Easy there, I’m not trying to start something. I don’t hate popular things (mostly), but I’m not a fan of static routines. Cake everyday spoils the pleasure.

Regardless, I respect your opinions and desires, and if Arbiter armor does become a useable permutation, then I’m sure I’d stop caring eventually. No sense crying over something out of my control that doesn’t affect me.

EDIT: But if multiplayer will still be canon, then having Arbiter armor might be a different story (pun not intended). Though FOTUS and Ricochet have disproven that, so it could happen.

Nah, I agree with Varmah on this. If there’s an armor set that’s supposed to be unique to a character than it should stay that way. The same goes for a lot of other armor sets to like Chief’s new armor, Noble team, Buck’s squad and maybe even Locke if he becomes as significant which he probably will. It’d be be nice to see Majestic and Palmer get something that’s unique to them as characters too.

What I’m talking about isn’t irrational. I want the way these characters look to be unique and special as well as have the multiplayer characters to be unique and special too. A multiplayer character wearing Thel’s armor cheapens this on both ends and it’s just not necessary when your multiplayer character could have so many other armor options to choose from. Halo’s look and feel centers around the armor that many of the characters wear. It’s an integral part of the characters and how they’re represented and portrayed. Pretty much every Halo book that features a Spartan goes into so much depth on how their armor is like a second skin, it’s a part of their body and mind, the armor is a part of the character, this is done for the Forerunners in the Greg Bear books too. Cheapening the uniqueness of a character’s armor in Halo is IMO cheapening a piece of the character.

Of course I’m not against armor sets that come close like the original Mk V and VI sets or the ODST armor. Even in Reach you can sorta recreate Noble team’s armor sets but not perfectly. What if something like this happened to the Arbiter set? Thel’s armor may have received some modifications at this stage so maybe the old Halo 2 style one could become usable while Thel’s current armor can stay unique to him.

Though I have to ask how an armor set like this would canonically exist. And before someone says it. No, Wargames has nothing to do with the armor having to be canonically correct. The armor in every armory since Halo 3 and even before that have existed in the canon. There’s no such thing as non canonical armor in Halo, the closest thing we have to something like that is Fotus description and the Haunted Helmet which is just a variant of an existing canonical helmet.

So maybe Thel could have a group of body guards/apprentices that wear similar armor to him and that could be what’s available for the player to wear? Or maybe something else along the lines of that. But the armor that becomes available shouldn’t linked to a character.

I guess so…but that’s okay we will still have other armor sets.

Wheter the arbiter armor will be useable or not is beyond me, personally so long as we can actually customize the armor sets I think that’d be grand. I know it’s supposed that Elites don’t “customize” there armor, but come on, it’d be good to have more variety to it. Sure there might be some mis-matches here and there but that’s been going on even with Spartans.

I hope Halo5 gives more freedom for customs

Making Elites playable will be a great thing to happen with Halo 5.

I actually have a good feeling about Elites coming back. Even before Halo 4 was released, not a lot of people were happy about no Elites. And as said before, them returning seems to be pretty high on everyone’s lists. If 343 wants to win back the community, I think Elites would be a pretty good start.

Indeed.

Does Promethean technology require a Human or Forerunner touch to activate? Or does it react to any kind of organic interaction? A canon issue may be brought about by this if the former question is answered in positive.

would it matter?
aren’t we only talking about MM/Custom games here?

I think it just needs something organic. In Spartan Ops, you can see an Elite Warrior using a Scattershot in Episode 7. I think it’ll be fine.

Pretty much.

Considering the Arbiter is being given a role again in Halo 5 (seriously, prominence in the first actual trailer), I have good hopes for their return into multiplayer.

By the Might of Bohadan, I felt a terrible disturbance.

So Destiny is on it’s way and I was wondering what everyheili thinks about the game’s alternative playable races.

Do they compare to Halo’s Elites?

Will Bungie’s decision encourage 343 to bring Elites back in order to compete?

Do you think that the Exos and Awoken have the potential to become more interesting than Halo’s Elites?

I think that the fact that both franchises are known for having multiple player races is going to become a key part of their competition in the coming years. Thoughts?

Time will tell, but it will take a hell of a lot to be more interesting than the races/politics/religion of the Covenant. I still find the Covenant lore absolutely fascinating.

Unfortunately not, the Exo and awoken are just humans with a diff skin. They all look a like unless you take their armor off. IMO Bungie dropped the ball. I see a Sangheili I think “Oh a Sangheili” I see Bungie’s skin swaps I think “Oh a Hunter(Titan or Warlock)” The key to being a unique race is that even with all your armour on, I can still tell what you are.

343i knows we want them, I can almost assure you that they will be back. Destiny is good but it is NOWHERE near what it was said to be.

Sorry if this has already been answered but:

If Elites were in H5 (which they should be, really), what would you rather see: Elites with equal stats to Spartans-think H2 & H3, or something like Reach?

Like Reach but scaled down like GOW.

Like Halo 2 and 3, so I can play as an Elite freely.

Equality. Come on, everyone knows that Reach wasn’t the best way to go with the Elite’s.
