Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

I just hope they keep the elites similar to Halo 1/2/3/SA/Wars because their common look in each of these games felt like what they should look like while it just looked really weird when they changed the design for 4, forward unto dawn.

> I just hope they keep the elites similar to Halo 1/2/3/SA/Wars because their common look in each of these games felt like what they should look like while it just looked really weird when they changed the design for 4, forward unto dawn.

I really hate the new Zealots, they look and act just like Spec-ops elites rather than the good old gold Zealots.

I hope Elites make their return. If 343 didn’t include Sangheili as fully playable characters, then that would be the biggest mistake a company could ever make. The Sangheili fandom has proven to be a large one, who take this matter seriously. I know it’s a bit early in the next Halo’s development to be speculating, but I sincerely hope 343 makes the right call and return the Elites to their full glory.

There is a possibility of Halo 2 anniversary, according to the rumors 343 is including the actual full multiplayer of Halo 2, so MAYBE we get to see elites. Now then, if MS and 343 come out and say “Sup sexies? Guess what, you’ve been trolled NO HALO 2 ANNIVERSARY!” Then ignore this message. kthxbai

Really? I loved the way they changed the reach spec ops armor into the new zealot armor. Its the best looking elite armor in halo 4 imho. It just needs bigger shoulder and arm guards. I actually think that 343 did a good job with all the armor(except minor). I just don’t like how they changed their anatomy. their arms are just so skinny and now their mandables are up next to their eyes. If they could make them a little moe similar to past elites, that would be great.

You have a good point too. Im pretty sure they are making h2 anniversary and it will hopefully include the original multiplayer. if this is true, Elites will undoubtedly be playable in matchmaking. This could be our chance to show 343 how many people enjoy playing as elites. We could even try to organize a day where everyone plays as elites as a sort of petition.

I do quite like the armour, it’s just that they look too much like Spec-Ops Elites. Doesn’t help that their shields are too weak and that they use Active Camo, they just seem exactly like Special Ops Elites in my opinion, whereas the Elite Warriors (The gold ones in Halo 4) seem like weaker Zealots.

Halo 2, 3, and Reach had the best looking Elites in my opinion.

I also don’t like the anatomy, the upper mandibles are far too high. The mandibles also seem much too rigid, almost bone-like rather than muscle.

Far as I see it there have been 4 anatomically designed Elites in the franchise:

My personal favourite, is the design we got in Halo CE, 2, and Reach. It’s what I grew up with, it’s what’s most familiar to me. And it just looks right if you ask me. Tall, slender, and elegant is the best way to go. And the armour, particularly Default/Minor, have a beautiful shine to it, and was simply the most iconic in these 3 games.

The second design is the one we saw in Halo 3. The Elites themselves were made shorter, and quite a bit fatter/more muscular. As well their armour was changed quite radically from it’s Halo CE design, featuring COMPLETELY different helmets and shoulders on Minors, as well as losing the classic ‘shine’ almost entirely. Not to mention being relatively imbalanced in multiplayer compared to Halo 2’s, proving this design is pretty much what mucked up their multiplayer appearances in other games, not the Elites themselves. I feel the fact that Halo 3, not Reach, was actually the odd one out is kind of necessary to single out, because so many modern day Halo players never played Halo 1 and 2, and just assume they looked like they did in 3. Well they didn’t, they actually looked like Minors in Reach.

The third was Halo Wars, where they were portrayed very oddly. Their arms were long, their waists were shin, their shoulders broad. They just looked so off. Not to mention their head being incapable of raising above shoulder level. They were kin of reminiscent of the horrible Mario Bros movie version of Goombas… It was a bad thing. And their armour was an odd blend of Halo 2’s and Halo 3’s.

The final is Halo 4’s, it’s a tie between Halo Wars and Halo 4 for which design is my least favourite, in case you’re compelled to ask. And I certainly don’t need to describe them to anyone on this forum.

> btw, am i the only person here who liked the ultra in halo reach?
> I guess i liked them because they resembled the councilers in halo 2 and there glowing eyes. Of course, there rank and position in battles also makes me like them very much as well, but for the asthetics, what did you guys think about it?

Ultra was my favorite armor suit.

