The question is whether or not you guys want Elites in every playlist, or just a few.
I wouldn’t count on 343i giving more than one elite playlist.

I would to have playlists where you would pretty much have also have Sangheili BTB, Sangheili slayer, and where they are all Sangheili.(both teams) Also without discarding regular BTB and slayer.

I don’t see any reason for it when they worked fine in Halo 2 and 3, minus the hitbox issues, and back then they were in pretty much every playlist because it wasn’t a huge problem. Do you guys want Elites to be segregated and limited like they were in Reach? The reality of the situation is that Elites aren’t really popular enough to justify 1 playlist solely for them, it’s like demanding a playlist for only people that wear Recon. If you guys keep asking them for Elites to be different statistically, then expect it to be like Reach where you almost never get to play as an Elite.

No. I’ve a part of the Halo Elite community for over 6 years. Anyone who deserves to call themselves an Elite fan should have ONE priority. Full freedom to play as Elites in Matchmaking. With those imbalances, we can NEVER have the satisfaction of playing BTB, Team Slayer, Team Objective etc. While maintaining our Elite identity. We don’t need another muck up like Reach.
I can PERFECTLY understand them having a custom option to turn a game into either Spartans or Elites only so there can be Elites removed in SWAT, Snipers, and MLG/Throwdown, as well as possibly a Covenant Slayer?
But our number one priority must be that Elites can be used at will in MOST of the playlist in the game. Not that we look a little taller (which you won’t even really notice unless you’re pressed up aganst eachother anyway), move faster (we’re already much faster than Reach spartans anyway in 4), regenerate shields faster (Recharge mod will be in H4 anyway), or buffed shields, which never should have been considered to begin with.
The fact of the matter is, fictionally Spartans and Elites are evenly matched in terms of strength, and speed. The only benefit the Spartans actually have is “luck” and a more advanced emphasis on Teamwork in their training, while Elites are trained primarily for solo combat. Spartans also have a faster reflex time, due to a slowed perception of time caused by increased neural activity, but I see no way they could possibly implement that as a game mechanic without making playing as an Elite like playing a Water Level in any video game ever (which as we all know, ALWAYS sucks).
Make them evenly matched, don’t hunch their backs, and just physically scale their size down while maintaining a straight-standing pose. Job done. Elites in Matchmaking with nothing for Spartans to complain about.
The fact you could be an Elite in Halo 3 MP whenever was my favorite thing about it

Is there really anything wrong with doing this? All I did was take the Elite model from Reach, and scale it to 85% of it’s initial size.

How about a compromise where Elites are scaled down a little but not enough so that you don’t feel like an elite and spartans are scaled up (remember threes were shorter) like the spartan twos and fours. Quite frankly height was never an issue for me as all it required was moving the reticule a miniscule amount. As for cover issues just make Sangheili where they crouch lower than spartans so they can fit behind cover just like a spartan.

Spartan II’s and SIV’s are on average 7’ tall, Elites can range from 7’4" to over 8’.
For God’s sake, why is it really this big of an issue with some members of the Elite community to have their player model based on an Elite that’s a little shorter than average?

I still say having it just cosmetic and then giving the players to option to see what species they want is the best one to go with.
If we had elites even remotely bigger or remotely faster, someone, somewhere would complain. And, if they were bigger then the previous idea wouldn’t work. If I was taller on my screen than I was on theirs, I’d be able to headglitch cover and abuse the height advantage.
That is assuming I am playing as an elite and they opt only spartans however.
343i ruined the look of Elites. They look like apes. I’s rather go watch Planet of the Apes on BluRay.
I swear, am I the only Sangheili guy in this community that wants elites to be equal in height and strength like in halo 2, plus have the appearance of Halo Reach? Hell I want Sangheili to be put in EVERY playlist like in the Halo 2 and 3 days. Why does everyone else want elites to be restricted from certain games? It’s so stupid, even invasion gets stupidly boring over time…
Is it true that when this thread hits 800 likes it’ll be stickied to the top of the forum?
I thought I read that, like, 50 pages back haha.
If so, we’re close!

I don’t know either man. That 5% speed boost and 1’ height advantage is somehow more appealing than Elites in every playlist to some people for reasons I cannot understand.

Agreed.

LOL it seems it is only the elites with the Halo 4 Zealot that want that.

I am confused. When i see the thread it has about 175. No where near 800. ( not trying to sound mean)

He was referring to the amount of Thanks on the first post
Sangheili need to be taller than Spartans at least and also a little faster. It is a trait of their bigger build and hence is a necessary implementation. You lose the feel of being a Sangheili slightly when being the same height as Spartans.
On another note,I think there should be new ranks created for the Sangheili military doctrine, like certain specialist classes which experiment and utilise Promethean weaponry,or even have some kind of Covenant-Promethean mixed breed weapons. It’d be interesting to see the outcome, and make those Sangheili fight like real threats. The Rangers in Halo 4 did not use their anti-gravity packs to manoeuvre and simply pranced around like idiots.Thinking about it,I think a new AA should be engineered.A jump pack, unlike a jetpack it would propel you over long distances at minimal altitude,so it’d basically allow you to strafe.Equip Sangheili Zealots with these and they’d be awesome to fight with. That AA would also improve matchmaking experience and dynamism.
I also suggest brand new game types, something like invasion.Where Spartans and Sangheili would fight each other for control over a Forerunner structure like those you see in Spartan Ops.There would be Promethean AI that would attack players from both sides.Switches would be located at strategic points which would be areas of intense combat which would be able to change up the terrain and geometry of the interior of the building to provide a rapidly changing environment which would force players to adapt quickly. This would also block and allow access to certain areas.
If the Elites are taller than spartans, it makes the “being able to set which species you want to see” idea impossible to do.
Headglitchers would be everywhere because if a person playing as a Spartan set it to all Spartans, and there was somebody playing as an Elite (who would still see elites), then that elite would be taller than the spartan hitbox.
With this, they could abuse the cover in such away that they could shoot without physically getting shot at.
In other words, if the Elites are anything more than a cosmetic difference, they will be locked in their own playlists like they were in Reach.
My suggetion then, is having a setting for Specific gametypes like Invasion that allow you to edit player size and other physical traits of the two species seperately. This way, one could create an Inavasion gametype that was more canonically accurate and you could go there to feel more like an Elite than a spartan.
This will allow Elites to play in every playlist, with a specific playlist for the traits you want.
I meant the fact that Sangheili would have larger hitboxes to make it proportional to their size,no glitching or any nonsense like that.

I just want to play as an Elite. 343 wants canon. If I want to be a real Elite I have to have the advantages the Elites have in order for it to be canon. If I want to have gameplay balanced then I can’t be a real Elite since it wouldn’t fit canon to have the same height, speed, and jump height as Spartans do. Instead I would be a representation of an Elite controlling some sort of Elite hologram or something and some people want the feeling of being a real Elite again. Instead we need a compromise between the two by being able to be a real Elite but being restricted somehow by canonical means to balance gameplay. I personally feel that the height of an Elite is fixed if I want to be a real Elite, but the speed and jump height could be changed using canon like heavier armor or something. Invasion is something you can take from to see how much advantage the Elites had, the Spartans still ended up winning sometimes because of their skill at other times it was the Elites who won. In the end I just want to be an Elite, and have the feel of an Elite when I’m in the fight.

That could make it fair for taller Sangheili. Maybe it just needs to be tested.
