Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> Exactly. I thought Shipmaster’s speech in Arbiter’s first mission was a great Sangheili quote. It truly shows how dedicated an Elite is and should be. After Halo 3, they began to portray Elites as mindless killing aliens. I think it would be awesome to see some more honor in the Elites’s dialogue.

I whole heartily agree I have some big hopes seeing as Thel and the separatists he leads want to ally with humanity.

This will finally allow us to see them in a good light (I hope) and maybe we could get some awesome fight scenes with Sangheili? I mean I have been wanting to see them Obliterate brutes and or spartans (if its Jul’s forces of course) or just some awesomeness you know?

Honor and Glory. AKA NO BROHOOFS! Next thing you know people will start calling Elites Space Ponies and everyone will be using the Unicorn emblem 24/7.

Also it is about time the elites are shown kicking -Yoink- and not acting stupid. Lie in Halo Wars Monsters scene, H4 Gameplay or like in Escalation.

Elite Majors rival Spartans there should be no reason as to why we shouldn’t see more Spartan deaths.

Well, if your goal is to take honor in slaying humans for a holy war, that is kinda what you become.

Alot of the separatists were the Sangheili that admired the humans and respected them for the valor in combat.

definitely need another class for mp other than spartans.

and I don’t think forerunner knights would work out, so elites, yes.

Honestly if they aren’t in Halo 5 I will begin to doubt…

ot:
Isn’t the Fotus a space pony?

Personally, I have always prefered playing as a Spartan, though playing as an Elite from time to time or fighting against them had definitely something to it.
So, the return of a proper playable Elite model has my support.

When not for multiplayer (for valid reasons) I think they should at least be playable and aesthetically customizable in the next (hopefully overall fantastic) Co-Op mode.

Hey, a lot of players use the Operator emblem to look like a Pokeball, and I’m pretty sure people will not call Spartans “Space-Trainers.”

But yeah, Elites are pretty awesome nowadays. And seeing a Spartan getting killed would set an example for how serious an Elite can be.

I thought it was really dumb how Canon changed so drastically as more and more media was released. In the original Fall of Reach it was stated that while the UNSC guessed at an Elite, and Prophet species’ existing, noone who’d ever seen one would have lived to tell about it. The Battle of Reach was therefore supposed to be the first and only time Spartans and Elites met on the battlefield in open warfare. And (big surprise), it was also the last battle of the Spartans, as all but Blue Team would die before Glassing began. The reason for this was that Elites were an even match for a Spartan, and Elite numbers guaranteed victory.

Back in the old Canon it was also apparent that the ONLY reason the UNSC had a ground advantage against the Covenant, was that the Covenant only deployed Grunts, Jackals, and Engineers on a regular basis, with Hunters being rare, but sent to collect artefacts. And when the UNSC managed to bring the Spartans in, that gave the UNSC an advantage. It wasn’t ODSTs/Marines who were superior, it was the Spartans. Of course, Spartans can’t compete against superior space technology, so in space the UNSC lost.

Ever since Halo Wars came out the canon has been deluded and retconned all to hell. Now Elites are clearly inferior to Spartans, heck they’re barely a match for ODSTs anymore, and the Covenant is literally a joke in ground operations. Heck according to Halo 4 Spartans are deployed to slaughter them for FUN… They make a GAME out of killing Elites because it’s apparently just that easy. It’s just ridiculous at this point. The reason noone fears Elites isn’t because they don’t look fearsome, or they don’t speak english, they used to be feared despite that. They aren’t feared anymore because 343i and the other fictional heads of the Halo Universe decided to give everyone the impression that they AREN’T dangerous.

If they want an effect of Elites appearing powerful, the only way to do it is to make them powerful. Make them hard to kill on Legendary, fictionally write that they are threatening, don’t show how a small squad of Marines took on 4 Elites and all lived to pat eachother on the back, show how they only managed to take one down, and were then slaughtered by the sheer superiority of Elite technology and strength.

