Doesn’t mean we can’t get it to work. I don’t think technology would make it hard than it is now. Also, has anyone who had issue shooting elites considered being adaptive if hit boxes are the issue?. If the design functions differently in terms of hit boxes adaptability can work.

The disappointing thing is despite someone preventing some evidence that elites can be head shot from behind in swat people still didn’t believe it.

> Many players prefer Elite armor permutations in this game type due to claims that Elites are nearly impossible to headshot from behind. This, including claims that Elites have a disadvantage when shot from the side, have been verified by Bungie as untrue, although some players would disagree. The Elite’s head sticks out farther than a Spartan’s head from the side, making it a bigger target. However, there is a spot in the Elite’s neck that grenades and projectiles can pass through without any damage

Its just a possibility that when they see an Elite its a different target from what they are used to.

So why not just give them the same hitboxes as spartans?

Or maybe integrating Elites like in Halo Reach, with special Game Types.

For the love of Christ, please no.

I loved the Invasion.

i also loved the invasion gametype and i would love to be able to play elites in multiplayer again. it would make sense story wise because the arbiter and his elites are allied with the humans

All other Halo games’ gameplay support spartan hitboxes and elite hitboxes. And since Halo 5’s gameplay supports spartan hitboxes, obviously, it can support elite hitboxes.

Plus the hitbox errors are exclusive to Halo 3 and do not appear in any other Halo games with playable elites.

No no, what else? Oh right, NO. That was a terrible idea to begin with in Halo Reach and that was the ONLY time that the Sangheili were ever played as in Custom games, or the repetitiveness of Invasion. We don’t need a Reach 2.0 to block us off from game types just because we don’t want to be Spartans. I honestly still don’t know why it is such a big deal for people to handle since the MCC allows me to be what I want to be on any game mode.

I think everyone missed the point. The build of a Spartan is completely different than an elite. The head is smaller and it’s harder to shoot from behind. H5 is supposed to be competitive and have everyone on the same playing field, which means no one has an advantage over another. Also, all of H5 is about “Immersion” and making the player FEEL like a SPARTAN. I find that to be a dumb reason for half the crap they’ve thrown into the game, but letting people play as Elites would completely destroy that plan. Not to mention that Elites with Spartan Abilities makes no sense. Elite Abilities, sure, like evade and the things from Reach, but not Spartan Abilities.

I don’t know if the Elite Community has realized it as much as the competitive community, but 343 doesn’t really care about our wants. They care about selling the game to people who don’t really care about the game and just buy it because of the name. That’s how they plan on selling their game. They don’t need people to stick around for long periods of time and invest because they just want initial sales and they’re going to ride those until the series is dead.

In Reach, they had the exact same hitbox, just 150% bigger, but otherwise, the shape was the same, and therefore, we can just shrink those hitboxes. And doesn’t anyone realize that the sangheili community DOES NOT WANT TO FEEL LIKE A SPARTAN! What is so hard to understand about that? And sangheili with Spartan abilities do make sense because sangheili are capable of all of those feats. I don’t think that a sangheili is incapable of climbing up things.

And many of us are aware that 343 is not the best in terms of community communication, I mean, we are the prime example of that.

Yes, Spartan and Elite models and hitboxes are different, but not completely different. Its not like you shoot their crotch for a headshot. Their heads are on the top, just like a spartans. H3 had a problem in swat, but other than that there is little other complaining over this issue. Anyways, it shouldn’t be too hard to have 2 different hatboxes in the game that both work.

I to acknowledge the fact that Halo 5 is supposed to be competitive, and I actually do like that in a lot of ways. Right now, we get to play the ARENA (competitive) portion of the multiplayer. I’m all for equal starts, including player model, in this part of the game. But I would also like separate playlists where it isn’t as competitive and we can play as Elites. Something not as restrictive as reach, but maybe like a social playlist.

If you haven’t already guessed, we here on this forum would much rather feel like an awesome saurian alien warrior than a regular human soldier.

