Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

Personally I play as more of a Spartan than an elite, but I do have best friends who are Elites and I would love to see the return of elites in matchmaking, maybe even have their own matchmaking experience under infinity. With the return of elites in matchmaking would mean the return of INVASION (my favorite gametype in reach even though I not really a team player) 343i will hopefully make elites in matchmaking.

> Perhaps we could have an option for how we want our Elite to be, both Height and muscle wise in the next installment. Although I would probably say that Reach or Halo 3 design would be the most probable, considering the level of distaste that the Elite community has shown toward the Halo 4 designs. Also the Halo 2 designs are almost the same as the Halo 3 design so I would lump them together. This could be an option if there is an Armory for Elites this time around.

That’s a good idea! That would be great for customisation! However, would it effect gameplay too much? After all, the taller and bulkier you are, the bigger hit-box you’ll have. If there was a way to balance this out, then I’d be all for it!

Well I am pretty sure that Spartans were also different height and muscle toned also from what I remember back in the books. Considering that not every Spartan and Elites do look the same of course.

It would be pretty shocking to me if we were ignored again! And yes Reach and 3 is probably the best way to go when it comes to Elites.

Indeed! I wonder if something like this could work out?

I seem to recall that in the game ‘Soul Calibur V’ you could decide the height of your character in ‘Character Creation’. The bigger you were, the stronger you were, but you were easier to hit. Meanwhile, the smaller you were, the weaker you were, but you were harder to hit.

I know that this system probably wouldn’t work in a game like Halo, but still, if it could be balanced out…

I concur. If Elites aren’t playable this time I will be very surprised, and disappointed as well. :frowning:

Yea, it would be shocking being ignored again. The only thing is that I think they should have that you’re the same height like in H3, but not have hunchbacks like in H3 and have your player appearance like Halo Reach, obviously updated graphics.

Being ignored after having created the longest running thread in halo forum history would be very shocking indeed.

As for customization on the elite armoury, I had a thought: how about we allow a skyrim style character creation option, allowing to change certain things like eyes, mandibles, neck, etc. I for one would love to see depth like that in the game, that way you would have a unique identity as a player.

I wouldn’t want that much depth. We need to be realistic here.

It’s an idea, and something that could be achieved if enough time and effort would be put into it. This deeper form of customization could start small to keep all the effort on it to go to waste if it was unpopular. Afterwards the variety of choices could grow larger over time if this deeper customization was popular enough with the community.

I would love to see that much customization but given the ****storm the height debate started I doubt it will happen which sucks because I really don’t see the problem!

In-depth customization options are unlikely, given the time 343i has.I wouldn’t mind if it pushed back the release date to take more time on improving the game, and especially the Sangheili.I thought it was rather odd however that the Limited Edition Sangheili armour in Reach was that of a Field Officer,I hope that there will be another limited Sangheili armour permutation but that off a high ranked figure.I do hope 343i produces more limited material than there has ever been in any other Halo, with plenty for Sangheili as well as Spartans.Since spartans can have some limited chest pieces like the Mark V chest plate,I don’t see why we can’t have special mandible guards made of hardlight. You know the textures of the orange substance in those Promethean fusion coils in the campaign, that’d be nice for the mandible guards. As for armour effects,it’d could be possible to have molten hardlight covered mandible guards dripping liquid onto the floor(Was just and idea at that time, does sound slightly grotesque),using the same substance texture stated above which would be an alternative to it.

> With your second idea sounds nice, but maybe it could be like the armor effect Pestilence from Halo Reach and have it drip on the floor as you walk.

Quick concept.I talked about incorporating Forerunner design elements into Sangheili armour, how about making the shoulders in the shape of Forerunner glyphs which glowed with some kind of Forerunner lighting texture, perhaps hardlight but in a different colour, maybe a nice, brilliant iridescent purple that changed shades depending on the angle of which it was viewed. We’ve seen hardlight in red, blue and orange,no reason to see why not purple.

