Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

Judging from the tone of previous posts, have Sangheili in multiplayer matchmaking been confirmed by 343i?

Just the Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer.

But Elites are Elites.

Halo 2 anniversary will be a start of our return. Now we need to keep pushing to make sure we have a spot in Halo 5. We still have a long way to go before we make things official…

I have to assume “Spartan Abilities” is a placeholder name. It just sounds kind of odd to be finalized. Plus, perhaps Spartan Abilities are just abilities in-general. Again, it’s too early to make any concrete assumptions.

I would personally assume, that these abilities may be built in to where everyone has them.

As for the “new” Sangheili Models. Their isn’t much to go on yet, until we get good close ups is when we should judge them. Man, I’m really eager to the detail in the models.

Here’s hoping they all look like the Arbiter.

Agreed. Love how the mandibles are more reminiscent of the older models. Instead of Halo 4’s elites where they looked floppy and boneless.

And placed way too high. You know why Gek only has one eye? He poked it out one day yelling. No, the new Arbiter looks like the Halo 3 version got a tremendous and simply beautiful graphics update (and the helmet doesn’t have those uncomfortable-looking hook things between his mandibles, which I’m sure feels nice now). I don’t know who’s doing cinematics for H2A, but they’re doing a fantastic job is they’re all that good. And whoever’s designing the game models needs to take a good look at the cutscenes. And at older armor, like from Halo 3. And away from Halo 4’s Storm Elites.

Still no Discussions about the “Spartan Abilities” feature huh?

EDIT: Sorry didn’t notice that there’s already a conversation about this on previous posts.

Makes sense, and your’e right “Spartan Abilities” do sound kind of silly.

My thoughts on the “Spartan Abilities” concern: Given that Frankie likened them to dual-wielding and vehicle boarding (which are universal player abilities that any player, Spartan or Elite, was/is capable of), I’d say that it doesn’t rule out Sangheili in multiplayer.

I think the reason behind the moniker “Spartan Abilities” is that “Player Abilities” didn’t sound as exciting to the press team… The Halo series is primarily centered on the Spartan POV, so it makes sense for them to focus on Spartans (although, it wouldn’t have hurt to have at least one Elite in this CGI teaser).

Awesome, Thanks my concerns are pretty non existent right now. This all made sense to me.

I think that, if we do see Sangheli, it wont be in Arena. With Spartan Abilities implemented, Elites don’t have an identical approach to some of these (thruster pack). In favor of the “all-important competitive balance,” they would best be left to other playlists where more “randomness” is accepted.

Regarding the “Armor Abilities” that everyone is mentioning now…

Whoo.

My Xbox has been broken, so I haven’t been able to play Reach in a while and forgot those details. But if memory serves me well, the health regen wasn’t that great. It didn’t help at all in the middle of a battle.

Health wasn’t really that “crazy” yeah, only difference was that the Elites could recover their full health while the Spartans gotta find Healthpacks.

I missed Sangheili in Reach & 4 just because it was a core gameplay element that was taken away maybe because of canon issues and maybe not, but we want them back. I look forwards to playing Halo 2/3 multiplayer with Elites once more.

Sangheli were in Reach…

They could probably easily implement abilities that have the exact same effect but look different for the elites.

But then again implementing thrusters on Elites wouldn’t be difficult, they’ve got anti-grave thrusters on the rangers. They could use something similar to that and implement those as the elites thrusters.
