> The reason that Halo Nation offers two averages is because of Halo Reach/Wars.
>
> In Halo 1, 2, and 3, Elites stood at an average height of 7’4" and this was defined in all of the books as well.
>
> In Halo Wars, Ripa 'Moramee was described as being “Unusually Tall” for a Sangheili at a whopping 8’6" standing “Roughly a foot taller than most” (Again implying that the average height of an Elite was roughtly 7’6" and that Ripa was basically a freak of nature. (directly matching the 7’4" average set up by the original trilogy).
>
> Just visiting either a Halo Nation, or Halopedia page doesn’t really give accurate information all the time. The two numbers the first represents the average height as told to us by Halo 1-3, the second is the height of Ripa ‘Moramee, so while SEVERAL Elites stand about 7’4"-7’6" tall, Ripa was a single Elite standing what was described as a “Freakish” 8’6". That number is more a “maximum height” than an average.

> Then all of a sudden in Halo Reach, all the Elites in the game were gigantic. Easily hitting 8’ tall, if not taller. Why? Because “We wanted to make the Covenant scary in the Campaign.” Not because that’s what Elites are meant to look like, they are meant to look like they did in Halo CE.
>
> In Halo Reach, Elites were actually much TALLER than they are meant to be. And hud much larger heads than they should to. In fact, they were basically just wrong in all proportional ways.

> Here are the heights of Elites in Halo CE:

> Exhibit A: May be small, but we see that the Elite stands only marginally taller than the player.
>
> Exhibit B:Due to the animation he is in, this Zealot actually appears SHORTER than Master Cheif.
>
> Exhibit C: While it’s not necessarily clear due to the angle, the Elite is crouching slightly from it’s full height making it nearly the same size as Master Chief in Halo 2.
>
> Exhibit D:
> Even in Halo 4 when you play as Master Chief, the only parts of Elites that are really taller than you, are the parts sticking up on the armour.
This is were i come in and tell you the average Sangheili Height is 7,10 Ripa wasn’t a giant. Halo Wars wasa fluke of a Halo game and we all know this.
Xytam 'Jar Wattinree was a giant…not Ripa.
Not to mention that Ghost of Onyx came out before Halo Wars so this proves that elites are average 7,10.
I will say Ripa was tall but no giant. Compairng it to normal human sizes Ripa would be a 6,5. A tall guy but Xytam would be 9,3.
There hasn’t even been a person reconded being that tall.
But Someone being 6,5 is nothing new. You could walk down the street and maybe a 1/5 of the males you see could be that tall, maybe even a few females. Now put armor on Xytan and Ripa than Ripa might just be around 7,2 by normal human stands is -Yoinking!- huge. Than Put Xytan in armor and you still can’t compare the size of about 10 feet. So by means of normal size to a species who is accustomed to being larger than most aliens intelligent life they come across being 8,7 for an elite would just be a tall guy not a giant.

The book in which Xytan is portrayed also suggests that he isn’t actually as tall as depicted. By this, I mean that he was only shown thorugh a holo-projector and therefore could’ve up-scaled his image th be more imposing to his subordinates. He also was only shown with a large and ornate headdress (similar to the Elite Councilors of Halo 2), which further makes his actual size debatable.
Regardless, I feel that Elites, whether scaled down or not) offers an inconsistency in competitive multiplayer (easier to headshot from front, harder to headshot from back). That said, I would like to see them return as a playable race in a more fleshed-out and diverse re-imagining of Invasion, where the Covenant/Promethean team can take the form of various units of their respective factions (similar to Beast Mode and OverRun Mode of Gears of War 3 and Judgment, respectively).
By this I mean starting units allow for the choice of Suicide Grunt, Jackal, or a low-ranking Elite. However, similar to the mechanic of accumulating points to call down ordinance, you can “purchase” more powerful units to play as, such as Hunters, Zealots, Brute Chieftains, and even Promethean Knights. I do have a topic on this subject if you’d like to know more about the idea.
Sorry for repost mistake there. Its early in the morning…