I think Elite abilities would be pretty cool. With armor abilities any player could gave any ability, but if you make them species specific, you immediately know what abilities that player has and can strategize accordingly. Plus, a little more diversity is always nice and giving elites their own unique abilities would add new gameplay experiences.

Lastly, if you want to sell something, and sell other things after, people have to like what you make. Sequels sell because there is already a fan base that enjoys the previous title. That means keeping a fan base is very important for sales. If the game looks cool, but at its core is no fun, you may get a few initial sales, but they will soon die off because no one likes the game. I’m not saying H5 will be ruined without playable elites, but saying 343 doesn’t care about their fans is just stupid.

We will have to wait and see if 343i even cares about their fans, hell the chances of no elites for all types of gameplay and then suddenly this “new” rocket launcher just seems to be a massive hint to the older fanbase that “We don’t care”

And I don’t want to pull up that comcast parody to further emphasize the point.

And the Competitive Community and a lot of other communities don’t want Sprint. And Forge Community wants a full on terrain editor or PC standalone program. And other communities want other things that contradict other communities. See the issue. People don’t really care if they feel like a Spartan, they just want good gameplay with different options. No one has asked for a Ground Pound. No one asked for ADS, or any of the pointless things they have pushed into this game. They don’t want to put in what we ask for. They want to put in what they want and then try to sell it to us. You aren’t going to get Elites, and if that is a bad thing, then people need to not buy it since it isn’t what you want. The problem is people just buy it because it’s a Halo title. It’s not even a Halo game at this point. Maybe the theme or skin of the game is Halo, but nothing else is.

Just so we are clear, It wouldn’t upset me if Elites are in the game. it also wouldn’t upset me if they aren’t. I’m more interested in gameplay. I know that the Elite body doesn’t fit the same hitbox as a human body. Elites are a completely different size than even Spartans and it wouldn’t make the gameplay completely fair unless it was a specific playlist where it was Elites vs Spartans, so just shrinking the hitboxes wouldn’t work. In my personal opinion, although the gameplay is set up to be fair, nothing in H5 is completely balanced and the game is rewarding for the people who defend more so than attack, making the game very slow, boring, and unbalanced in that aspect. So having Elites wouldn’t be something detrimental to the experience anyways.

Most of the people that post in this thread are very well aware of the content in you’re first paragraph, and are opposed to most of 343’s… Decisions. And this thread, as well, stands as an ultimate testament to 343’s willful ignorance of the community’s desires.

As as for the hitbox, I know that the sangheili’s hitbox can be the same as a spartan’s IF they shrink Reach’s models and hitbox by approximately 33%. if you want evidence, then try headshoting a sangheili in the back of the head while you are playing as a sangheili, and you will see that they are the same as a spartan’s.

I don’t get why everyone is upset about the rocket launcher. It’s just a new skin, and I actually like the new look. Seems more bazooka-like and you can actually see the rockets in the magazine. I mean the SMG got the same treatment.

Anyway, I think the mood of this forum has become really negative the last few posts. How about we focus on something else, like what you would like to see if Elites do make a return.

Well if the do make a return i kinda would like to see the following:
Halo Reach:
Ultra
Ranger

Halo 2A:
Minor (For the multiplayer)
Honor Guard (Though the hitboxes would be questionable xD)

Halo 3:
Combat
Assault
Ascetic

Halo 4:
Warrior
Zealot

I liked all those armour x)

Elites need to be in multiplayer. They could do it for the MCC so they can do it here

We all know 343 really doesn’t care by now. I find it funny that they don’t, honestly, since their philosophy makes them less money in the end. They’ll still get a lot of money, of course, but significantly less than if they actually cared.

Not all that true. People who left the game series might return if enough wishes are granted. Such as having elites in MP, and whatever people want to have added that was missing in the old halo.

Ya the Halo 4 zealot is probably one of my favorite elite armors along with the Reach ranger, minor/combat, and of course the Arbiter armor. I doubt they will make the Arbiter armor a customization option kind of like they don’t give chiefs newest armor as an option. I wouldn’t mind though. Keeps it kind of sacred I guess.
