Or am I an Elite pretending to be a Spartan in every other instance than this? And what benefit would there be to virtually changing your species?

Yeah, its a neat edition to the storyline, but it seems to limit some of the stuff that can now be used because it would be canonically not very logical. They could put in a War Games and Matchmaking option seperately but it would be stupid to have two very similar game modes both matchmaking. Maybe if they had two different customizable characters, one Spartan and one Elite, and have respective playlists for each. But then Spartans and Elites couldn’t play mixed.

> I’d have to agree. War Games was a good idea (in Verglaubenstheorie), but taking it off paper and actually implementing it didn’t turn out so well. The only hope at this point, if War Games stays canon, is that the treaty between Thel 'Vadam and Chieftain Lydus works out, and somehow we see either of the two species (preferably Elites, if Lord Hood’s making any progress) training on Infinity alongside humans. But that wouldn’t solve the problem of Elites being more physically fit than Spartans. Then again, MJOLNIR GEN2 should be able to match the capabilities of the Sangheili Combat Harness, so bringing back Halo 2/3’s hunchbacked Elites would probably work. I think they looked more predatory like that anyway.

Elites have bigger hit boxes, so they get a small perk. Nothing too game changing because the slightly different hit box isn’t too game changing. Maybe like a minuscule speed or jump boost.

Elites in H3 SWAT caused many problems and should be kept out of that playlist along with MLG. You should still be able to play as your preferred species in the majority of playlists.

> On the first part, I disagree. Elites being different from Spartans in a non-cosmetic fashion is the reason things went so wrong with Reach.

> But the idea of segregated playlists could work, for people who don’t want to play with non-Spartans or non-Elites. So Spartan SWAT, Elite Slayer, and probably Invasion. Or, even better, Spartans vs Elites: same thing as Team Slayer, just without the forced color. Which could work, if Spartans were gritty (or at least a little darker and more matte) and Elites were shiny again.
Though true your statement pertaining to Reach,I believe that the introduction of better health regeneration for Sangheili in Reach was over balanced and the true root of the problem.I also forgot to mention Sangheili were slightly faster than the Spartans in Reach, causing more displeasure.Hence,as aforementioned,I think it best for Sangheili only to retain their speed increment and player model size. There needs to be a non-cosmetic element that differenciates these 2 player models yet keeping them balanced. As to anyone who whines about the player model size, their just getting their jimmies rustled over a storm in a teacup.
Segregated playlists are out of the question. We want Sangheili AND Spartans to be playing on the same field, and on equal ground.Segregation would only increase the alienation between the interaction of players with these 2 player models and would only result in greater outrage and issues.Balancing Reach’s non-aesthetic differences and melding it together with Halo 3’s approach of the 2 player models in the same multiplayer matchmaking would be ideal,if not necessary.
Not that I play SWAT very much, but I strongly believe that the 2 player models can and should be playing together even in this game type. Its not a big issue raising your gun barrel a few inches higher to hit their head.
