I miss seeing playable elites, I used them a lot for machinima I would used to make in Reach, real shame they left them out for the new trilogy, I think atleast a spin off game for them would be cool
Also so many elite or covenant Reqs, the Sword and Ultra, so many custom Req weapons, yet no elites to actually use them

Given the possibilities that forge has allowed their use in machinima is only enhanced. If you’ve ever seen “the Codex” that is a prime example of how elites can be used to tell a story. Combine that with the near limitless settings and actions that forge brings. Combine this with your imagination and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

My bad, sorry, speaking of that, how much time did they spend on programing the Arbiter for KI? I’ve heard it was about a year that they requested a Halo guest, and here we have ludicrous four years requesting for them and we’ll likely won’t have an answer on 1-2 years more.

Oh, well that’s just the story they chose.
It’s been months since I’ve read or even commented on this thread. While I was hopping around in Halo 5, I happened to think back to those days fighting so desperately to get playable Elites in Halo 5. So I thought I’d pop up the ol’ Waypoint forums, maybe take a glance and see what kinds of topics were circulating around. Imagine my surprise when I find this thread, still active, and not too far down the list at that.
This is usually the point at which I’d make some big speech about how Halo 5 should have had playable Elites, and Halo 6 and beyond will not be acceptable or complete without them. But I’m honestly too exhausted. Above all else, I wanted to say keep this thread alive, and you have my absolute devotion.
I’ll be back in due time to give 343 (and consequently any opposed to playable Elites) a piece of my mind.
Until then, continue to fight the good fight.

I have been doing the exact same thing (minus the piece of my mind part). I had been reading this since Halo 4 came out in 2012.
One thing I realized about Halo and the story it has, along with the lore is that its slowly starting to match up against Mass Effect, a very expansive universe, many different cultures, (Despite the Covenant almost erasing them), and the fact that it leaves a lot of possibilities out there. Its a real shame the devs haven’t exploited that fact, because they could easily have a real winner here.
That aside, 343 still has no reason to just ignore this thread, much less make up the excuse of not having the Sangheili playable. They have time, and they have resources to do so. So what gives?

How about a normal Warzone game but Spartans vs Elite’s? Team vs Team with its own playlist.
Nothing is changed but the player models team. If we could i’d want Warzone Invasion!
Another option, if Spartans vs Elite’s is too complex how bout just make an elite vs elite Warzone playlist and you fly in with Phantoms!

I’d be interested in an all Elite playlist, but unfortunately I believe splitting groups of players into more playlist is not something 343 wants to overdo. I think it would be at it’s best to add Elites into Warzone as a whole. Warzone is not as part of the hardcore competitive setting as the majority of Arena playlists, and so are a few Arena playlists like Grifball for example. These playlists are mainly for playing around and having some fun and generally not having the main goal as “winning” from what I can see.
Though the only reason we’re talking about what playlists to add them in is because of the individuals with variations of agreement who have some validation in their claims to keep Elites out of Arena because of hit-box issues. Though if we get nerdy and look at it with a mathematical approach that I randomly thought up (:3) it seems that both sides of the argument are somewhat correct. It would take the same amount of time for a Spartan to look up to an Elite’s head as it would take for an Elite to look down at the Spartan’s head with the same scrolling speed. Though the immediate height change would make a taller hit-box on the Elite. This would allow weapons like an assault rifle to get more shots on an Elite. We’d also have to consider that there are (from what I’ve seen people say) more Spartan players than Elite players. So more people would have to look up towards an Elite’s head when they encounter one when an Elite could already be prepared looking slightly downward, though unprepared for an enemy Elite. There was also an issue over the Elites’ heads being moved forward so you could not hit them from the back and being able to shoot through their necks. From what I’ve seen Elites no longer have their heads forward like in the classical Halos unless using a sword. The neck issue may have already been resolved by now, but you never know.
Yet, does this all this really matter in Warzone when you can just spawn in whatever you need in a pinch if you have the requirements?
I don’t think this sort of thing matters in the social playlists (especially when I can spawn in a tank and blow everything up, I’m sure people don’t aim for headshots with a tank…do they?)but rather matters in the hardcore playlists. Of course a quick fix would be to either just put a hologram over a spartan that is sized down, or have Elites that are simply scaled down and simply say they’re young Elites put into traditional (a little modernized with the Arbiter’s leadership) hardcore training to become mighty warriors.
I would like to see a Spartan vs Elite “warzone let’s say” or even a custom game mode where you pick your side and have fun
I guess they might do it with “Remember Reach” update and include invasion
They added in firefight, why not this?
