Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> > > > Well guys, Microsoft is going to make Halo a TV series for the new Xbox One, not only that it’ll possibly feature characters from the games but this may also be a chance to see some elite characters and stories developed too (hopefully not the ones that are like the ones in Spartan Ops cutscenes: slow, dull, and easily killed).
> > >
> > > I will preface this with an apology, for I am against the idea of a halo TV series at this time…
> > >
> > > I HIGHLY doubt we will see a Sangheili character (Or a Sangheili character that resembles the Sangheili we know and love) simply because its a TV show, a lot of people who are not familiar with halo are going to be watching it and they will simply not understand the importance, relevance, etc of the Sangheili. Its like if you watched Game of Thrones and there was an ‘other’ character, people who didn’t read the books won’t have a clue what or who they are.
> > > Think of what critics will say, “There was a strange alien named ‘The Arbiter’ whose role was not explained and was hard to connect with, not only that but he was fighting with the humans against his own species, this kind of complex early story is confusing and badly done”.
> > >
> > > And keep in mind Karen Travis may be working on it too, think of how terribly done the Sangheili characters would be… Its not that I’m against Sangheili characters in a Halo TV show, its that I’m against a Halo TV show at this time simply because of the host of cannon mistakes and bad writing that 343 has exhibited at this time, maybe if they waited 5 years and got their act together, but considering they have only had the franchise for 2-3 years, and so far done a horrid (in my opinion) job with the writing, I’d say this will just be a train wreck that will make the ‘outside’ world think less of halo fans and the halo series.
> > >
> > > /rant
> >
> > I don’t why they ever let Traviss touch Halo=( If worst comes to worst maybe some fan fic writers and modders can get together and make our own un-official halo, but hopefully it won’t come to that. Either I think I will find myself ignoring a lot of what 343 has done canon wise in Halo 4 and elsewhere. Looking at you armor that should have been mark 7.
>
> you can say my lack of faith is disturbing due to the fact that I have none left with 343i at all. So I would recommend you start getting your fic writers and modders ready.

Well I am learning to texture and have experimented with writing (it isn’t that great) can anyone else do anything that would be helpful with this? I know there are Halo mods out there but I think most of them are conversions of existing games and not their own story. I am still hoping that 343 fixes their ####, but even if they do it would still be interesting to see a fan made Halo.

So,is everyone still mopping around about this whole TV thing or can we all just get back on topic about the Future about Sangheili in the later games? Seriously, it gets awfully annoying when people lack any hope around.

Who wants to wear doarmir pelts on their sangheili as an equivalent to the Spartans cloak on the scout armor?

I would enjoy a campaign about an Elite aside from the campaign about chief. Maybe we could play as the Arbiter in this separate campaign, and maybe the campaigns could intertwine so that we would have either Arby as an AI while playing as Chief or Chief as an AI while playing as Arby.

Though I did find the campaign in Halo 4 enjoyable when you played with other people they were all chief. I’d rather 343 just let people be whoever their character is when playing with you and let them wear whatever armor, meanwhile the host of the game can be chief.

> Who wants to wear doarmir pelts on their sangheili as an equivalent to the Spartans cloak on the scout armor?

Maybe an option for different back armors should be added. The doarmir pelt would be included, and maybe for both Elites and Humans.

Sorry about that, it just gets annoying when 343 seems to not notice our existence when we are one of the top threads on here.

I saw a post about how 343 hired people who loved Halo. Though both the post and I doubt they loved all of Halo for what it was, and took some of the beautiful pieces away because they personally didn’t like it. That might have included Elites, which could be an explanation to why we are seemingly ignored. This is just a theory. Though if this would be true then 343 might consider themselves as the community and work mostly with what they want in Halo, while we would see ourselves ignored unless our wishes does not push them to a point they do not like.

As far as I’m concerned they had better learn to listen or I will leave! At very least 740+ people want Elites back and that amount of people could have given Halo 4 some much needed population right now, so keep treating us like we don’t matter 343 see where that has gotten you!

There were thousands of sangheili in my clan community that haven’t give a thanks on this page. I’m sure that they would if they heard of it.

