Ooookay…anyway The next thing I think we need to come to is balancing for the Elites. From what I understand, if we go with the one were didn’t complain as much in terms of gameplay I think we might be able to reach a great goal.

That would be the H2 models, right?
Question. If indeed Elites are playable in Halo 5 guardians, which model do you think they’re going to be based on? Out of the recent Halo games, we have three different models to base the Elites on. We have the bulky, scaly pale ones from Halo 4, the hunched, less scaly ones from Halo 3, and the tall, dark ones from Halo Reach.
We can see a few different models in the Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer gameplay, but is that a finished model, or a placeholder? I’m not sure really.
Out of the models mentioned, which would you rather see the elites based on? Personally, I’d like to see a mixture of them, taking things from each of the previous models. The armour from Halo 3, the build of Halo Reach, that sort of thing.

I like the models from Reach and CE, tall and less bulky. Reach had some of the coolest armor, but if the Elites make a comeback I don’t want a restrictive armor selection. Reach had the most armor choices but even then there was only eight and they were locked as a set, though I didn’t mind that as much.
You look at the spartan selection in Reach and 4 and it dwarfs the elites selection. I don’t need it to have the same number of permutations just add in all the Elite armor perms from past games and if possible some cool looking concepts that were left out. I was less of a fan of halo 3’s design but I know a lot of people liked it and a few have mentioned the Ascetic being one of their favorites. I’d love to see this cooler variation of it as an option.

I quite agree. I liked the Halo Reach armour as well, but you couldn’t really customise it. I hope we get a load of different armour to mix and match this time.
This needs to happen, 343!!
I remember how this thread started… what your kind did to mine.
-Me to 343
Even if 343 makes Guardians the best damn multiplayer experience ever, I will always have a piece of hate towards them for completely exiling Sangheili from Halo multiplayer. My whole devotion and love for the Sangheili doesn’t matter because apparently people whining about headshotting elites matters more (WHICH WOULDN’T EVEN BE A -Yoinking!- PROBLEM ANYMORE SINCE SANGHEILI NO LONGER HUNCH).
The Halo 2 posture wasn’t an issue from what I heard.

That…that works, so perfectly.

Frankly, either Halo 2’s or Halo 3’s stances would do; they certainly worked before. Reach had them stand up straight, which was fine in Campaign, but not in multiplayer because they had some decent advantages over Spartan models (except, of course, being a bigger target). Like I said, 2/3 models would work fine; basically a reskin, with no real advantages for either species.
That’s how it should’ve been done in Reach and 4, but that didn’t happen, and so that little touch of variety was gone. I’m still sad to see it go.

Canonically I believe the Elites are suppose to be taller than Spartans. So 343 will either have to follow canon which would make them hunched or at their full height, or break canon and make them stand straight but at the same height as Spartans. Though the younger Elite solution would balance game-play as well as keep canon from breaking this solution is refused by some who want to have the experience of a full grown Elite. I personally do not find a full grown Elite to break the balance of game-play.
There is no current evidence to show that height will affect game balance. The evidence I bring to the table is simple math. It will take the same amount of time for a Spartan to aim up to an Elites head as it will for the Elite to aim down at the Spartans head if they are both at the same cross-hair movement speed. If a Spartan is next to an Elite and they can’t hit the head with their gun then the Elite’-Yoink!--box must be enlarged to keep the Spartan back so he has a clear view of the Elite’s head and the Elite has a clear view of the Spartan’s head.
The extra size on an Elite will bring an advantage to both Elites and Spartans who wield AR weapons. One solution to this would be allowing Elites to be more accurate with AR weapons. The Spartans will have more of the Elites to shoot so they will not need to be as accurate, but the Elite cross-hair will be reduced in size so that it gives the same ratio of chance to hit the Spartan as the Spartan would have to hit the Elite.
With these changes I believe there will be a proper balance to game-play.
For the customization of the Elites I have stated this before and I will bring it to the table again. This will apply to Spartans as well. We should be able to have the traditional armor pieces that we can mix and match as we please, but we should also be able to define each armor piece or make a piece from scratch. This system could be simple where it uses spawns you as a forge-ball with a space before you. This space would either hold the armor piece before you in a gigantic state and ready to be changed or a blank spot for a new piece to be made with various objects and shapes that can have their sizes changes and shapes bent as wanted.
For the faces of the Elites we should have different options to change the skin texture as well as the species of Elites. Species would simply choose what the Elite looks like as in where the mandibles are, etc.
Perhaps we could incorporate my previous idea of “forging” your armor pieces into also making your personalized weapons. If you spawn with a weapon it could be made to look how you want. Such as a gold energy sword of which it’s shape has also been changed a little.
Why not just do the easy solution here and shrink the sangheili in multiplayer?
Gears of War does it and no one cares about canon errors (I guess to be fair though, Gears multiplayer isn’t canon). Kantus, Skorge, RAAM, etc. all get shrunk down so that players can enjoy their presence in multiplayer. Why not just do the same to the sangheili?
Trying to integrate Halo multiplayer into the canonical universe is cool and all but if it’s the reason that the sangheili have been exiled then I’d rather just have the non-canon multiplayers of the past.
This is where canon in multiplayer draws a fine line in nails the foot in the coffin like the goblet of fire. See what I did there.

^ This right here. It’s pretty much not a big deal at all and nobody ever does complain about size issues at all. Now apply that to Halo and we won’t be having these problems at all. Simple fix.
Couldn’t 343 add something along the lines of, “Elite/Sangheili Matchmaking”? Similar to Infinity but it’s the Elite equivalent?
I feel like Halo 4 was more towards the theme of “UNSC” rather than what Halo 2, and Halo 3 seemed like.
I believe if 343 can some how incorporate Elites into matchmaking, whether it be Elites vs Spartans or Elites vs Elites, it will make Halo feel more “Halo”.

The Elites were small in Halo 2 and they were big in Halo Reach. Either way there weren’t any problems canon wise because of the golden rule of game play over canon applies.
Size changes can be seen everywhere so Halo’s canon. Tiny Brutes, Spartan IIs and IVs being the same height and I’m no expert when it comes to ships and space structures but I’ve heard that there’s a load of inconsistencies there. Size inconsistencies aren’t new by a long shot.
So once again a canonical multiplayer isn’t an obstacle.
But in all honesty I’d prefer to have big Elites. 343 have thrown symmetrical starts out the window any way with load outs so we had might as well use the big Elites since they’re a lot more fun.

Fortunately, loadouts are more-or-less gone by the confirmation of arena-style gameplay (I could be wrong, but 343 probably shouldn’t risk bringing them back). I think we should move toward Halo 2-3 style models: Almost the same, with one or two small differences. They should act more of a skin and less of a Tactical-Package effect.

This would be a negative thing because the playerbase would be split entirely. Plus, the elite matchmaking would be very unpopular to spartan matchmaking since most people prefer spartans.
Why, for the love of god, can’t we just go back to Halo 2/3 and have both spartans and elites fighting alongside each other in matchmaking?
I to think a mix up would be tons better. Anything to get the Elites playable in Halo 5.