I cannot agree more. I read Fall of Reach after I beat the game series, and I questioned why humans are so familiar with all the Covenant in the games, when in the book we only knew about the three that only ever showed up. In Reach (the game) Noble Team identifies the Zealot strike team based on the armor permutation and shield strength, as if this was something they took a test on. If humans didn’t know anything about the Covenant, how can you know something so specific?

The fact that Fall of Reach was released before Combat Evolved makes me wonder why Bungie would write something that goes against their original work into the official canon. That’s why I hope 343 works to make not just the Elites, but the whole Covenant, into something we can take seriously.

high five to you both seriously this right here is exactly my feelings!

Sorry to cut into your discussion, but I just want to show my support. I hope they put Elites and more into MP.

I also have a request about customization. I have always wanted my Elite to look exactly like he would in campaign. I am talking about the colors we have had. An example would be if I want to look like an Ultra, I want to look like an Ultra. I also think the colors we have had looked rather poor when compared to the campaign. This is not to say all of the other colors must go, I just want it to be an option.

I also hope to see 4s designs return (I know you guys want to *kill* me for saying that), as well as older models. It would be cool to see Jul and Thels factions go against each other.

Same here, it just isn’t fun to see the Elites be treated like inferiors

is just a little joke, but it does happen believe it or not…

Indeed this is why I refuse to go back to the type of models in H2 and H3 they did not look proud or honorable I want Reach/4 models but scaled down to the same size as spartans in all playlists so that way it is fair (Don’t care if it does not make sense as they would not hunch over to fight sooo ya) and they can be like the reach Sangheili in invasion/dominion gametypes (size wise and attribute wise that is).

It really makes me happy to see this thread this long and still going…I have unwavering faith in 343 to make this happen!

What was wrong with the model in Halo 2?

I loved Halo 2’s Elite model, it was a clear upgrade from Halo CE, and is the model Halo Reach’s was based on. Halo 3 was the one that made Elites look all fat and hunched over. And Halo 4’s just makes them look ugly, and totally wrong compared to the rest of the franchise.

Ahh its been far too long since i have played 2 I dig that model.

Greeting to all,its been a while, about 18 days to be precise.Looks like the thread’s grown,I see more people posting whom’s names I am unfamiliar with.Sorry about the continued absence, things have been a bit messed up on my end.

On the topic of aesthetic appearance,I do enjoy Halo Reach’s Sangheili armor selection, but I did feel there was a certain amount of complacency involved in the designs. The chest and helmet pieces of the 2 most prestigious ranks in Reach, the Zealot and Field Marshall’s are completely identical, apart from the latter’s addition of’ antlers’.I do understand that since they both specialize in the retrieval of Forerunner artifacts, they need to have a common association, but not a near complete copy of armor sets. And the Field Marshall’s shoulder guards are the same as the General’s,what’s with them apples. The Field Marshall,Reach’s highest ranking soldier,is essentially a second hand armor permutation.Customization options to the leggings should also be offered.I do agree with making the Sangheili seem more threatening, which could be done through the use of canonical representation and more intimidating armor appearances whose design should be to cause psychological intimidation amongst opponents.

To a degree, the canonical representation of Sangheili should also suggest that they despise the military inferiority of Spartans, given their weaker build and having no proud tradition imbedded in military culture. The Sangheili are also a race with technological superiority, and the integration of foreign technology not their power armor is possible, and could be the canonical explanation as to why the Sangheili possess certain edges that Spartans lack, such as automatic health regeneration below a certain threshold that Spartans cannot tolerate, like in Reach, should there be any discrepancies in balancing in Halo Xbox One.The Sangheili seem to have gone down a different technological tree, given the fact that their heavy vehicles, the Wraiths, are artillery style weapons compared to the Human Scorpion tanks.

If 343 doesn’t give us elites this time around I’m going to be so freaking upset.

Reach elites are the most fierce imo , they will have me hooked if they have the ultra return
