This was pretty much the big only mistake in my eyes 343i made… I want the Elites back for Halo 5
I’m not sure about the rest of you, But I’m certain I’m gonna be here campaigning for the Elites return in Halo 5+ And I hope you will all join me.
I don’t think I have ever seen a more passionate community come together over a single topic on Halo before. Keep it up people!

You can count on my support brother!

“it’s still alive after they we’re confirmed out”
That’s because once it hits the second page in general discussion, one of the regulars here makes a post that goes along the lines of ‘I really hope Elites are in Halo 5 and I will continue posting here until that day’.
There is one new person coming into this topic on such a rare occasion now.
Once again, don’t make up numbers & statistics, it really doesn’t help your cause, you may think you are a big part of the community, but you’re not.

Not a big part of the community? through all my years of playing Halo 2 and Halo 3 there would be at least one other elite other than me in the game. Out of my 70+ live friends about 60 some are elite players, and there is more! Just the other day, I played a game in big team on Halo 3 that the entire enemy team were all elites except for one guy who was a spartan. I still see people with their preferred species set to elite in Reach. Not to mention all the people with elite avatars both here and back at bungie.net, all of the elite fan art that has been made all of the fan fiction that has been written about elites, machinima, etc. While we may not be the largest community we sure are one of the most if not the most dedicated communities in Halo.

Just because somebody plays as an Elite, doesn’t mean they like them as much as most of you guys do, especially in Halo 3, most people use Elites for a ‘advantage’ when playing, because of the rumour that the hitbox is smaller, and the fact shots can travel through the neck, I’m not saying flat out that nobody plays as an Elite because they’re a huge follower, but there are a lot of people who simply use them for the one up.
As for your 60+ friends who are Elite players, there is no denying that, looking at your name, you have people added who follow them as a ‘cult’ in a way, I myself, have 50+ friends, not one of them is an Elite follower, along with a majority of people on my friends list, friends, that’s close to 200-500 people, and I’m not making that number up either, compared to me and my friends, the 60+ is tiny.
In referral to the fan fiction on the Sangeili, I know, I realise there is a lot of them, but it was the idea of Human vs Alien for most Machinima’s in Halo that sparks the large quantity of them, people enjoy human vs alien stories, myself included, once again, I’m not flat out saying people don’t make them for their love of Elites, but the people who prefer the human vs alien stuff, far outnumbers those who simply prefer elites.
Final note, you constantly say the Elite community is huge, when compared to the millions of copies the Halo games have sold, this topic only has 5,000 odd replies, if it was huge, then we’d be having a massive topic with over at least 20-30,000 posts from different individuals, not the same group of users over and over.
So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path

677 thanks on the op isn’t a lot? Hell, that’s more than the population of some of the playlists on Reach, yet 343 doesn’t remove them. There are a lot more elite fans than the ones on this site. Many of them don’t bother to post here on waypoint because of all of the hate. It wouldn’t have ruined Halo 4 for those Spartan fans if 343 would have had elites in multiplayer, it would have actually made the experience better.
So can you please just accept that not everyone is crazy for the Spartans and the UNSC? As I have said many times, I would have not got into Halo if it wasn’t for the elites. In Halo 2 I first played as a Spartan (I hadn’t even played campaign yet), but later learned that I could play as an elite. I changed my player model to an elite and it has stayed that way since. Playing and loving the Arbiter missions on Halo 2 really sealed the deal for me. I wouldn’t be on this site if it wasn’t for the elites. So, just please stop bringing this thread down when out goal is nothing but a positive one.
You like Elites. He likes Spartans. I like chocolate.
I suggest you two drop the subject or take it to pm’s. Let’s not turn this into a popularity contest between Spartans and Elites. This thread is already quite a bit like a petition which isn’t allowed on the forums, so contribute only if you have anything meaningful to add. Thank you

I agree, elites need to be in Halo 4.
okay, now let us see, we stated reasons why elites SHOULD be in multiplayer, now let us just TRY to find some why they shouldn’t, and see which one weighs more.
> okay, now let us see, we stated reasons why elites SHOULD be in multiplayer, now let us just TRY to find some why they shouldn’t, and see which one weighs more.
The only reason as to why they shouldn’t is due to hitboxes, or health system like reach were they regenerate fully.
They could simulate players as Elites due to the fact we can be flood, and even a monitor in forge.
Another reason not is due to Spartan Ops, with that being strict to playing as spartans.
That’s all I have.
> The only reason as to why they shouldn’t is due to hitboxes,
I have posted a complete rebuttal to this last page
> or health system like reach were they regenerate fully.
Everybody has regenerating health in halo 4 and 343 will most likely retain this for the rest of the trilogy
> They could simulate players as Elites due to the fact we can be flood, and even a monitor in forge.
Again we have already have brought this up several times with ways to fit into the almighty one line of story for halo 4’s “competitive”[1] MP
> Another reason not is due to Spartan Ops, with that being strict to playing as spartans.
You can’t play as an elites in reach’ campaign or firefight (outside of customs since versus never came to fruition) we still liked it fine or didn’t like it based on the experience, not that we couldn’t play as Sangheili.
> That’s all I have.
Unfortunately neither can anyone else so the debate that was supposed to occur with people who disagreed enough to post ended quickly around the 50th page and since then it has been just quoting earlier statements and reiterating points we have won many times in the thread. Thank you for your contribution
[1] I haven’t played the game so I cannot attest to whether the gameplay is or is not competitive in the arena sense.
I don’t see why the Elites need to be in the new trilogy. The Covenant is not the main enemy anymore. So I can see why they are not in matchmaking anymore.
> So it seems that Sangheili will indeed not be playable in Halo 4 Matchmaking due to a ‘canonical matchmaking experience’. I will refrain from stating my opinion on the idea of attempting to make Matchmaking canonical, but the opportunity to have Elites playable is still not forever erased. There is no doubt that this thread has been noticed by at least a few 343 Industries employees. It is the top thread in the Halo 4 Forum, and was mentioned in one of the Q&A Updates. Unfortunately, we have lost the first battle. Elites will not be playable in Multiplayer on the original Halo 4 shipping disc. However there is still time for 343 Industries to listen to their fans.
>
> It may be possible to include elite player models in future Downloadable Content, depending on the layout of the Halo 4 engine. If this is not possible, do not lose faith. If 343 Industries wants to be known as one of the few developers that listens to their fans, they will most certainly incorporate elites as playable characters in Halo 5 & 6. With this being the most popular thread on this forum and holding that title, it seems to be one favor that the fans are wishing to see fulfilled. I comprehend that 343 Industries wanted to make this “their Halo” and not “Bungie’s Halo”, and I respect that philosophy, but this does not mean that all core elements should be pushed to the wayside. This is one core element of Halo Matchmaking that should never be pushed to the wayside.

