Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> -snip!-

Don’t forget the Contoured wrists / legs. Those are based off Sangheili armor. You can totally see the similarity in the Contoured wrists and the Halo 2 Elite wrist guards.

Anything to bring back the experience of playing as one of my favorite bad### aliens.

Comparing Reach to 4’s Sangheili armour,I really felt 343i slacked on the Elite ranks.Halo 4 had only 5 Sangheili ranks while Reach had 8.I want back my full body armour and no exposed arms or that nonsense.Even if we can’t play as Sangheili it still affects campaign gameplay experience. In Reach, whenever you battled a Zealot or Field Marshall,it was like a miniature boss battle, like fighting a Knight Battlewagon.Zealots simply aren’t what they were anymore.A few suggestions is that we bring back Field Marshalls and create an even higher rank to that of Field Marshall. When we battle the higer tiered Sangheili they will be supported and protected by subordinates and the superiors will attempt to escape occasionally depending on the mission. It’d be cool if in one mission in Halo Xbox One we had to infiltrate a key Covenant controlled area,an epicentre for supplies and logistics for the Covenant armada. Objective: To assassinate a loyal & fanatical Sangheili aristocrat to the Prophets(if they appear in halo Xbox One),if not in that case to Jul 'Mdama. The Sangheili will have extremely ornate glowing armour and its helmet will have a look of a hard light crown running down the angled helmet. The crown will not look similar to that of a royal’s crown, but will be like a space frame forged of silver like metal and have hard light diamonds, the colour combination of which is commonly seen on promethean weaponry. This aesthetic will not be separate of the helmet but a part of it,an extension not a accessory. His energy sword will illuminate an orange-gold tint to state rank & position.343i can create an armour permutation exactly like that named ‘Aristocrat’ with the mantra ‘The Prophets Guide Us In Words And In Spirit’ or something like ‘The Divine Right To Rule Bestowed Upon Us By The Prophets’.

The reason the Covenant aren’t as well armored or equipped in Halo 4 is because they are the “Storm” covenant, they’re merely rebels to the Sangheilios current peace with humans (Thel 'Vadam trying to get his fellow Sangheili to agree to a peace treaty with the humans) and remnants of the old religion.

An imperial admiral like in the books perhaps?

I know but Sangheilli are naturally very intelligent beings, they achieved space-faring status without intervention of other species. They have a ‘might over science’ ideology which can be reversed with a canonical tweak.Do that and we can have Sangheili scientists designing improved combat harnesses and weapons.343i really need more attention to detail for the torsal armour. Its always been the least sophisticated bart of the armour, even in Reach they were slightly bland.I hope they can learn from Bungie and improve on it.The Sangheili Warrior’s torsal armour in Halo 4 looks like a Recruit chest plate for a spartan, not exactly appealing. The armour leaves a lot to be desired,it looks like they were fashioned by apes. However the Sangheili Officer in Halo 4 has that nice central gem in the chest plate, thats a step forward in giving it greater elegance.

Oh yes,I would like to see the return of the Jiralhanae variant of the Plasma Rifle,or at least something very similar in that context. With controllable alternating firing sequences,e.g. semi auto and full auto. It’d be nice if they brought back the Plasma Rifle, retextured it and change a few design elements but still keeping it original, and include a special function like and overcharge.Maybe somehing like holding down X to overload the battery and cause an explosion with a wide AOE.Something like a kamikaze, sounds stupid but cool, nothing like a noble sacrifice to kill more on the opposing team.On a more serious note we can change it so we can have a fully automatic small plasma bursts like the original plasma Rifle,or use an overcharge function which would combine several plasma shots together forming a stream of pure plasma, like the focus rifle but not as strong. It will cause more damage but overheat faster, this will make it viable for people who would prefer accuracy in an automatic weapon.Dual wielding sounds OP with a function like this but we could balance it by making running speed 5% slower and having take a longer time to melee an enemy, naturally due to the fact that having 2 weapons increases weight load and slows reaction time.Meleeing while dual wielding will be possible.Just some suggestions.

Perhaps the red Plasma Rifle texture can come as a skin?

If they can add new weapon skins, armour skins, entirely new armours, maps, and gametypes into multiplayer. There is absolutely no excuse for why Elites couldn’t be added as well.

