Well it surely beats having to play as a space marine 24/7 and adds more variety to the game. Also based on the amount of replies here, it surely seems to matter a lot to us.

Obviously it does.

Personally, I prefer it the way Reach did it.
But either way:

So long as I can play as an Elite, I don’t care.

It makes me quite sad that we’ll probably never play with the Elite models of Halo 2 Anniversary…
I cant believe they went and basically put the Halo 4-ish Elites and didnt even used the classic one which looked amazing especially in the cutscenes.
But I guess we have reached a point where we cannot expect “too much” unfortunately…

If it turns out that there are loadouts/ordance/etc in a separate BTB suite and they don’t let you play as an Elite, I think you would all be well within your rights to flip 343 the metaphorical bird.

I can understand the gameplay balance issues that come with having different player models, they’ve never been perfect in any Halo game, but if there is a mode that is already asymmetrical or choice based there simply isn’t a good reason not to include them. It was bad enough they were not in Halo 4 where choosing to play as an Elite would only have been a minor balance concern by comparison.

Oh I know your pain. The Anniversary cut scenes and the Halo 2 Anniversary game play looked beautiful. Even the teasers for Halo 5. God I nearly had a heart attack seeing Thel. He looked gorgeous (still does plus Rtas even if he’s a little too pale). But… I’ve seen screenshots, which are few and far between of the multiplayer from the Master Chief Collection, and I now know why.

You’re right they just stuck a Halo 4 Sangheili into multiplayer. I mean come the freak on!! If I wanted to look at Halo 4 Sangheili I would play Halo 4 but no. At least Halo 3 has a semi active community so that when I ever get a 360 I can play as a decent looking Sangheili. I could easily go into a rant about how they look… but I feel that was probably done before on this post.

Here’s hoping that Blur is used more (as they said “Yeah no” to changing the Sangheili designs) and that Halo 2 Anniversary Arby is brought back as the -Yoink!- -Yoink!- that he is. And Another wish that when Spielberg and Blomkamp use the better looking Sangheili when they do their TV series or hell even make some hybrid of the two.

I just feel like 343 is trying to alienate pun intended the Sangheili community by forcing the changed art style of the aliens and the who halo universe suddenly centering on the damn humans. Sure before it was centered on the humans but there were aliens. Now its only about the humans and the forerunners and Sangheili and the rest of the Covenant are screwed over by the Halo 4 art style and sudden evolution of all the alien species.

Long sigh

I doubt 343 will be kind to the Sangheili community, Blur was kind to us, but I’m not getting my hopes up. If anyone want’s to hear my rant about Halo 4 Sangheili design. Bother me enough about it and I will happily tell you

This, the ones in h2a were amazing. I hope in halo 5 if we get the ability to play as elites we play as the arbiter’s elites.

On a side note, I would really love to see some returning elite armor from halo 3, such as ascetic and commando. The ultra, spec ops, and ranger from reach were also very cool.

If we get elites, I would like to see these return.

This was because Halo 2A mupltiplayer used an altered Halo 4 engine. It was a lot easier to import the Sangheili models from Halo 4, rather than create entirely new models.

It’s funny, back before H2A came out, I had seen the new Elite models in the E3 Delta Halo gameplay.

When armor sets were confirmed for H2A Multiplayer, I thought “Wow! Halo 2 has armor customization now!”

Then, I watched a video that revealed every new armor set for Spartans…

Before I watched another second of it, I knew (in my heart) that the new Elite armor sets would be:

  1. Default
  2. Heretic
  3. Honor Guard
  • Because a Halo 2 remake means Halo 2 Elite armors, right? I could not have been more wrong… They weren’t the Campaign models, there were no familiar shapes, and they had no context. I was speechless.

Full armor customization akin to Halo 3 would be an absolute necessity. Playable Elites should be just as customizable as Spartans are.

The reason why there are diff. models in H2A SP and MP is because diff. teams worked on each of those two separately. Even some sound effects like the BR are different between the SP and MP. It’s still alright, but the MP should have kept the same sounds, and models, as the SP

Let me hear it. I actually like their Halo 4 designs, but I don’t quite understand why others, such as yourself, dislike them.

This thread is insane… 4852 replies (before mine) and 493 pages? And it was started in 2012. This thread just proves that the Halo community is still alive and that Halo is truly not a dying series, gives me a lot of hope for the community.

After my comment about how amazing this thread is I should probably point out that I also agree with the post. As much as I enjoy playing as a customizable Spartan, I played as an Elite for the majority of the time in Halo 3, simply because it was different to most others and I just preferred the look. I’d love to see Elites be brought back into the multiplayer scene, and given the size of this thread I’m sure 343i will see it! GIVE US BACK THE SANGHEILI OPTION!!

I’d also love to see the return of an Invasion type playlist like in Reach, that gametype was the bomb.

> It begins by showing off a few Spartans duking it out in multiplayer combat (in an unspecified arena) We are shown one of the Blue Spartans running after a member of Red team, of whom he catches up to, proceeding with an assassination attempt. The maneuver is cut short a split second later when out of nowhere, a crimson clad Sangheili warrior tackles the Blue Spartan, pinning him to the ground. The Sangheili growls at him, activating his Energy Dagger and plunging it into the Spartan’s neck. The Elite stands, and issues forth a mighty roar. Responding to the call, a group of Sangheili from both sides sprint into battle, blades glowing ,and weapons blazing. After showing off some epic Elite vs Spartan action the screen cuts to black.

> The crowd goes wild, fans cry tears of joy, and those of us back here who advocated their return; we rejoice. Our battle has been won, the war is over. But an end to one war does not single an end to all wars. For our fight is never finished. We shall continue to oppose all who would dare remove playable Elites from the multiplayer of Halo games for as long we have too.

This. This description and drawing of a scene gives me high hopes for what we might see at E3 2015. This image has made me so excited to see what gets pulled out at the Halo section of the main stage.

And that is exactly what I’m talking about. Playable Elites were unique to Halo. Now more than ever the Halo franchise needs an incorporation of unique elements; elements that will catch gamer’s eyes, entice them, and most important of all, separate Halo from the growing population of generic FPS titles today. Including playable Elites in Halo 5 is without a doubt, a definite step in the right direction. Not only for the Sangheili fanbase, but for the Halo community in general.

Exactly! Some wont see that uniqueness but that should never stop us from trying to get 343 to give me a reason for buying the game.

To gyaosblade.

The reason why I don’t like them is mostly on a visual perspective as an artist. That and well they changed their entire face.

Forgive me as this is my own dislike of the art style but when you change how all the aliens look that we’ve become familiar with for roughly 10 years then I’ve got a serious problem. Sangheili look like frogs and Unggoy look like turtles. Kig-yar… well they look better.

Now if they are a subspecies then I’m fine with them. But you took us from blue/dark brown aliens to suddenly pale as all hell. Their heads are what make me cringe as they thickened the necks elongated the head and suddenly the Sangheili look like a distant cousin of Predator. I have a far easier time explaining this in person but just how they changed their skull and suddenly everyone is suffering from Ginger syndrome. Sure you could argue for Reach but H4 did a far larger jump then Reach.

Now if this was done on purpose to isolate that they are the “Bad guy” sangheili and that the Sangheili that we saw in the H2A cutscenes will be the “Good guys” (And not like the MCC multiplayer which are just H4 sangheili) then I’m fine with that. But 4 years between games does not qualify for sudden evolution of the sangheili

You make a valid argument. Thank you for helping me understand your point of view. I will admit, the Halo 4 Sangheili design does have some strange looking mandibles. However, It’s not enough to unnerve me.