> This is a quote from Jamie Griesemer regarding the criticism that the Arbiter’s missions in Halo 2 received. So 343 Industries wisely took the information from the fans about this and created the “Spartan Identity” for Halo 4. Unfortunately the Sangheili population has grown much larger since Halo 2. My identity in Halo, and many others, is an elite. It is not going to be a pleasant experience having to change my identity for Halo 4, but if we stick it out, we may be rewarded.

> Without jumping to conclusions, I understand that Sangheili have neither been confirmed or denied for the Multiplayer of Halo 4, but I would like to present my explanation for why it is imperative Elites make a return, much more dignified than the limitations of Reach.
>
> It is no doubt the Elite community within Halo is small, but having been involved with it for 6 and half years now, I am astounded at it’s growth. As more Halo media like The Return, Halo: Cole Protocol, and Halo: Glasslands makes it’s way to the gamer, the more compelled the gamer is to prefer playing as an Elite over a Spartan. Especially when the media makes reference to things found on a game level, such as Thel 'Vadam or the Revenant. Although that sounds like a very basic and broad way to explain this, after speaking with the populous of newly converted “Elite players”, this is the general reason I get for this exponential growth. To make this point, I ask you to look around, and in nearly every thread you will see at least one or two users with Elite or Covenant avatars.
>
> 343i, I would like you to recognize that we are here collectively, and we deserve the respect and catered opinions just as much as the Spartan fanbase. Although extreme, I know players who actually will not buy Halo 4 if they are not available in Matchmaking, and I cannot say I blame them. What would Halo be without Covenant Weapons/Vehicles as well? Energy Swords, Needlers, and Wraiths are all iconic symbols of what makes Halo, Halo.
>
> The limitations of playing as an Elite in Halo Reach are indeed disheartening. Going back to the Halo 3 method of playing as an elite during regular Matchmaking can be the solution. Not only does that add to the customization, but it can also be explained canonically. I understand that 343i is in the process of delivering a canonical explanation for the Red and Blue Spartans fighting each other. The relationship between Humans and Sangheili can be used to add Elites into this mix. Since the UNSC and the Sangheili are allied, having them use human weapons is anything but non-canon. Or if you would like to take the reverse side of the coin, ONI is supplying the Servants of Abiding Truth with weaponry, which is human as well. This can easily be weaved into the plot without creating a mess.

We’re here, we shouldn’t be neglected, and if we are, I can assure you that 343i will lose a great deal of supporters.

i think they aren’t in multiplayer because if they were that would imply they are on the unsc infinity practicing in the simulation with the spartans and would cause canonical mess ups, but still i totally agree with you, though i am not a fan of playing as the sangheili they were always fun and interesting and without them it feels emptier, its just spartans and flood running around now…theres an elite shaped hole in my heart…
> I don’t see why the Elites need to be in the new trilogy. The Covenant is not the main enemy anymore. So I can see why they are not in matchmaking anymore.
first elites have only been fully playable when they were “allies” and second that is the same logic strand that says that spartan armour in multiplayer customisation and that all campaign easter eggs must be entirely canon.
Going back to around the first 20-ish pages of this thread the majority of the organised Sangheili players/fans agreed that we didn’t want elites in campaign. We just wanted some form of support for Sangheili in multiplayer. While yes that cry was most resounding as a return to the halo 3 style of gameplay with either reach or halo 3 model types we just wanted to be recognised as a legitimate community and given support into the next generation of halo. And if you respond by saying that we should change our opinions to suit a company then I will respond by telling you to live in a country without capitalism - since it is what the system in based on people think, companies adapt and sell to that idea.
Today I bought Halo 2 from amazon and I noticed something. Under the product features it said “Take the action online with your Xbox Live and switch sides, to become a Covenant Elite!” Playable elites is something that attracted new players. I have even noticed that many of the elite players i come accross are lower levels. Being able to play as Sangheili separates halo from the rest of the crowd. It makes the game uniqe and people want to try it out. The flood adds a little diversity but not like the elites in H2 and H3. It was a choice wether you wanted to be an elite or a spartan and you were never forced to play one or the other. I hope this will return to halo someday, but until then we just have to keep telling 343 what we want.
BRING ELITES BACK 343!!!
You know, I’m kind of glad Elites aren’t playable right now. All of their armor is hideous, let alone them.
Do it with style, or don’t bother doing it.
