Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> Hey guys look! Covenant stuff is gonna happen!

I cannot wait to read that.

sigh

Is there really any hope left for us elites? The Halo 5 beta teaser made it pretty clear that the “Infinity multiplayer experience” is returning and that elites are getting the boot yet again.

It pisses me off so much because 343 knows that they can get away with this because we all love Halo too much and we’ll still buy the game anyway.

I’m so -Yoinking!- mad that elites got the boot from Halo multiplayer.

That’s not a guarantee. We know nothing about the story. And if they do go back to Infinity, showing Elites would spoil the story. So not including them makes sense.

And if one thing is true, it’s that nearly everyone wants Elites to return. And those that don’t want them back don’t care. 343 knows they could get away with it, but right now 343 can’t take anymore chances. If they didn’t include Elites, they know everyone wouldn’t be pleased, and that could hurt sales. For now, 343 has to listen to us if they want to stay afloat.

Story should not be allowed in Halo multiplayer.
Leaving Elites out would not be very beneficial and they know this.

Especially when Elites are the third most wanted on the fans lists.

I love the original trilogy enough to by the MCC and never touch Halo 4. I didn’t really care for any of the decisions 343 made for the series and I could easily live without buying any of their future Halo games.

I bought Halo 4 to give it a chance. If they don’t add elites I may not get this one.

So its too early to say on whether or not Elites are playable anyway.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Seriously this is like the seventh time on this thread alone.

Canon isn’t a reason for 343 to not have Elites in multiplayer. 343 have as much control over what is written in the canon as they do in the multplayer so it’s completely in their power to just write them in, it’s that simple. They can’t use the canon as an excuse to not have them playable in Halo 5.

We’ve straight up seen Elites in Wargames during Escalation where we see Palmer fighting against AI generated Covenant in a game of Invasion. Honestly I’d prefer that the playable Elites to be flesh and blood like the playable Spartans IVs instead of AIs generated for training purposes but as it stands 343 have an explanation for playable Elites set in place so they by no means have to remove the idea of multiplayer being canon.

I agree that story is not the problem, Infact I kind of liked that they had a story for MM, it wasnt anything too deep and it was just kind of nice, but we could have elites in MM and I hope they bring them back

I liked the story because it made me feel connected to the story, to the point where I only wear my armor in sets because it makes sense to me. What I didn’t like was how it forced me to be a character I wasn’t invested in. I mean, being a Spartan is cool and all, but it’s not the same as being an Elite. That’s why I’d have been a lot happier in Halo 4 if I was an Elite and not some Spartan.

Hell, if Spartan Ops comes back and we can play as Elites in that, I’d love to have a bit where Miller screams “Yeah, kill those Hinge-heads! Wait, I mean, not you or anything. You know, the ones that- I didn’t mean- Oh forget it…”

That’d be funny.

Come forth my brothers! we must put this filth that is the storm in its place for disgracing the face of race!

(sorry, un-intentional rhyme there)

> That’d be funny.

“You disgrace our species, scavenger!”
“Vile vermin, you must be eradicated!”
“Yes, throw yourselves to your doom for your ‘Gods’!”

I can see it now.

Story should have never been a factor in multiplayer.

Please get rid of these “War Game scenarios,” bring back Elites, and make multiplayer good again like in the original trilogy.

The presence of Elites as playable characters in multiplayer matchmaking will not be affected by canon,as it is in 343i’s power to rewrite it as they wish.Canon is there purely to add depth to multiplayer matchmaking, which I can appreciate.

I want the old Covenant armor from Halo Combat Evolved,2 and Reach back. The armor worn by the Storm Covenant are too conservative. The armor should act as an extension of the Sangheili, more ornate and elaborate.

I miss the old armor too, but I think the armor the Storm uses is fitting to them.

The old Covenant has long since collapsed, and the mighty empire is no more. The Storm, a Remnant of said collapsed empire, are just scavengers that use whatever they can to fight. They’re pretty strong as a whole, but using old and less efficient armor makes sense for a band of pirates and not an organized movement.

(And I’m still waiting for your response to my buddy request)

This is a far cry of what Sangheili in Halo used to be.Noble beings which were revered as the Covenant’s strongest soldiers,of which thy still very much are,and retained a proud tradition of warfare.

Now they’ve just turned them into barbarians,I want back an organized movement, something more official and professional.

Do enlighten me,but the fact they are poorly equipped in comparison to the original Covenant,is it because they lack the materials and economic requirements?

I’d blame the poor economy and materials, yeah. I mean, the old Covenant had a currency system (Gekz), a holy city with a stable government, and multiple client species for weapon creation. The Storm on the other hand use outdated equipment and tech, and live nomadically with only Jul 'Mdama as it’s only leader. The Storm is living off the skeleton of the Covenant.

But thankfully, the Elites that are part of the Storm are a minority of the Sangheili population, so only a fraction of them are true barbarians.

Being someone who has clanned as an Elite since Halo 2 and has received many of the common threats/discrimination over using a player model. To say “Everyone wants them back” is a boldface lie on the level of propaganda. Majority of the people in this thread are from various Elite clans expressing their discontent ,which is understandable, but shouldn’t be exaggerated as everyone else feeling the same way.

Most of my encounters online have people not caring at all or merely questioning why they aren’t in, not “Zomg the Elites aren’t in this is an outrage”. Even though they could have easily been implemented within the War Games which isn’t plot driven canon.

Do people want the Elites back, yes. What group primarily? Those that played as Elites. Most people seriously don’t care and if you made a poll on Bungie I expect majority to show that (yes a few will want the Elites back from there as well.) I just find it more truthful not to exaggerate how many Elite players there were in the first place (only a few thousand) and not forget people actually getting death threats, harassed online, and other things due to playing as one.

With the Halo 2 remake I swore it was said or implied that there would be an original MM mode and an updated on. Which means the Elites have “returned” not to mention there is a clanning system which is hopefully updated as well. So we will all be able to see how many actual Elite players they were and some of you will be reminded of why the larger clans didn’t mind too much when they were no longer online.

It will be fun to reminisce again. Would anybody care if a buddy request was sent to them? I liked to talk about this and be thrown back.

The saddest part is that it is pretty much true. No matter what Elite clan you go to or which playlist you take part in, there will always be those who do not like Elite player models. Either because they think that the Elite’s are noobs or they just don’t like the overall appearance, I don’t know.

Now these days however, I am not sure if there are that many Elite haters as there use to be from the lack of Elite activity since things have quieted down since Halo 4. Most of the time I hear people that actually kinda miss the elite’s. Kinda strange hearing that but I suppose if you take away something that makes Halo the way it is, then people can’t enjoy that Halo feeling without it. I mean it in the Spartan’s view though since Elite’s like us have been waiting desperately to come back.
