It’s not as though the developers just said “It’s not important.” The entitlement to choose what your avatar looks like is only concrete when the options do not affect gameplay (which Elites have done in every iteration thus far).

Imagine if in Halo 6, they removed spartans from MM, and instead sangheili and jiralhanae were only playable. People would flip out, and many would not buy the game for a cosmetic feature. In a way, I am rather shocked that this regressive move by 343 is going so unnoticed, or even as of lately, recieving praise from some of the community.

And as for the hitbox issue, that was largely a myth in halo 3, the issue was actually that the hitboxes were completely identical (thus, the hole in the neck). In halo 2(A) however, there is no hitbox issues at all, so 343 is not excluding them because of hitbox issues.

The hitbox issues were real for Halo 3, but not game breaking since the only REAL good chance you had of actually shooting through the neck was if you intended to. Not to mention the hitbox issue was EXCLUSIVE to Halo 3 and has not happened in any other Halo game with playable Elites.

Actually, the “headshot from the back” thing was a psychological barrier rather than an actual issue with the hit box. But that does not mean it was excusable, they should of stuck with H2 style.

I agree, but the Halo 3 version did have issues, it was just never as bad as people made it out to be. I mean, how many times will you throw a grenade through an Elite’s neck during actual gameplay, anyway? Not a lot.

While I do agree that sticking with Halo 2’s Elites would have been better, let’s try to be realistic about the situation. A brand new Console which means more pixels or whatever to add to the models and what not and a brand new engine compared to how they rushed Halo 2 anyways. The hole in the neck area was a major mistake on Bungie’s era, but it’s not likely that people would be shooting their a lot anyways. Be thankful that Sangheili models like H2A’s have cleared up the hit boxes to be fixed up compared to other games.

Haven’t been on this thread in a while and glad to see it’s still active!

Bringing up the subject of hit boxes, I am worried that playable elites might be excluded from halo 5 for that very reason. 343 has really been pushing the idea that halo can be a major e-sport, and that means precision balance in the game. Giving players the option to play as a different race does unsettle that balance. I am fairly certain as of now, Elites are not going to be in any competative playlists. I do think it is kind of cool that 343 is trying to make guardians multiplayer balanced and competitive, but I don’t want this to get in the way of it being FUN! Halo is a game in the end, and fun should be the main goal. Having everything equal (including player models) can take away some frustration, but it removes variety. If halo was solely focussed on this, we would never have other awesome things like the needler.

In conclusion, I think making a very balanced multiplayer experience is cool, but I think it has its place. Give the ultra-competative players something, but don’t forget about us Sangheili players that prefer something awesome and cool over something perfectly balanced. By having different playlists, both types of players get what they want, there will be more variety in the game, and nothing players want will be cut from the game.

I still don’t believe Esports and precision aiming are valid reasons for their exclusion. If people can’t aim for different models, then who cares? They’ll get used to it.

Well, H2A’s elite models didn’t have much to fix. As previously stated, the hole in the neck area is exclusive to Halo 3, it was not in any other games. If it was in Halo 2, then it would’ve most likely been fixed in Halo 3, but it wasn’t. It was a new bug. And Reach had new hitboxes in general, so there were no issues aside from Elites being overall more efficient than Spartans.

Why do I see in my mind that 343i is going “What is this “FUN” you speak of?”

I predict that Elites will only be playable through the BTB gametypes…

Hate to be that guy… But I don’t think we’re
getting our elites back, and even if we do I have a strong feeling it’ll be limited like reaches

At this point I would say that it’s obvious that if elites are included in Guardians’ multiplayer, they will be only in specific modes like in Reach, but I don’t see this as a problem, due to the fact that elites will probably have their unique set of elite abilities, that will turn spartans vs elites modes into a massivee awesomeness!

I’m not even saying Halo 5 will be bad without elites… but, come on… It would just help a lot.

Even so, I wouldn’t mind that. As long as they’re in at all. And as long as there’s playlists for just elites and for both to intermingle.

I really don’t think we’re getting them. Beta comes out soon I heard and they would’ve told us by now. Thanks for ignoring us once more 343. As if they didn’t see the most popular thread to date. They completely ignored us as if we mean nothing. They don’t listen to their fans well enough.

I’m just waiting for some big E3 reveal for elites, please make it happen.

So I heard theres no elites in beta. Yeah no elites guys…

Halo 3 Beta didn’t have elites either.

Yeah but reaches beta did. And it’s also not a good sign for us elite players either.

Still getting that its only MLG Spartards at this point, especially watching the beta.
