> Yes,Thel would most likely have built up his separatist army on Sanghelios, and after that long the civil war is possibly over. However,a reason why not to go all out and have an entire fleet is that direct combat is too risky, the operation should be quick, concise, and stealthy. The element of surprise should be maintained as the Janice key would be heavily guarded by the Remnant,if not in Jul’s possession himself.I’d like another Arbiter to have another one of those assassination scenes in Halo 5,like when he murdered Truth, but in the next Halo, maybe Jul instead.I’d guess that Jul would have the key in his own possession, hence making his death more than necessary. Now thinking of the Janice key’s importance,I think we may see some upcoming high ranked guard Sangheili, something like the Honor Guardsmen.
The return of the honor guards is definitely a good idea. Instead of guarding the prophets they would be guarding forerunner artifacts like the Janice key. We could also see them guarding important personnel like Jul and Halsey. Perhaps what they guard would be seen by their armor. If they guard artifacts then we might see armor more heavily influenced by forerunner tech. If they guard personnel then we might see more traditional armor.
These Honor Guardsmen from the Remnant should not be equipped with energy staves, instead something more of their own variation.I’d be more interested personally if they held a special gun instead of a melee weapon, however having both would be best. The Remnant are after all a break away faction and whose weapons should not totally resemble those of the original Covenant.Weapons they hold should be truly special,I’d like some gilding on them and have a metallic gold texture. Its necessary for their weapons to be decorated to denounce rank, conceptualising this weapon in my head its really similar to the Gjallahorn from Destiny, but with a more sic-fi look and maybe some plasma based lighting on it.A different firing mechanism would be appreciated as this special weapon, after all, should not be too conventional at all. It’d be nice if the decorated weapon they held would conjure up a rectangular plasma barrier after charging, and would thrust the plasma barrier upon releasing the trigger, resulting in an instant kill after contact with the player. All weapons should be available in matchmaking, weapons like this should not be an exception.

True. Not really possible for them not to notice this thread considering its the longest running thread on Waypoint and has the most pages I’ve ever seen. Also I don’t think they’re allowed to comment on certain subjects for a game they’re still developing. I could be wrong, I know I saw the real reason somewhere here on Waypoint, so hopefully someone comes along and tells you why they can’t comment. I hope this helped.

I hope they do notice, and if they’re under an agreement not to talk about Halo 5 and what not, fine that is understandable. In which I will back off on that.
As for the main subject, as part of customization, you know I wouldn’t mind having the Heretic variants of certain armors from Halo 2 making a come back.
Or perhaps some sort of crossbred armor inspired by the UNSC’s Spartans.
I’m just wondering if or when the Sangheili will realize that a part of the UNSC just poisoned them, and how badly that would go.

No ones poisoned anybody yet. The bio weapons are in reserve in case the Sangheili try anything and we get cornered again. It’s a last resort. At least that’s how it was planed. I don’t like to think about the strings Parongosky might pull if she gets board.

Even though it hasn’t been done yet, for any Sangheili to realise that such a contingency plan is in place would be disastrous for relations, not only with the Sangheili but with all other species as well. There is a very high chance of this “plan” going extremely badly indeed, if it were found. For this genocidal crop-poison to be planned and ready to be executed is idiotic to say the least. I seriously fear what is to happen in Mortal Dictata in regards to inter-species relations.
My disillusionment with the franchise is building to intolerable levels. For this thread to have been here for 18 months and to not have a single reply from within 343i is bordering on ridiculous, quite frankly. To leave us in only hope, and faith in their “listening to fans” credo, isn’t fair at all, really. There’s no doubt they’ve seen this thread, but whether they will act on it has yet to be seen, and can only be seen when they reply – which should have been done 18 months ago. Sorry to be such a “whiner,” but having been somewhat of a part of this thread since last October, I’m really becoming quite frustrated.
Faith can only carry one for so long in a journey such as this. While the franchise shall live on, it sadly will be disconnecting due to the direction 343I takes it.