Same here, I hope that its armour pieces return…or at least the helmet…

> > Something’s got me thinking, the fact and realisation that we did not see any CSO-class Supercarriers ,the largest class of warship in the Covenant Navy, fielded by neither Jul or Arbiter’s men.It seems to me that these carriers’ rarity increases over time.Neither side seems to have the resources to construct these behemoths.Given the possibility that at least one CSO Supercarrier is shown in Halo Xbox One,there should be some kind of rank solely dedicated to the operations of these ships, given their exclusivity. In such dark times,a CSO-class Supercarrier should be a prized possession, hence the reason for a dedicated rank. They’d function similarly to Honor Guards, whom hardly leave the Inner Sanctum, but in their case not leaving the ship.
>
> I have pretty much no idea what this post is supposed to mean…
>
> For starters, what CSO Supercarrier is shown in Halo Xbox One? (Considering all we’ve gotten is a CG trailer and a single piece of concept art, neither of which featured this ship)
>
> As well, you’re talking like the Sangheili are united, that’s a mistake. Sangheili are at each other’s throats. If someone happens to have one of these ships, there’d be no specific rank involved, he would just have it. And he probably killed for it too, it’s unlikely he earned it as some prize.

As to the honourable gentleman’s former question, than no.And it will never be one person which will own it,as it is crewed by Sangheili and other personal in their thousands. It’ll probably never be privately owned, rather fielded by a specific faction of current or former members of the Covenant.

And yes I do enjoy Reach’s Sangheili most;sophisticated and yet deadly.I believe they were the glory days of the Sangheili from an aesthetic standpoint, for it is this era where they introduced more ornate designs of armour for Sangheili players.Halo 4’s Zealot and all the armor in it is simply put, garbage. How could anyone have enjoyed the Zealot’s design, its a maroon colored piece of nonsense.I detest this so called revolution of armor designs,Spartan and Sangheili, that has been introduced to the saga in Halo 4.The pinnacle of Zealot armor design was in the era of Reach and Halo:Combat Evolved Anniversary, where I significantly favor the colour scheme of the latter.Gold, like a knight in shining armor. The aesthetic features featured on the Zealot’s and other high ranking ranks of Sangheili in Reach had these blue colored bars of light illuminated with the occasional white glow every few inches.I think we should be able to customize this colour for ranks which possess this feature,it’d make an individual all that more unique.

Sangheili exclusive armor and miscellaneous effects, yay or nay.I thought that perhaps we could have for purchase an effect exclusive to us (Sangheili) that would make plasma grenades we throw to be engulfed in gold colored latent plasma instead of the regular blue. Can’t help but think of it as an ‘apology’ from 343i.

Reach is far from the glory days that the Sangheili once had. Most likely because all we had was fancy armor, but was only restricted to that of invasion mode and custom games. Even sword battling on Halo Reach was toned down for that of the casuals to play with which is baffling.

If you want to talk about glory days, Then you should be talking about Halo 2 and Halo 3. Where we were not restricted from a playlist whatsoever. It got even a bit better in Halo 3 when Armor customization was introduced and that everyone enjoyed giving themselves a variety of different looks. What Reach did on the other hand was took that all away and just had pre-seted armors that we couldn’t even mess with.

From an AESTHETIC standpoint exclusively that is.I’ve not really got to enjoy the good old days of Halo 2 or 3,considering the fact that I’m more of a greenhorn to Halo.

I do miss the diversity in Halo. I think the Elites should indeed return to Halo’s MP unrestricted.

So far, trying to give matchmaking a canon experience has not worked. In order to do this, they have had to strip features, and just down right ruin some. The flood aren’t even canonical!

So, canon is bad, fun is good. I say keep the canon in the campaign. As for FF, Spartan ops, or any Co Op activities not directly involved with the campaign; Elites should be allowed to play in these also.

While I do like the feeling of “my character is canon/has impact on the story”, I do think that you should never sacrifice important features just so you could implement an element to the game that isn’t gameplay related.

In story, it’s been established Arbiter and his men still aren’t enemies with humanity, and I question why 343 hadn’t thought to use that to put Elites in multiplayer. One thing 343 has control over is the story, so why don’t they modify the story to account for the Elites?

Sangheili for life!

> Sangheili for life!

Well come to the club!

I agree, Its even more fun when you come up with your own story for why your character is running around shooting at everyone in sight.

I have to say it almost brings a tear to my eye that this many people feel the same as I did when H4 was released. (I love it but…still)

I really hope they are in the next game and not just presets…I want it to be a parallel of the spartans customization wise.

They should bring back the elites. I miss them even if I didn’t play as them much.

Also they should have elite firefight where you kill humans and flood.