Moa mentioned above that he doesn’t believe that there are enough elite supporters for it to be worth having had them in Halo 4. But I’d like to rebuttal that by saying that if Elites were in Halo 4, the vast majority of Elite players who only abandoned Halo 4 over the lack of their favourite split-jawed avater, wouldn’t be sitting on Reach right now, and Halo 4 would probably still have a higher population count than Reach. Just sayin’. As well, you claim that because this Forum is a small percentage of the Halo playing community as a whole, it doesn’t represent everyone. This is true in one respect, however if 343i were to use this forum as a “Controlled Group” much like how almost anyone trying to get an unbiased poll would conduct a survey of a certain number of random people. 343i would then be forced to assume that the ratio of supporters vs non supporters on this forum can be carried over to the community as a whole (say, if 10% of this forum is supportive of Elites being brought back, it can be assumed that 10% of Halo players as a whole are ALSO supportive).

That’s the power of logic.

I think the number would be 10% or less for those who actually don’t want them to return because as I’ve mentioned before I can count the number of people who have said as much on one hand, with the remaining 90% or more either not having any strong feelings about it or thinking the option would be nice, and then we have us who actively are asking for their return and according to this thread that is no small number.

Good idea up until there. If Elites are in MP i want it to feel and play like an elite, which means being taller and stronger.

Elites are about 1 foot taller than a regular Spartan and they are equal in strength. Assuming the Elites are really similar to Oriental cultures and practice similar martial arts training, it’s perfectly acceptable to believe that they would lower their center of balance by crouching a bit or something.

Except when they’re running fast or sprinting. I think we all can agree it’s not good on the knees to be hunched over while sprinting :P.

On topic, I would definitely want elites to return into matchmaking and yes, with difference in their size and speed. I don’t think its going to kill people to have to adjust their shooting between two targets.

Assuming the Elites are really similar to Oriental cultures and practice similar martial arts training, it’s perfectly acceptable to believe that they would lower their center of balance by crouching a bit or something.

Believe me it will. People, including myself, hated it in Halo 3 when Elites weren’t killable by headshots in gametypes like SWAT. A simple fix in that hitbox problem would’ve made people happy. This will not make people outside of the Elite fan community happy. Does it really bother you so much that you’re not better than a Spartan, or that you’re not taller? I do not understand what’s the big freaking deal with this. Halo 2 and Halo 3 Elites were fine for the most part, making them have a difference such as a height advantage will result in them getting excluded out of playlists like Reach.

Also, you can move just fine without fully extending your legs as you walk. I don’t think Elites would have any more trouble.

We “Felt like Elites” just fine in Halo 2 and 3 when we were the same height and strength as a Spartan. The fact is if we want FULL Elite support, we have to accept that Elites will need to be statistically the same as Spartans.

Besides, go play Halo 1 and 2 campaign, the Elites really didn’t seem to be bigger than you. In fact, you almost felt like you looked them in the eye.

Halo fiction was ALWAYS better when Elites were considered a WORTHY RIVAL TO SPARTANS. Not better, not worse.

@Assassin 11D7:Height is technically NOT an advantage,it increases profile.

Anyways I wouldn’t mind being bigger than spartans,it is after all, natural that Sangheili are taller and be slightly larger targets.Player controlled Sangheili were slightly faster than their Spartan counterparts, and with health bars being seemingly excluded from future Halos hence negating the fact that Sangheili feature auto health regeneration,I think that the slight speed boost is rather fair given the larger Sangheili hitbox. It may not seem like much but a larger profile really limits the amount of coverage you get from hiding behind objects, especially for the Ultra rank, your giant helmet would stick out of lower cover, hence I stake my claim that the higher speed would be fair.

What about hit boxes? Elite heads hang forwards, making headshots from the back far more difficult. A strong-siding elite would probably be impossible to headshot.

kk

If we give all these boosts to Elites than I think it fair to give Spartans boosts as well to balance it out. If Elites are going to be stronger then they’re going to hit harder. The canonical explanation we could have here so that it is also balanced is that Spartans have stronger shields than Elites because Humanity have been studying forerunners for a bit longer now and have found upgrades that are available. The height of an Elite isn’t going to be a problem since while it does give advantages to an Elite it also balances with some disadvantages while it is accompanied by neutralities. If Elites need to be faster then their shields will need to be weaker because of someone who might miss a shot. Of course their shields being “weaker” would actually be at normal strength while Spartans will need an extra shot or 2 from anything to die, therefore an Elite player will need to maneuver more.
