I think if they mixed invasion mode with dominion mode it would be awesome.
My idea for halo 5 invasion mode goes like this.
Team 1, Sangheili ofcourse, vs team 2, spartans. Basicly both teams have one base, a citadel or Tier 3 base (Tier 1 is a outpost, basicly like the bunker on the H3 map standoff, Tier 2 is a fort, basicly an equivalent of the H3 map Stand off, and Tier 3 which is basicly a full base) where teams spawn, collect weapons, get vehicles, etc.
Now there are several territories that each team can capture where they get a base, (bases will be stylized to the factions so Team 1 gets a covenant bunker, etc) now teams will get points from things like kills/hijacks/gamestuff and the team commander (if its a clan match, if its a public match it’ll do it automatically) will allocate these points to bases to upgrade bases in various aspects like defenses (Auto defenses, building strength, non-auto defenses, etc) and so on.
As teams expand they the map gets colored to show their territory and in these territories the team that owns them gets various buffs- but enemies will also get buffs, so while the defenders might get resupplies, attackers will get air strikes.
Now you may be wondering, Esro, this sounds more like dominion mode, where is the invasion aspect of it? And I’ll tell you! Not only will some maps be more focused on one side advancing then another, the majority of the maps will have a third, NPC faction, in the middle. They will only have one base, but it will be basicly an uber fort directly in the middle, and both teams will need to fight for control of different parts of it, Imagine Boneyard, fighting your way into the ship, and then to the core room… only to find you just made it through the outer defense! And then the real fun begins as you made your way to the pillar of autumn- and more exactly, to the bridge!
So from this you can tell that the maps would need to be very, very big, and thus the teams equally large. That being said teams will be broken down into companies, 16 people, strike teams, 8, and squads, 4. Obviously it probably wouldn’t be able to be handled by the xbox 360, but since halo 5 is most likely going to come out on the new xbox, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Anyways that’s my two cents for invasion mode, I just hope 343 actually reads the forums…
