Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> I swear, am I the only Sangheili guy in this community that wants elites to be equal in height and strength like in halo 2, plus have the appearance of Halo Reach? Hell I want Sangheili to be put in EVERY playlist like in the Halo 2 and 3 days. Why does everyone else want elites to be restricted from certain games? It’s so stupid, even invasion gets stupidly boring over time…

Thats why I suggest a playlist with Elites being playable.

Spartan-Only Playlists,
Elite-Only Playlist
Invasion-Mix
Custom Games-Mix

it’s a Win/Win.

but if they do mix up the Elites I’m cool with that to,

Again, do you really think 343i is going to make a playlist just for Elites? Why would they bother making an entire playlist for Elites, which means you won’t even notice the difference in height since there are no Spartans, instead of doing what worked just fine for 2 Halo games and let Elites be in every playlist?

We are talking about basing the Elite player model off of an Elite that’s just 4 inches under average height. That’s all it would take to make Elites in every, or most, playlists! There’s no special advantage or feeling to being an Elite, there only was one in Reach because the Spartan III’s were shorter and not on par with Spartan II’s.

Why are some of you guys are making something that is so incredibly simple become complicated.

I want to be an Elite 15 feet tall! O yeah baiting an internet fight>:) For real now I could live with four inches.

Why are some people so bloody stubborn the only way 343 is going to consider elites in MP is if they are the same height as spartans, seriously all it means is being scaled down 4" to fit. Now what would be awesome if they included elites in Halo 5’s MP this way would be if they included the ability to change skin colour from a range of presets (maybe replace the change -Yoink!- option with the elites as that would cut the amount of work that would need to be done on the model.)

Sangheili in MP in halo 5 wishlist:
A complete armoury of lots of different types of armour including pieces from Halo 3, Reach and 4.

A scaled down Sangheili model that is like the Halo: Reach model but stands at 7’

When the Sangheili model is selected the player card has a purple outline when searching and displays your Sangheili character.

As a guy who digs logic, evolution, science, and canon, it grinds my gears to see things like a 4" height decrease and a speed decrease in sangheili to create equal footing between spartans and elites when elites have those physical traits earned for them through evolution and biology. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tbh, I really didn’t have a problem with Reach’s elites, even though they were notably bigger due to SIII-elite height difference. I mean, I could tell where the head was so when I shot with a precision weapon, I got headshots. Melees were the same so fistfights weren’t a problem. The only thing that bothered me about elites back in Reach was the fact they got stickies in their loadouts whilst spartans got frags, they could occasionally outrun me to a power weapon, and that using the sniper rifle on them was a bit of a challenge (mainly because I wasn’t that good with Reach’s sniper).

Idea for multiplayer:
If a clan system was returned to multiplayer like it was in Halo 2, perhaps we could have cool Covey emblems to support the players who wanted elite clans?

Question for people who want elites to be scaled/balanced to suit spartans: Don’t we get enough practice from shooting elites in campaign? Multiplayer elites are just more unpredictable and stiff.

I want to be an elite in Halo 5, wart wart wart.

> Sangheili need to be taller than Spartans at least and also a little faster. It is a trait of their bigger build and hence is a necessary implementation. You lose the feel of being a Sangheili slightly when being the same height as Spartans.
>
> On another note,I think there should be new ranks created for the Sangheili military doctrine, like certain specialist classes which experiment and utilise Promethean weaponry,or even have some kind of Covenant-Promethean mixed breed weapons. It’d be interesting to see the outcome, and make those Sangheili fight like real threats. The Rangers in Halo 4 did not use their anti-gravity packs to manoeuvre and simply pranced around like idiots.Thinking about it,I think a new AA should be engineered.A jump pack, unlike a jetpack it would propel you over long distances at minimal altitude,so it’d basically allow you to strafe.Equip Sangheili Zealots with these and they’d be awesome to fight with. That AA would also improve matchmaking experience and dynamism.
>
> I also suggest brand new game types, something like invasion.Where Spartans and Sangheili would fight each other for control over a Forerunner structure like those you see in Spartan Ops.There would be Promethean AI that would attack players from both sides.Switches would be located at strategic points which would be areas of intense combat which would be able to change up the terrain and geometry of the interior of the building to provide a rapidly changing environment which would force players to adapt quickly. This would also block and allow access to certain areas.

perhaps you lost that feeling like a Sangheili when your not all over powered because your taller and faster, but to me I lost that feeling of being a Sangheili when I cannot actually win fair and square against Spartans in the same playlist as them. Does being taller and faster really make you feel any better just because you had advantages that piss off others? Because of that same damn thing that happens in Halo Reach, that’s also the same reason why we are separated from the Spartans in Reach, and we got kicked off the multiplayer in Halo 4. I’m sorry, but I have to 100% disagree with your ideas.

No, it is not a win/win situation, that’s more likely to segregate the players from wanting to play with and against each other in a play list that they want to battle in anyways. There should never be separations in gametypes to begin with if people want to play Halo for the sake of fighting in the same games or even having fun in it.

how does being 1 foot taller, jumping 2 feet higher, and running 5% faster make you guys feel different. i play as sangheili all the time, and i don’t feel any different. I just want to be equal with spartans and be playable in all game-types. why is that so hard?

