I have yet to hear a single good argument from you that isn’t moving goalposts.

Well, that depends on the demand/how well it would likely sell. I wouldn’t have counted on projects like H3:ODST, CEA, or TMCC being made, but they obviously were.

In his defense:
Even if there were 2,000 unique users posting in this thread it’s still far too insignificant of a number to base any kind of change on. But, what it means is that there are 2,000 people who want playable elites which means that there’s a lot more that are indifferent, but would have fun playing as elites. Still though, in order for it to be worth 343’s time it would have to be easy for them to implement which is why I think elite slayer and invasion are our best hope (and imo, the best option
As for the fanboyism comment, there are a few people ITT that act like they want species re-assignment surgery so they can be a sangheili. There have been several posts that were funny/sad, if you know what I mean…

I understand that Halo 5: Sangheili might seem too much to ask for and elites in MP might seem like more of a sure thing.
But still…Halo 5: Sangheili? Can you imagine!?!

Back in the days of Halo 2-3 you almost couldn’t play a match without running into an elite. The population was huge back then. But Reach’s restriction forced many to simply get used to playing as a Spartan and the exclusion of it in H4 was the final nail in the coffin of either forcing others such as myself to leave, or pushing the complacency of those that had switched in Reach.
> > > > > > >

Even when starting a new account back in the day starting out you would generally see players as Spartans not Elites. Also please don’t take offence but playing a game so you can be a character you can’t even see unless in a vehicle or upon death is pretty dumb, if you are enjoying the game it really shouldn’t matter what you look like and Spartans are the most balanced player model.

Halo 4 on the MCC is far better than the 360 version as most of the crap is removed. You have said yourself you will buy Halo 5 anyway and I bet good money on your sticking around playing that if the game is fun regardless of being able to play as an Elite or not.
He isn’t the only one. I liked the game, but I quit playing it as often for Reach, simply because I could be a Sangheili there. I attempted to recreate armor looks in H4, used covenant loadouts, and still felt lacking. The game was enjoyable, however the fact alone that I reverted to Reach simply to be a Sangheili is more than enough to be a deal breaker…

Fanfic is a thing, and if you say you’re not familiar, I know you’re a liar.
I don’t even care about the playable elite issue, I see no problem with having them playable.

I fail to see why you feel compelled to criticize someone over expressing their nostalgic and sentimental views.
The greatest part of gaming is that it lets you escape your day to day life and be something else, whether it’s a mobster of GTA, the Dragonborn of Skyrim, or a badass alien from Halo. Since gaming is a popular way to relieve stress, many of us gamers want to become enveloped in its world as much as possible, fine tuning our alter-egos until our character is exactly the way we’ve imagined them all along. Halo has let us be aliens before, and a lot of us liked that. We want our old characters back, we want to be who we once were.

OK who were once were! lol. The reason elites were removed is because 343 is not going to support the minority, theyre playing it smart and are going to support the average fan. The average person plays as a spartan and even in h2 and h3 the avg time someone played as a spartan. And in halo reach custom games players played as a SPARTAN! I hope in a future update elites will become playable though but will not give a crap if they do not happen. Balancing the game makes the game far more fun and less irritating. I cant tell you how many times in h3 that elites got away with so much bs because of the hit box differences.

If 20% of a forum community wants Elites than one question that should be asked is if 20% of the entire community want Elites back. It’s a terribly flawed system because we’re only testing within the forum community, and that no one knows how much more or less likely an Elite is to post on Waypont than a Spartan player. Using a forum to gather data is full of compromised data.
But at the end of the day when Halo 4 came out a bunch of people on places like Waypoint and beyond complained about so many things and look at how much has been changed for Halo 5. The people who came here to complain about that stuff were only a small fraction of the community too yet they got some of the things they wanted because they were looked at as representatives of the rest of the community. The people here been given a flawed system but within the bounds of that flawed system everything that can be done has been done. Surely I don’t have to say that getting every single Elite fan in here is necessary. If the biggest thread on Waypoint isn’t significant enough than every single other thread is therefore deemed even less significant. It’s either this thread matters or every time someone asks for something around here they should be ignored unless they gather even more support than a thread that has been around for this long.
This isn’t even a defense for him. He’s telling us that there’s only a maximum of 20 legitimate contributors to this thread. There’s no defending that statement.
> As for the fanboyism comment, there are a few people ITT that act like they want species re-assignment surgery so they can be a sangheili. There have been several posts that were funny/sad, if you know what I mean…
I think you’re taking people too seriously here mate. We’re on an internet forum about a video game. All I see is a passionate group of people here that want one of their favorite features back. Simple as that.
And I don’t think anyone around here is denying that this is a fan dominated thread. Yes it’s going to be the Elite fanboys/girls that are going to go through the trouble of posting on this thread. I just don’t see how anyone could see that fact as a reason to keep Elites out of the game.
“What? There’s a bunch of people that have come together to state their desire to have Elites and have done so in the most organised, passionate and patient manner that this forum has ever seen? Well there’s no way we can have Elites now. People are actually asking for them. We can’t have that. There’s a chance you could make someone happy. The horror!”

Just going to say, the majority of Sangheili Fanfics are either horrendously written, unfinished, or their content is inappropriate.
I have little interest in a Sangheili + Kig-yar forbidden love story.
Making Elites playable is what made me love Halo a lot. The variety in it. It was fun playing as elites because they were definitely something we were not. The one big point of playing games is being something we are not. Even playing as a Spartan is somewhere in the relatable/something we are realm which isn’t as fun to me and others. Some of you may not see it that way but that’s how we feel.
Besides I still cant understand what is so important about a 2D rank graphic on a tag in the game lobby (though I’d actually like to hear the reason why people think visible ranks is a big deal I’m willing to give an open ear to it)
Heck if I was given the choice to in a game to play as the knight or the monster I’d definitely pick the monster.
That being said, if you add the elites in later I may consider it. But the other issue with me getting Halo 5 is no split screen;.

Fun to play as and more fun to fight! I always found Halo 2-3 the most fun because you never really knew if that red dot around the corner was a Spartan of Elite, the little differences you had to make every time you ran into a different model. That’s what got me hooked on Halo MM.

Absolutely agree. I like playing as something that is not similar to myself in real life. It makes it more interesting and enjoyable. If I could be a Knight or a Dragon I would definitely be the Dragon.

Just like how Skyrim had a DLC about vampire hunters and offered you to become a vampire instead of a hunter if you preferred that. As a general rule of thumb, gamers want more options to choose from and don’t like it when they’re options for something are heavily limited, that includes aesthetic character customization. This is especially true if a game had more options in the past.

Indeed. Its just to have more options especially hearing about the Rumors of Spartans not having as many customizable options anymore. So even if I did end up buying Halo 5 and playing it, I would still look at it like I did MK vs DC (Or mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe) for those of you who are not Fighting Game fans) it was not awful but very disappointing.
I’ll state this, I know a lot of people that slowly shifted away from Halo for losing that choice. Instead they play games like Dragon Age, or Mass Effect 3’s Multiplayer. Customization is a big thing to a lot of players. And as for those who say you don’t even see your model, why should any armor customization matter? You don’t look at yourself all day in the mirror, you have things to do. But regardless of what you’re doing you want to make sure you look good and how you like.