Then words of our cause need to spread farther. Having a rather large increase in favorites might attract the eye of 343 quite quickly, and perhaps that eye will grow ears to listen to us.

Oh, awesome idea. Sort of like Battlefront II.
You could have faction wars MM. So you have Jul’s Elites, Thel’s, Brutes and the UNSC, can’t think of any more factions ATM, it’s too early. Each would be differently equipped and Brutes would get no shield recharge but an increase in speed and melee power once the shield is depleted. Maybe +50% for each?

I agree get the Elite sin matchmakeing, and get 343 to listen, hmmm…maybe they are listening. their just still dealing with the other problems.

I hope 343 learns how to make a good halo game cause to be honest it’s easier to find lobbys in reach, Every video I’ve seen from someone at 343 you could see bluntly a fake/lack of excitment were as with bungie (exc.frank connor) they had genuine passion/excitment for what they made.

> Who wants to wear doarmir pelts on their sangheili as an equivalent to the Spartans cloak on the scout armor?

I’d love that. Though it would have to be an unlock for either a higher rank or a limited edition add-on. Doarmir pelts are only traditionally used by Shipmasters. Otherwise, I think that’s a great idea.

The thing is, they may have hired people who like Halo (a person who “loves” a franchise must love it for what it is and what it was, not only certain parts of it, as some in 343i have shown), but not for the same reasons we do. My view on this matter is that they either do not understand our want to play as a Sangheili, or (scarily) they simply are not aware that such views exist. The latter point would explain some of the multi-player and story choices made under 343i, but this should not be possible. As Dachilla says, there are 700+ people on these forums who have shown there support for this cause. It is not possible for them to ignore this thread.

They are listening. And that’s what scares me. They need to respond. Not only to compliments and positive comments, but to criticism and anger. This is the only way to improve. If a painter were to never take criticism, would he ever improve? No. He would simply continue to paint in a way that never would never lead to better technique, nor better results. Ignoring this thread and the wonderful ideas being brought up will have many more disadvantages than advantages. Treating our plight as insignificant will only alienate even more of the community.

If I find by Halo 5 that no criticism from the events of Halo 4 and Kilo-five has been taken, I will be joining you Dachilla.

Nevertheless, the only thing we can do at the moment is to continue posting, showing our determination to make our views heard. We will get a response sooner or later.

That’s another likely theory. We aren’t the only community and there are seemingly lots of dissatisfied communities that 343 has to work on. If 343 is listening then they should have put Elites on their list of things to do, it might not come right away, but better late then never.

Their original goal was to remove Elites to remove any new players being alienated from Halo. Now we have Elite players being alienated from Halo and some of those new players moving back to the games they came from.

I know because I am also a member of the ODST community (also retconned by Karen Traviss) and I used to alternate between an ODST and a Sangheili, but since 343 has screwed me over on both accounts when I play Reach or any other Halo I have decided to always be a Sangheili until 343 fixes their mistakes.

In other news one night when I decided to check how Halo 4 was doing I think that Reach actually had more players! Halo 4 was doing so bad that there was only 12 players in team objective which is only enough for one full game! Other game modes only had 21 players and Reach had more people in TDM! I’ll say it again this is what happens when 343 ignores some of their most dedicated fans! The new fans they wanted to attract merely left them for Black Ops 2. Don’t get me wrong I like Call of Duty as well as it was one of the first games I ever played and I don’t appreciate people hating on it, but lately I always find myself returning to Halo, or more specifically Reach. Ever since I became a fan of Halo I have been a passionate fan and it would be nice to see at least the same level of passion from 343!

On the idea of pelts, I think that would be pretty cool, maybe add a slightly ‘rustic’ feel to the sangheili, canonically think of all of the colonies the covenant had, not to mention the large numbers of fleets that are out of contact, I think the ‘hunters and woodsmen’ of the empire might be what we see more of in future games, it would be pretty awesome to see some of them.

Now people, on my post I said there WERE about 2000 sangheili in my community, but they left to other clans, communities, games, or just left xbox overall. My community has only about 800 people total. About 200 of them are sangheili. So it’s going to be difficult to find the other 1800 people.
