War Games simulation to train. Mainly with other Elites...

Even in Halo 3 it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Sure in SWAT it can be harder to hit their head from the back, which doesn’t really matter if you’re shooting somebody who can’t see you in SWAT anyway because they might as well already be dead, but that awkward head pointing out in front of them is also impossible to miss from any other direction especially the side. All still irrelevant because there wouldn’t be Spartans and Elites in standard SWAT in the first place.

Unless they expect half their Spartans to rebel at some point. Ha.

Uh, NO. Halo 2 had the same problem with Elites. And it’s not ONLY in SWAT. It’s any time an Elite is no-shields with their back towards you. If they are restricted to Elite-only game modes, that would be fine, but pointless in my opinion. Why should 343 waste time making separate multiplayer games for Elites? It’s such a stupid, pointless idea. Well there were Elites in Slayer and SWAT in Halo 2 and 3, so I was just saying I don’t want that to ever happen again.

What? Where is this explained in any story? I know ONI has a Sangheili working for them, but that doesn’t explain a bunch of them playing in Wargames. It does not make sense at all! In what way does it make sense?

Ugh, I really hate ignorant people, first, the only bug on the Elites was an invulnerable neck, but you can shoot all the rest of their body that is bigger than a Spartan’s.

Second, the ANVIL initiative is canon, it consists on many Spartans and Elites training on War Games simulations, there is also the fact that the Infinity has an Invasion game mode on the comics.

Show me this video where they prove Elites have no advantage in Halo 2 AND 3. Don’t see any “ancient footage”.

Never heard of that happening.

It’s more show me where is the proof that Elites are OP, Reach’s were stronger than a Spartan, but you are talking about H2’s and H3’s, you may be the first person I see arguing they give any advantage, were that true, a lot more of people would have played as Elite, and that definitely didn’t happen.

Yeah, it’s clear you never heard of that, that’s why I call you ignorant, but you can spend at much 2 minutes to Google it or read the comic, unless you are so lazy to do so.

> Looks like someone is afraid of a little challenge! XD Also I fail to see how having duel wielding and Elites hurts halos sandbox and competitiveness. If anything it adds more and makes things more competitive. Isn’t using your advantages the name of the game? Spartans are smaller targets so spray and pray weapons are not as effective on them as they are Elites. Elites supposedly are harder to headshot from the back, that is if they choose to add them in a hunched over style like halo 3 which, I don’t think they will if they decide to add them. Also I’m pretty sure most of the elite fans would be more than happy with the Reach style in which they are limited to certain game modes such as invasion and customs. As far Spartans training with Elites, look up project anvil. That will answer your question. I suggest you chill out because no one knows what will happen with Elites in future titles and as far as we know at the moment there aren’t any plans for them so, just take it easy. The people on this forum are just clinging to hope that they will be playable in a form that pleases everyone one day. Compromise is the best we can hope for. To be honest, I think 343 has made some fundamental flaws with halo and I’m not talking about Elites being playable. Sacrificing split screen was a big mistake and I also think they took some wrong turns with the story and the campaign. Cortana died in halo 4 except she didn’t and and now she’s the galaxies greatest threat, doctor Halsey is a war criminal except now she isn’t. Jul 'Mdama was an awesome character who was a huge part of the Kilo five trilogy except he was killed off in like the first cutscene in just the worst way. It all seems like bad writing to me and I hate to admit that because I love Halo. Not to mention that we fight the same boss like ten times over in the campaign. To me the story is the most important part of halo, but the multiplayer kept me playing. Now, 343 did a good job balancing multiplayer, but it seems to be lacking in the fundamentals that make halo what it is, such as split screen, classic playlists, non competitive gameplay.