Yeah it’s not a very good situation for both parties. One could get glassed, one could get poisoned and we’ve got Jul running around giving each side a reason to do so.
Anyways about 343 responding. What do want them to say? They can’t tell us whether or not they’re putting Elites in the next game.
If 343i continues on the path that led them to Halo 4,their franchise would fall. Now none of us would would like to see that, but I still remain hopeful that 343i will rectify their mistakes. They’ve just gotta learn from Reach, and build on that. What Reach did good, make better, implement other mechanics that would improve gameplay. In my opinion, what was fundamentally wrong of Halo 4 was that it seemed only to cater to MLG and the so-called MLG try hards, there was near to no consideration for machinima or others things this game has that has been exploited by other parties, and that green screen in forge was flawed, directors complained about the green tint reflecting off their characters. And for the sake of god 343,have a bloody beta.Terrible work, lacking the essence of what is HALO.The lack of Sangheili pissed us off,and with good reason. After being an available preferred player model for so many years, they just took it out and never gave us a heads up.The armour in Halo 4 does not look very militarized, they look sic-fi,and I know the Halo trilogy is sci-fi but the armours always looked professional and was what one would think of of a super soldier in the military a few centuries in the future.Halo 4 has none of that. However, this was 343i’s first shot at this franchise, and I think our judgements of their efforts and end products should be based on their second game, because the first game should have given them insight on what they did wrong.

It’s just a ridiculous Hobbesian trap though, to be contemplating genocide on a people who have made no hostile intentions clear. The trap is almost non-existent. Why put contingency plans in place when there was such a low threat? Thel 'Vadam had very large support just after the Great Schism, and only the ridiculous arming of the Servants of Abiding Truth gave him a large opposition group which would have only been a small set of jeerers otherwise. ONI seems to be making their own problems, by basing their policies on xenophobia alone. It also almost rationalises Jul’s actions, giving him and his followers a justifiable reason to fight against humanity. It is just completely unnecessary.
I would like them to say anything in regards to our plight, really. To let us know we are not being ignored and our views are being taken into consideration. They don’t need to tell us whether they are in the game or not, simply that they are considering options. That alone would give me peace of mind that we have been seen, which again should have been done 18 months ago. Anything they say I will be somewhat happy with, as it will rid me of this torturous doubt. I’ve never expected them to say “they’re in” or “they’re out,” simply that we are being taken under consideration or that they made somewhat of a mistake in regards to Sangheili in Halo 4. Anything, really, if that makes any sort of sense.
It would just be nice to play as elite’s again. With it own ranking system, and no playlist restrictions. With armor combinations as endless as the Spartans.

I actually believe it or not much prefer full sets for the Elites. It matches their personality better to look symmetrical and uniquely designed throughout their entire armour. I will, however, be very sad if Minor Armour didn’t come back (I prefer Minor over Combat because of the shoulders and helmet mostly). And no, I would never call Halo 4’s Covenant Remnant Minor armour the same as that classic Minor that appeared in Halo CE, 2, and Reach.

Nice to see someone with the same sentiments,I thought I was the only one around who liked the whole armour sets. What would be nice and more user friendly was if there was a menu for the Sangheili armour where when you selected any armour piece, and go to the one you like, and was able to press a button where you configured your entire armour permutation to that set.So for example if I were to select Minor shoulder I’d be able to input a command to ensure my entire armour would be a Minor’s.

I’d honestly rather just not even have the option to mix and match available. A large part of the fiction behind Sangheili is their focus on discipline, and order. It would make no fictional sense for an Elite to have mismatched armour, with the only fictionally canon representation of any Elite ever doing so being Rtas 'Vadum in Halo 3, he was likely donning the Combat helmet because in a non-combat environment, a sealed helmet is just a silly, uncomfortable thing to wear. With the non-canonical reason obviously being so he would be recognizable from Halo 2 with his torn jaws.
And since multiplayer is supposed to be all “Canon” now, it just wouldn’t make sense to have mismatched armour among the Covenant Separatist ranks.
As a Spartan player I was forced to mix and match and I just didn’t get that feeling of a sleek, futuristic knight in shining armor that I got in past games.
It was great that Halo 4 brought full sets back but I would’ve liked to have some arm and leg armor to go with my Pathfinder as well with at least the majority of armor sets. Only Mk VI, Mk V, ODST, Prefect, FOTUS, Ricochet and Recruit are truly complete sets. Something I hope they fix in Halo 5.
Wearing a complete armor set should be readily available to Elites and Spartans.