To make it realistic,Sangheili need to be taller, which is a disadvantage, but should be a little faster to balance it.We don’t lose the feeling of being a Sangheili because we’re not overpowered,we lose it because we don’t feel like one,as if its a purely cosmetic change and does not affect height and other factors etc.Lets keep Sangheili the way they are, taller and larger with proportional killboxes and being slightly faster. And I thought Sangheili were equal in to that of strength of Spartans,in Reach they had the same melee strength.I joined this thread because I had a real passion of being a Sangheili and I just loved their implementation into the game, not due to the fact that they are ‘OP’.The latter of which may be controversial.

What if 343 created the illusion of increased height? The actual height of Elites when compared to Spartans should be the same (keeping hitboxes the same), but the first person camera on elites sits a little higher off the ground, letting you look over Spartans. 343 can even increase field of view to make you seem to move faster.

Perhaps me and you played as elites far differently from each other. You want to keep the elites as they were since Halo Reach, a bit too tall for us to be in spartan made maps and wanting them to be faster. Me, I want them to be like the good bungie days of Halo 2/3 and not give a darn about cosmetics or whatever. Hell, I hate the current changes that the elites have become recently. Where is that same Sangheili honor that elite clans or anyone had today that they use to before Reach?

well then how about this.

Spartan-Only Playlists,
Elite-Only Playlist
Invasion-Mix
Mixed-Playlist
Custom Games-Mix

but how is that bad. atleast we won’t have to be forced into being Spartans when we don’t want to. plus as long as that canon concept is still being used. it is highly unlikely we will have Spartans and Elites mixed in all playlists like in Halo 3.

however I would like for them o dot hat like they did in Halo 3.

What? What is this logic?? Mind my outburst, but seriously, the community has CLEARLY shown it would rather have elites and spartans be united in multiplayer than segregated!

It still is bad anyways, your ideas still force people to be a specific type of race in play list while taking away the freedom of who they want to play as. Heck how bout getting rid of the elite play list and the spartan only playlist idea and let everyone be what they want to be in any kind of game types. I’m sick and tired of what cannon on multiplayer had done for everyone on the multiplayer scale.

Seems like a great idea aBaldGinger,it is really about the feel of the gameplay. This would satisfy me who would like to be taller and slightly faster and other people whom want equivalent height and dimensions of player models. But is it possible, this sounds completely new to me.However, excellent suggestion.

> how does being 1 foot taller, jumping 2 feet higher, and running 5% faster make you guys feel different. i play as sangheili all the time, and i don’t feel any different. I just want to be equal with spartans and be playable in all game-types. why is that so hard?

It gives a better feeling of being a Sangheili for some people. I personally enjoy the extra traits, but if those traits are going to keep Elites out of multiplayer than I’d rather they just get rid of the traits.
BTW maybe for halo 4 343 can just implement Elite armor skins over Spartans, so we’d see Elites that look like Elites face-wise and armor-wise. The story could be ONI created infiltration suits which they would send out to Spartans for testing specifically in the war-games room on Infinity to keep them from damage in the field. The suits could keep the players at the same height since they are in a testing phase and which ONI will add the height feature later on. It’s not Elites but its better than nothing for now.

I can’t believe that there are people who honestly think that they can fix the segregation issue that Halo: Reach had – by segregating playable races into Elite-only and Spartan-only playlists with a “mixed playlist” on the side.

Your way of “fixing” it simply causes further segregation. That is not fixing it. You have done nothing to fix it. You did nothing. In fact you have made it worse.

Instead of cleanly splitting two communities into two separate playlists, you’ve managed to split them into not just two, but three, where one is a fractured “mixed playlist”.

This will cause the following to happen: Once a majority of players prefer to play as only a particular race against another particular race in any one playlist, the “mixed playlist” will become a barren lifeless wasteland.

Additionally;

> What if 343 created the illusion of increased height? The actual height of Elites when compared to Spartans should be the same (keeping hitboxes the same), but the first person camera on elites sits a little higher off the ground, letting you look over Spartans. 343 can even increase field of view to make you seem to move faster.

No thanks. Inconsistent hitboxes is quite literally the worst thing you can ask for in a First Person Shooter.

Can we not get a fair trial on this situation at all? Obviously we have the derps who are like OH TEH NOES LEETS D: (as if you know, it didn’t work in Halo 3???)

Seriously, what was seriously wrong with the game mechanic idealistic term of the mixed species in halo 3? Playing as a Sangheili was obviously a bad idea, while playing swat, (which we’ll point out disadvantages at this point) as to where humans can duck behind small chest high walls (hurr hurr gears reference here) where even if a sangheili were to try that they’ve still be dead-meat.

Neither species ran any faster than the other, nor did they jump any higher, they were just taller-- and to come to their defense (as I would rather play as them as well) they’re rather disadvantaged to start. The honorable sangheili players; the ones who stuck to their game on Halo 3 have my sincere blessing; so to speak.

I honestly don’t know what the subject has to even partially argue about in the first place. If I want to be a 9 foot tall hulking (-Yoink!-) badass who can get shot more easily and make your K/D spread rocket into the clouds what the hell is the problem?
