Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> Had an idea while skimming through the past few pages. What if, instead of Elites, we could play as Jackals?
> They’re about the same height as a Spartan-IV, so size reduction wouldn’t be a problem. The only thing they’re missing is a personal shield which could be fixed with a canonical explanation to give them one.
> Balancing could be done 1:1, or offset, Jackals being better in some areas while Spartans are better in others, like in Halo: Reach.
> Just an idea.

It would be awesome to have a class based gametype where you could play as Covenant species or Spartans and each species was balanced to make gameplay enjoyable. What I mean is something like TF2 where the jackal class is the equivalent of the sniper class, the spartan is the soldier, etc. To keep traditional Halo freedom, classes could pick up each others weapons, but the base player traits would prevent players from basically being reskins of each other. So if you played as a brute, you could have higher melee damage and speed with heavy objects like turrets, but your accuracy would be mediocre and your aim assist would be low and thus be drawn towards automatic weapons and close range weapons with effective results. If you were a jackal, your traits would make you be drawn more to using precision weapons effectively. If you were a spartan, you’d basically be a spartan: jack of all trades, master of none. If you were an elite, you’d be like the spartan class, but your speed and strength are better, however, you’re a big target and don’t have the high health of the brutes to withstand as many hits.

Just a basic, underdeveloped idea of a side gametype for people to have fun with.

Perhaps a game like Halo Wars except where it is a tactical shooter.

Sounds pretty interesting, I would still play as an Elite but I definitely could see this happening. Though this type of system could go incredibly well in firefight mode where the covenant could begin with a starter species and with more points spawn as stronger ranked up version of any species, like an Elite zealot with stronger shields. With the power of the Xbox one I’m sure large vehicles like scarabs could also be “bought” with points. Spartans and Elites along with any other covenant on the defense could get the same benefits but with more defensive items available. Having all these species in MM and FF would make Halo become very unique and quite a fun experience.
Now for the release date of Halo 5, it sounds quite early. They could release it unfinished in certain sections like the armor available and later on add them in with patches. This wouldn’t be a bad idea as it would allow them to focus on the more important things like adding Elites
As for new weapons how about using your bare hands in hand to hand combat when you run out of ammo, this could also be tremendous for Machinima makers who want some of their characters to be weaponless and without a strange stance.
Female Elites should also be added in, they’re female Elite fans out there and they need to be compensated just like the female Spartans. The story behind this can simply be that Thel’s Elites are impressed by human females in battle and have started to try this for themselves.
On the subject of different stats between Elites and Spartans there have been the arguments of same stats to preserve balance and stats based on canon. Keeping both species balanced is a good decision to keep most players happy as Elite players will get what they want while keeping Spartans happy as well. That is unless like previously stated all species are to be added. In that case the better judgement would be to focus on balancing in a Starcraft manner so that each Species can have a unique play-style that players can enjoy. It could also allow for more strategy to be put into Halo.

> So when we get our elites back what is the first thing you guys are planning on doing? I for one am intent on violently tbagging my fallen opponents=)

I recently started playing halo 2 online and yeah when i am an elite The other team becomes familiar with my balls, my big alien balls.

I’d celebrate by making a Machinama, with Sangheili.

There would be no need to explain female Sangheili warriors as they already exist in the lore.

Halo 2 is still online for the pc?

Yep, I was playing online a couple days ago.

> > Hey guys, Halo 3 is now free to play. If you want to experience the last true golden age of sangheili, now’s the time. Maybe if we help flood Halo 3’s population and get it on Major Nelson’s charts, we’ll show 343i that not only does Halo need to be more classic again, but Elites in MM need to come back!

Not if the population actually stays constantly higher up all year. If by summer 2014 the numbers are still above Halo 4 and Reach, that’s not just a fad, it’s an obvious trend.

Also, Halo 3 had much faster movement speed and kill times than Reach, I fail to see how you could say Halo 3 is “slow”.

Halo 3 slow. What? When did I say that? And whether or not I even agree with that what does it have to do with your Halo 3 idea. I don’t hate Halo 3 if that’s what you’re getting at. I was playing it just yesterday. Where are you getting this from and what does my opinion of Halo 3’s speed have to do with your idea?

Also if you want to have the pop stay up for that long why does it matter that we start now? It would be equally effective to have gotten everyone to play Halo 3 before or after it was made free. Maybe even more effective if we don’t do it right now just to make sure 343 get your message.

If we allow the current population increase in Halo 3 to die down first then raise it again with actual Halo fans that will insure that 343 will know that the increase isn’t due to the game being made free and that we’re actually trying to send a message.

I’m the one who said 3 felt slow and I’m not looking for a fight. I respect that you like 3 all I ask is that you respect that I like Reach.

I thought they were going to shut down the servers. I guess it doesn’t matter anyway because I can’t get it to work on my new computer=(

I have perplexed the idea of armour damage with both plasma and ballistic based weaponry as this topic deals with the idea of the return of sangheili as plasma based weaponry is the staple of the sangheili sandbox, the system is how it is able to gauge the damage subjected via plasma to put this into prospective I have provided a canonical source below.

“Complete armour protection from plasma weaponry is generally difficult to accomplish due to plasma’s high damage ratio. The armour used by the UNSC Marine Corps and UNSC Army usually provides good protection from plasma, but only to a certain extent. A series of hits from a plasma weapon will literally melt or burn the armour, rendering it useless. The SPARTAN-II armour variant is similar the Marines’ armour, in that it will eventually give way to the plasma. Some newer versions of the Spartans’ armour boast energy shields, which provide additional protection from plasma, although shielding systems can be completely depleted by sustained plasma fire, or a single, overcharged bolt.”

As I picture this in situ, as a particular point of the target’s unshielded apparel is hit, this point begins to glow like white phosphorus, as more plasma hit’s this spot brilliant river’s of molten titanium and trickle like rain droplet’s in till the plasma has penetrated directly through the armour system leave nothing more than a large cavity in it’s place. other weapon’s such as Energy sword’s or glow stick’s of impending doom as I call them, will create white hot scar’s within the hapless soul you are pitted against.

Did any of you notice that they have just recently (as in; TODAY) added Jul 'Mdama and his loyal friend Gek 'Lhar to the Halo 4 Avatar Collection?

Given the fact that they already have the Didact’s costume, this may not seem very important for the future of Halo gameplay on Xbox One - however, I do take this recent love towards our Sangheili brethren as a good sign for the next game!

Jul and Gek aren’t my favorite Sangheili but I guess its something.

So we shall. Clicks MA37

I’m not sure if I’ve signed this yet, but I’d love to have playable Elites return.

Stabs from the back with an invisible sword and kicks him from the top of Spire Done.
