Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> > Sigh it is now about 5 days till Halo 4 releases and quiet frankly I am finding it hard to be excited. They could still fix it with elite dlc but they won’t I don’t know why because people could probably mod playable elites but I guess that is to hard for 343 even though they made the game! At this point I am seriously considering cancelling my pre-order and using the money to get AC 3!
>
> You may be cancelling your pre-order because your preferred multiplayer skin isn’t in the game?
>
> What makes or breaks games for you has nothing to do with gameplay, story or atmosphere? All that it takes to go from spending no money to sixty dollars is a skin?
>
> This is silly, gentlemen. I’m not happy about elites being out either, but it’s a video game. Try to remember that when words like “discrimination” pop up in your heads.

I respect your viewpoint so please respect mine to. Btw your name is cool!

I am unsure if this has been brought up at any point in this thread, but Frank O’ Connor did say that players who preferred playing as an elite will be “pleasantly surprised in Halo 4”.
I hope he is directly referring to the playability of Elites, and not just that there may be some form of proper diversity in halo 4.
Personally, I think the aesthetic of Elites in Halo Reach was damn near perfect, and i must say the bar has been lowered in that regard in halo 4, for their armour at least. The Ranger armour in particular just looks ridiculous.
regardless, i am anxious to find out wether they will be playable in Forge and Custom
games at the very least.

As a final point, Frank O’ Connor also stated that, when Spartan Ops finally ends, there is the possibility that they may introduce Elite Ops (which is of course a placeholder name).

Honourable regards to all Elite community members,
Orra 'Sar Ephaloree.

I will never forget when I was reading the gameinformer magazine and it was stating in the Halo 4 article that “Elites will not be playable in competitive match making.” But that does not say anything about custom games and forge. So yes, my faith in the playable character still remains. All we need is custom and forge anyway. It would be nice to have elite slayer again. I liked that.

He never said Elite players would be pleasantly surprised, just fans of Invasion, which is what Dominion is for.

thats what I’ve ebn trying to tell them, I think some still hold on to the thought of them being playable in halo 4

> The second one was a photoshopped image which made it look like Frankie said that. When you went to the actual post, it was different.

Oh yeah!, now I remember

I appreciate your confidence but I hope you will excuse me if I don’t have a lot of faith in 343!

I asked one on the post in the thread on Halo 4 whom has played it early and the OP has said ‘No’ to Elites being as a playable character in Halo 4 period. Meaning they’re not in Custom Games nor Forge.

To voice our rage on this if we want Elites be in Halo 4, let 343 hear our call and hopefully bring them to DLC! As you know the DLC map packs will be released soon starting this winter. If 343 won’t bring Sangheilis as playable character in Halo 4 on the DLC, we look forward to play them on Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 5.

I have the game right now and cant find any options to play as Elites. I love Elites but the game is fun. Its not going to be a big problem but I would of liked them to be in there. Been a Elite in Halo 2/3.

the sentence I just Highlighted is the only way to play as Elites again, causr I don’t think playable character models (one in first person shooters specificly) has en done before. and I don’t think we can with current tech at the momment

My brother is a game designer and he says BS! It is possible and it has been done before!343 just doesn’t care enough!

Does your brother know exactly how the Halo 4 engine works and the extent they would have to go to, to make Elites playable in Halo 4?

They’d have to redesign the HUD for all the maps they wanted Elites to be featured on, they’d need to actually update the .map files to add the Elite models to War Games, as well as a canon reason as to why Elites are in a Spartan IV training imulation.

Let’s not forget the balance issues, after said canon reason, they’d need to make the Elites more powerful than the Spartan IVs like they are in single player.

War Games focuses on your Spartan IV this time around and your career aboard the UNSC Infinity, hence why Multiplayer was renamed to War Games, you are involved with War Games (Spartan IV simulations) aboard the UNSC Infinity.

It may be entirely & easily possible in other games, but in Halo, it is near impossible due to how much work has to go into it.

i for one am glad to see the elites gone. If the the chief can take one down with 3 shots from the AR in the books it shows how weak they are. Im not trolling im stating my opinion.

> i for one am glad to see the elites gone. If the the chief can take one down with 3 shots from the AR in the books it shows how weak they are. Im not trolling im stating my opinion.

and we all ahve a right to disagree, the only reasont he cheif could kill one was one, he is the strongest of all the spartans and two he’s the main protagonist.

> i for one am glad to see the elites gone. If the the chief can take one down with 3 shots from the AR in the books it shows how weak they are. Im not trolling im stating my opinion.

You are incorrect. It takes 45 hits to kill a Sangheili minor with an MA5 series firearm in canon, while all a Sangheili has to do is land a head-shot with whatever plasma weapon they are holding to kill a marine or ODST. If anything it shows how badly the UNSC was beaten on even ground.

Lol hence why Humanity lost the war to the Covenant, only a treaty was made so technically humans did lose. I hate human weapons period I like Covenant weapons at least you get to shoot faster. Only human weapons that we like is the BR, Sniper and Rockets.

It was done in Reach, why not in 4?

Reach focused on mainly on NOBLE team, and the Spartan IIIs, and yet, Sangheili were still available. Balance issues were almost negated in Reach, the Sangheili would have increased height, increased speed, jump height, but the Spartans would have increased shield strength, health, etc. This is not a reason for their disappearance.

Canon reasons? Did we ask as to why there are monitors in forge? Grifball becoming a game-type? FOTUS’ description? Need I go on? From that, it would seem that forge and possibly custom games were not included in 343’s “multi-player canon”. And yet, still no sign of elites.

Also, I must point out the idea of this “flood” in War Games. If Infinity can allow Spartan IVs to emulate Flood to take part in a simulation, what is to stop them from emulating a Sangheili?

As for the game engine, if it was not possible for elites to be allowed into multi-player, would that not be a better way to tell us they were out? Instead of giving us false hope with a canon reason?

I, personally, would not mind if elites were simply not in matchmaking. I got used to this in Reach. But not being able to show myself as my elite when playing in custom games and forge is quite upsetting. I have done so since Halo 2. Most of your reasons can be simply boiled down to a lack of trying, or that 343 simply does not care enough about the Sangheili Community, which I can’t, or won’t, believe is true.

Ive played every halo (excluding wars) since halo 2 Ive loved elites alot of us enjoyed the arbiter missions something new and from halo 2/3 we had characters like thel’vadam shipmaster etc grow on us playing as the honorable race in multiplayer was so much fun and to be honest I never was interested in the idea of “super soldiers” Ive actually gained quite a hatred towards the UNSC please bring back our brothers!