Not afraid of a challenge, I’m afraid of unfair advantages. Dual wielding hurts Halo’s sandbox, because, while dual wielding, you cannot melee (without dropping the second weapon), you cannot switch weapons, and you cannot grenade. I remember someone at Bungie back in the CE days, say that what makes Halo so much fun is the sandbox of the gun, melee, and grenade. But for some reason, they didn’t realize until Reach, that if you allow dual-wielding, you destroy that sandbox. You go from a gun-melee-grenade sandbox to just two guns, and that’s all. Bungie did eventually realize this and switched back to no dual wielding, like Halo was originally.

I don’t want to have to choose between two different characters each with advantages and disadvantages, I want everyone to be on a level playing field to ensure it’s a fair and competitive game. Competitive gameplay is part of Halo. That was 343’s big focus for Halo 5. Making it more fair, balanced, and competitive for greater use in pro-gaming.

Uh, yeah, it did happen. I played the crap out of Halo 2 and 3 back in the day. Elites were the most used character in SWAT for that reason.

Screw you. I’m ignorant because I don’t know all of the lore in Halo? There are very few people in the Halo community who know all the lore in Halo, there’s SO much. I don’t care, like I said, that was a minor point. I don’t want them to return because in past Halo games they had advantages that Spartans didn’t have.

They held no advantage over Spartans; they were bigger, the head was also bigger. Yeah, it might have been a slight pain shooting an elite from behind but their neck extended their head out, making it a much easier target from literally every other angle. It’s not like they were faster or stronger than Spartans, and when that did happen with Reach, they were separated from specific playlists anyway.

No, I played those games and never saw any increase of Elites in SWAT, again they didn’t have any advantage over Spartans.

No, it’s ok not now, but you tried to use that as an argument without knowing anything about it, you shouldn’t use an argument if you don’t care about it either way.

Again, without proof, your words mean nothing to me. I’m going to load MCC right now and test it.

Uh, go read my comment again: “Isn’t Arena suppose to be this war-games simulation for SPARTANS? It doesn’t really make sense then, story-wise, for the UNSC to just invite a bunch of Sangheili to play with them all the time. It’s suppose to be somewhat of a training simulation for Spartans in the UNSC, isn’t it? We’re Spartans.”

Notice how I posed them as questions? I knew there might be story info I didn’t know about, there always is in Halo. It was a minor point though, so if that point is proven false, I don’t care, because it was just a minor point that I wasn’t sure of. I don’t really care much whether multiplayer makes sense for Halo’s story. I care if multiplayer is fair, balanced, and competitive. So my main point is that Elites had advantages that Spartans didn’t.

You wanted proof? Well here you go, I just went and recorded these on MCC.

Halo 2
[Halo 3

](Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.)They were both done in SWAT. Both the Spartan and Elite are on even ground, and both had their reticles at the same vertical position. I did not move my right stick vertically at all when switching from the Spartan to the Elite, as you can see. It seems the Elites didn’t have as big of an advantage in Halo 3, but they definitely had a big one in Halo 2, and I DO remember Elites being more popular than Spartans in Halo 2’s SWAT especially. They still have a slight advantage in Halo 3 though. What takes 1 shot to kill Spartans takes 3 shots to kill Elites in H2, and 2 shots in H3. Also, notice on the Halo 2 video, I get a headshot medal on the Spartan, but just a regular kill medal on the Elite ( Halo 3 doesn’t show headshot or kill medals). So at the same position I was able to hit a Spartan in the head, I cannot hit an Elite in the head at all, it only hits their back.

And just because I’m showing these off in SWAT, doesn’t mean it only happens in SWAT. Elites have this advantage in both SWAT and Slayer. If you get an Elite down to no-shields, you are going to have a harder time finishing the kill from behind than you would have if they were a Spartan.

Who’s ignorant now?

So please 343, do not ever mix Spartans and Elites in PVP, like Bungie wrongfully did. If you want to make Elites only PVP, like Reach, that’s fine, as long as everyone is on even footing. But I think your time would be better spent on more important things like Infection, and other new gametypes, maps, and Spartan armors.

Why is this post still going?

Cuz Elites are awesome

Where are our playable Elites? If 343i is so clearly listening to their community then they have yet to take notice of this thread.
