Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

Mega006 is putting out a lot of good stuff. It would be cool to have Elites with different traits than Spartans. Have them be equal, but not identical. Elites have bigger hit boxes, so they get a small perk. Nothing too game changing because the slightly different hit box isn’t too game changing. Maybe like a minuscule speed or jump boost.

Also, even though I know everyone here will hate me for saying this, there does need to be a SMALL number of playlist where you have to play as a certain species. Elites in H3 SWAT caused many problems and should be kept out of that playlist along with MLG. And if invasion returns, it should still be Spartans vs Elites. You should still be able to play as your preferred species in the majority of playlists though.

>
> I think they should just drop the whole War Ganes thing and go back to Spartans and Elites on random teams, randomly fighting each other. Yeah, its a neat edition to the storyline, but it seems to limit some of the stuff that can now be used because it would be canonically not very logical. They could put in a War Games and Matchmaking option seperately but it would be stupid to have two very similar game modes both matchmaking. Maybe if they had two different customizable characters, one Spartan and one Elite, and have respective playlists for each. But then Spartans and Elites couldn’t play mixed.

I’d have to agree. War Games was a good idea (in Verglaubenstheorie), but taking it off paper and actually implementing it didn’t turn out so well. The only hope at this point, if War Games stays canon, is that the treaty between Thel 'Vadam and Chieftain Lydus works out, and somehow we see either of the two species (preferably Elites, if Lord Hood’s making any progress) training on Infinity alongside humans. But that wouldn’t solve the problem of Elites being more physically fit than Spartans. Then again, MJOLNIR GEN2 should be able to match the capabilities of the Sangheili Combat Harness, so bringing back Halo 2/3’s hunchbacked Elites would probably work. I think they looked more predatory like that anyway.

On the first part, I disagree. Elites being different from Spartans in a non-cosmetic fashion is the reason things went so wrong with Reach.

But the idea of segregated playlists could work, for people who don’t want to play with non-Spartans or non-Elites. So Spartan SWAT, Elite Slayer, and probably Invasion. Or, even better, Spartans vs Elites: same thing as Team Slayer, just without the forced color. Which could work, if Spartans were gritty (or at least a little darker and more matte) and Elites were shiny again.

Not kept up to date much with this thread, but you guys still have my support. A 439 page thread with 8,700+ posts cannot go unnoticed by 343. And if it does, they will lose a lot of respect and a lot of the vocal community will not bother expressing themselves anymore

Seriously though, this must be THE biggest megathread on halo waypoint (with the exception of the off-topic threads).

That’s because players want Elites back not to mention to know what happened to the Sangheili after Halo 4 events. Plus people miss assassinating Elites or be one as a playable character. So 343 needs to hear how players feel about no Elites being as a playable character when H4 came out. We were pissed but we still keep fighting hoping that H5 will have playable Elites. If we don’t get that and the Halo Master Chief collection comes out(just a rumor but it seems highly likely it will come out), then people will go there instead to be a playable Elite. We just have to wait for that on Monday. I am hoping that 343 though pushes through with H2 for 360 users. I can wait next year for H5, but for H2 remake coming out, that better be for both systems not just one. 343 has to listen to us for Sangheili and this.

Spartan-Elite and Elite-Spartan assassinations were the coolest things in Reach.

I really want them back if just for that. :stuck_out_tongue:

With new assassinations for both but yes Reach assassinations are by far the best and the Elites have the best ones including the famous Sparta! Kick! However I like that back in there with new ones and! our death screams back like in H3! Seriously H3 had the best death screams. Halo Reach was…well ok. H4! Omg it SUUUUUUUUUUCKED! Its like they are so silent as hell when they die! Wtf!? 343 has to fix the death screams I loved the H3 one. 343 can do better than that with death screams no more being silent type when you are dying. x.x

It’ll be a death warble.

> On the first part, I disagree. Elites being different from Spartans in a non-cosmetic fashion is the reason things went so wrong with Reach.

