Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> I have to agree with you guys on the Unggoy’s new appearance. They have to be a new sub-species right? There’s no way that can only be an artistic change, they’re so different to the point where I could believe that they are a completely different species.
>
> Anyways as for what we should see in the way Elite customization in the future I’d like to see the armor permutations be less based on rank like General, Officer etc and be more like the armor we see the SIVs using.
>
> By this I mean we should have armor that’s designed to deal with different situations kinda like how the SIVs have armor that’s built for vehicle use, Scouting, Intelligence gathering, Sniping etc. It’s this kinda armor that I feel has a personality to it and can reflect on a players personality and play style while armor that’s just based on rank may look cool but that’s about all there is to it.
>
> Armor like the Ranger, Flight and Spec ops are good examples of what the armor should be. They’ve even got their own SIV equivalents with the Orbital, Aviator and Wet work armor sets. In fact now that I think about it all of Halo 3’s Elite armor has an equivalent except Ascetic (I want whatever that equivalent would be).
>
> We need Elites that use armor built for Sniping, Orbital drops, explosives, vehicle use, Scouting, Intelligence gathering, Engineering, Security, Turret usage, Sports, tracking, CQC. I want the Elites you guys play as to be able to complete any task my SIV can.

Sangheili armor is defined by rank because they use their honor which is a hierarchy system, that is how their culture is measured.

I’m not suggesting that we rewrite the hierarchy of Thel’s military.

But to really figure out how this’ll work we’d have to know exactly why the Elites would be working directly with SIVs along with the terms of the agreement between the UNSC and the Separatists and just how the ranking system would work before we start discussing what armor would be appropriate for the playable Elites to wear.

My suggestions were me just wanting to see the Elites be treated equally to the Spartans.

Yeah equality! I’m up for that.

btw, am i the only person here who liked the ultra in halo reach?
I guess i liked them because they resembled the councilers in halo 2 and there glowing eyes. Of course, there rank and position in battles also makes me like them very much as well, but for the asthetics, what did you guys think about it?

They did look decent, but their rank and crudely fashioned arm guards did put me off.I prefer someone whom is responsible for the command of the battlefield, like the General, whom also somewhat resembles an Honour Guard, which I really like. The armour permutations which showcase the glowing decorative plasma streams really capture one’s attention and I think more of such aesthetic features in various armor sets would be appreciated. What I’d like to see in Sangheili armor is greater elaborance, and perhaps feature Promethean charecteristics like hardlight spines.

Speaking of armor, I would like to see more sangheili armor based around religious duties much like ascetic.

Wow, this thread got long. Anyways, my answer is unless they are 100% equal to Spartans in MP, no.

> Speaking of armor, I would like to see more sangheili armor based around religious duties much like ascetic.

Yeah, religiously driven armour would be very nice, and the possible canon behind them makes it all that more special.

> Wow, this thread got long. Anyways, my answer is unless they are 100% equal to Spartans in MP, no.

I thought of a system which could work though. For multiplayer matchmaking we set the Sangheili and Spartan sizes as equals with identical hit boxes, but in custom games, there should be an option for the host for Sangheili to retain their Reach size and hit box or keep the equivalent, balanced one. This way it’d be good for both machinima directors and game balance for their respective game types and to all intents and purposes.Though custom game hosts could abuse this to retain an advantage,I think it’d be unlikely.

I like the Ultra’s too, they hold quite a high rank and look great. I’m not fond of the closed helmet even though I love the head-crest. I prefer an Elite’s mandibles to be on show, probably the reason I don’t like the new Halo 4 Zealot armour. The General armour in Reach is my favourite.

Ripa Moramee.

He’s rather large.

Plus he is long time dead.

Makes me think there could be a storm version of the Arbiter. It probably wouldn’t be the Didact’s hand, rather some experienced Elite who knows how to survive. I also thought of Elites becoming Prometheans, suffering the same imprisonment as Humans. These Elites could be refugees that could have been in New phoenix when the Didact decimated the city. I’m sure it would pull Humans and Elites together in order to free their brothers and sisters. Maybe if there were some neutral Prometheans or there was a way to pacify them then they could make Human/Elite (that had a forerunner look to them) armors which could be used in MP.

Gek would have been appropriate for that role were he not dead right now.

I’m doubtful that 343 will put in many more key elite characters in the next game. They will probably focus more on Thel (Arbiter) and Jul (Didacts Hand) being at each others throats. We may even get an awesome energy sword battle between the two sometime during the campaign.

Also, There is a guy on Deviantart called Ninjaboomer44 that has some really good concepts for promethean covenant. Putting in enemies like these in the next halo would be really cool.

Something’s got me thinking, the fact and realisation that we did not see any CSO-class Supercarriers ,the largest class of warship in the Covenant Navy, fielded by neither Jul or Arbiter’s men.It seems to me that these carriers’ rarity increases over time.Neither side seems to have the resources to construct these behemoths.Given the possibility that at least one CSO Supercarrier is shown in Halo Xbox One,there should be some kind of rank solely dedicated to the operations of these ships, given their exclusivity. In such dark times,a CSO-class Supercarrier should be a prized possession, hence the reason for a dedicated rank. They’d function similarly to Honor Guards, whom hardly leave the Inner Sanctum, but in their case not leaving the ship.

I have pretty much no idea what this post is supposed to mean…

For starters, what CSO Supercarrier is shown in Halo Xbox One? (Considering all we’ve gotten is a CG trailer and a single piece of concept art, neither of which featured this ship)

As well, you’re talking like the Sangheili are united, that’s a mistake. Sangheili are at each other’s throats. If someone happens to have one of these ships, there’d be no specific rank involved, he would just have it. And he probably killed for it too, it’s unlikely he earned it as some prize.

I’m aware. However, imagine a second in command Elite the size of him at either the arbiter’s side or Jul’s

It would be even more awesome if they added more ranks after Field Marshall, They should put these ranks in after Field Marshall

Officer
Councilor
Supreme Commander
Arbiter

Awesome ranks (including armor), even if the idea sounds stupid or maybe won’t come in. As long as the awesome elites come in, i’ll be happy! I sign this post also.

In other words-
BRING BACK T3H ELITEZ