Speaking of armour effects how about making miniature explosions,a firework kind of effects around the Sangheili/Spartan player. The color of which would resemble the flames seen on destroyed Covenant vehicles which would combust spontaneously around the player at random intervals. It’d be canonically accurate with Covenant technology and background in some remote form.

Councillors could receive a nice touch-up,their chest pieces could be more elaborate and protrusive, shoulders as well. The latter of which could gradually curve upwards as one moved up the shoulder pauldron.I’m sorta excited and worried at the same time to see 343i’s rendition on these classic ranks which hopefully will return, and yet I’m still constantly fretting over the possibility of them screwing the design up.

First off, can I just say how wonderful it is to see so many members from the Sangheili Community uniting under a singular cause? To see members of our community actually influencing things? Anyway,

> The only thing is that I think they should have that you’re the same height like in H3, but not have hunchbacks like in H3 and have your player appearance like Halo Reach, obviously updated graphics.

As much as I dislike the hunchback look Sangheili had in Halo 3, the look is pretty much canon. Throughout Halo 2 you can see Sangheili walk around standing tall, but as soon as they see an enemy they get into that sort of crouched, hunched over stance. As far as canon shows, that is their default ‘combat stance’, so to make Sangheili stand up straight during multiplayer kind of wouldn’t make sense. However, that’s not to say that the hunchback should be as noticeable as it was in Halo 3.

Additionally, instead of focusing on making Sangheili more comparable in size to the SPARTAN-IVs, maybe the opposite could be done? When you compare the Chief (7’2") to the typical S-IV, you see that they’re not so different in height. Now, given that the UNSC has just acquired an extensive amount of Forerunner technology (including an intact suit of Forerunner armor (which they used to make the Prefect variant)), couldn’t it be said that by the time Halo 5 happens (some time in the future), the SPARTAN-IV has received some major fundamental upgrades? Possibly to the point where they surpass the SPARTAN-IIs?

Anyway, on another point entirely, I hope they bring back armor customization from Halo 3. Obviously they won’t focus has heavily as they will with the SPARTANs, but still, it’d be nice to have more than five complete suits to choose from.

Finally, can we at least get some sort of in-game appearance of Thel 'Vadam? He’s been doing so much stuff in the Halo Universe since he was last actually seen in Halo 3, I’d hate for him to just become a plot device.

What i found disappointing in halo reach when it came to playable elites, wasn’t the level of customisation but how low unlocking finished. You finished by Lt. Colonel but your spartan would take all the way up to nova/eclipse?

> What i found disappointing in halo reach when it came to playable elites, wasn’t the level of customisation but how low unlocking finished. You finished by Lt. Colonel but your spartan would take all the way up to nova/eclipse?

I think for both Elites and Spartans a suit of armor should be unlocked every level or few levels, so I agree it was disappointing how few armor unlocks there was. I didn’t much care for matchmaking after getting the last Elite armor, I only went on invasion for the Elites and customs if I wanted to enjoy myself.

I just noticed this, but did anyone else? That guy who posted,Sgt Rorschach, voice acted for Perseus in Rise Of The Spartans and has ties with Arbiter 617,he posted a day ago and I saw it but I just realized.OMFG,we should be honoured if its really him.

Yea, if his name spelled correctly like it was last time I saw him in a raid, than yes its the voice actor. LOL.

Yea, it would be nice to see Thel. I’ve been waiting since H3.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see special aspects of weapons solely in campaign.Maybe the Arbiter’s sword in Halo 5 will be of a different color to symbolize status.A nice new addition to Thel’s arsenal would be special gauntlets with plasma blades on it,not entirely like the energy dagger where it came from a concealed slot, but actually originating from the arm where it would be displayed.A nice assassination animation would for Thel to melee an opponent, have the latter turn round and initiate a sick uppercut with those blades slice through the opponent, drawing blood.