Things went wrong in Reach because it was done incorrectly. Having Elites that are equal but different to Spartans is what 343 should be aiming for. Reaches Elites and Spartans weren’t equal and therefore there was the mess that followed.

If 343 put loadouts in H5G (which is what my idea is under the assumption of) then even if they use the the 2/3 models that didn’t have the hit box issues the players still wont be identical off spawn because they’ll be choosing different weapons and equipment.

So whether or not we use the shrunken Elites or the Reach Elites we’ll still have a game where everyone’s not identical but equal due to loadouts. So we had might as well use an improved Reach one because that’s the more fun of the two and will require less explanation.

> But the idea of segregated playlists could work, for people who don’t want to play with non-Spartans or non-Elites. So Spartan SWAT, Elite Slayer, and probably Invasion. While we’re on the subject of this would anyone be against Elites only SWAT? The head shot issue is still there but it’s there for everyone so I guess you could call that fair.

It could be put in as a voting option.

Though true your statement pertaining to Reach,I believe that the introduction of better health regeneration for Sangheili in Reach was over balanced and the true root of the problem.I also forgot to mention Sangheili were slightly faster than the Spartans in Reach, causing more displeasure.Hence,as aforementioned,I think it best for Sangheili only to retain their speed increment and player model size. There needs to be a non-cosmetic element that differenciates these 2 player models yet keeping them balanced. As to anyone who whines about the player model size, their just getting their jimmies rustled over a storm in a teacup.

Segregated playlists are out of the question. We want Sangheili AND Spartans to be playing on the same field, and on equal ground.Segregation would only increase the alienation between the interaction of players with these 2 player models and would only result in greater outrage and issues.Balancing Reach’s non-aesthetic differences and melding it together with Halo 3’s approach of the 2 player models in the same multiplayer matchmaking would be ideal,if not necessary.

Not that I play SWAT very much, but I strongly believe that the 2 player models can and should be playing together even in this game type. Its not a big issue raising your gun barrel a few inches higher to hit their head.

I agree with this, but unfortunately there are some who disagree. While Spartans have to aim up Elites have to aim down, there is a balance in this as neither of the species needs more time to move the reticle. One argument there’s to this is that if there’s only one Elite in a game full of Spartans than that Elite does not need to aim upward for any other Elite. This promotes an unbalance, though the same could be said for any Spartan who is alone with a group of Elites. Either way the situation is uncommon even though it can occur.

True though this may be,it is a minute factor, and honestly there is no real problem.Just some people who cannot hold their course and their aim.

Anyone hope that they show playable elites in the E3 Conference?

> Anyone hope that they show playable elites in the E3 Conference?

Hope so but I doubt it until later. I expect a Halo 2 with playable Elites in there however.

> Anyone hope that they show playable elites in the E3 Conference?

I hope so. If not, I at least want to hear them say it. Any reference of Elites that can be played is enough to restore faith in 343’s ability to listen.

> Anyone hope that they show playable elites in the E3 Conference?

That’s the point of this whole Überthread, friend. Whether it’ll be for Guardians or for the that-which-must-not-be-named is another issue entirely. If Odin smiles upon us and decides we’ll get a Halo 2 remake with multiplayer, they’d probably want to keep said multiplayer as close to the original as possible. Which would mean playable Elites. Halo 5 will be a different issue, I think. We still have E3 2015 before it’s released, so 343 will probably focus more on showing off this year’s game at E3.

I hope so much we can be elites in multiplayer but i just cant see them doing it for some reason

When they have a question panel/ if they do…
Someone has got to ask if they will return!

If they are confirmed then I will have nearly complete confidence restored in 343. I will also indefinitely buy the Xbox One…

Ya that would give me a reason to buy a Xbox One, because right now there is none for me.

Though it does seem like 343i does not listen to the fans, believe me when I say they do.Previously, there were concept art by Bungie for the Railgun which was never implemented until 343i came along.People used to say that for Infection we’d never be able to play as members of the Flood, but look at what 343 gave us.Have faith,I’m sure they are listening.

I…I really hope we get female Sangheili…
