Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

I personally am not a fan of Elites, however the fact remains they are a huge part of this myth.
Frankly, to this day I believe Halo 2 was the best Halo game, story wise, and it is because of the Arbiter and delving into what the Covenant was.
I think Elites still have a place, perhaps a specific game type like Invasion (not exactly since Invasion isn’t that great), but something that allows Spartans and Elites, and just doesn’t force you to be on or the other.

I mean Elites are an entire species that has hardly been touched by either Bungie or 343 as far as what you can explore and develop. Hopefully, 343 can come up with something.

> And just asking, where is your proof the Rangers are, without a doubt, the pilots?

Proof is space flight if you actually think about it when you fly a Banshee or Seraph in space. When you look at the UNSC in the Sabres all you see is them wearing helmets. I’m sure Elites in the Banshee and Seraphs are indeed Rangers that can handle space environments unlike the other rank Elites whom can’t handle it only on the surface of a planet they can. We have blown the vehicles up with the Sabres but no bodies for reason unknown but common in Reach. If you sit and think about the Rangers are the only ones besides the Ultra Unggoy that can handle space environments. In a vehicle or out doing infantry. Just imagine if you put a Minor or Major inside the Space Banshee or Seraph, they will die while piloting the vehicles in space. Their helmets are not equipped with that for them to handle the force while piloting the vehicles.

Plus in all ranks besides Zealot, General and Field Marshall whom do not pilot any vehicles at all, they can pilot any vehicle on the ground or air. But in space the Rangers are the ones that can handle space environments that’s what the armor is built for.

I’m not even going to bother arguing, because you obviously aren’t understanding my point and are just repeating the same thing over and over again.

I agree. I hope to see the elites delved into once more when the series continues. Evidently halo 4 will not be one such game (but it would be interesting to do an ODST style spinoff for elites as a Halo 4: ODST style thing).

I can only hope for the moment that they return in future games.

Ahem, if I may?

Rangers are deployed in combat situations that take place in space and in high altitude locations, mostly boarding operations, where as pilots are deployed to fly atmospheric and spacial craft.

Both of them need air tight suits, zero g training, and some knowledge of the other’s field (Rangers need to know how to fly a banshee in emergencies, and pilots need to know how to fly in space with just a jet pack should they need to eject).

This make more sense?

I wish more people had ideas like you… thank you. I specifically wish something like this actually came true

I’ve been watching this topic hoping that an Official 343i employee would respond, so far that hasn’t been the case.

The Sangheilli are originally what sparked my interest in Halo, because…
Like dude…
I can play as one of the coolest looking aliens of all time, That and the backstory provided with them, they have such a great history, without them in matchmaking, it just Futuristic COD and Halo is not COD last time i checked.

343I Please, Don’t let us down.

Agreed for the most part, maybe in halo 5 they will have elites and include elite only specializations too hehehe, I hope one is a Zealot spec.

Tell me this, what do you want them to say to you?

Elites don’t fit in the storyline of multiplayer, so they aren’t playable, your career focuses on your Spartan IV, not an Elite.

Yeah, but it’s still pretty damn disappointing.

Can’t wait for halo 5, maybe then they’ll have elites back in multiplayer. (And again, think of the glorious Sangheili specializations!)

Multiplayer was never supposed to be canonical. I don’t really see why they made it canonical anyway. And people have provided plenty of reasons as to how they could fit in without causing problems. Elites added tons of variety, and now they’re gone.

And don’t give the -Yoink- of “They ruined the game”, because you could get a headshot on an Elite from behind. In Halo 3; if a spartan looked down, you could NOT get a headshot on them from behind, but you could still get a headshot on an Elite if they ducked their head…so being a spartan misplaced the gameplay more than an Elite ever did.

They made it canonical for those who love the story, which let me tell you, a heck of a lot more did compared to those who played as Elites.

As for this Spartans looking down at the floor and not being able to be headshotted and Elites can, so much for both models having the same hitboxes that you all defended so heavily months ago.

> Tell me this, what do you want them to say to you?

I would like them to say:

We realize that many of our fans really like the elites but we are sorry to say elites will not be in halo 4 (for whatever reason). Though, after seeing how much support for playable elites is out there, we are currently getting them back in halo.

Or: Playable elites are not in our plan for the new trilogy and we don’t have any plans for them in the future.

I just want an answer. Hopefully they will return

BRING ELITES BACK 343.

P.S. A recent post got edited by a moderator so at least we know they’re seeing this.

So you want them to tell you details on the next Halo game?

Not going to happen.

Also, moderators aren’t 343i employees, they are community members just like you and me.

Moa, most of the posts going on here are simply asking for a response about Elites. They would like to know if they will be playable and enjoyable.

As for my stance on them, I’m ok if 343 can fix the issues with them.

I’d like it if they returned in future Halo games. There not in Halo 4’s multiplayer due to canon reasons, fair enough. It’s a human ship. Your not going to find any elites there.

In future installments though it would be nice to see them in multiplayer again, as long as the hit boxes were sorted out and each had the same stats (health and shields) as spartans like in Halo 2-3.

Halo Reach: Spatans had more health, limited regenration, slower and smaller than elites, and could pick up health packs.
Elites had less health, were taller and faster than spartans, regenerated fully and could not pick up health packs.

In the end I just think it would be a shame if they were just cast aside, that’s all.

P.S. Not sure if I’m correct with the same stats thing in Halo 2-3, but from what I’ve played the elite’s health and shield bar seemed to be equal to the spartans, unless lag has been affecting my gameplay.

While do say that canon was not a bad thing for multiplayer, and I do enjoy that 343 is doing this for the people who like canon, I just hate how they are setting the canon in spartan training without sangheili liasons in there aswell.
I mean I wouldn’t have a problem with it other then the fact that they are removing elites when they could keep them on in various other ways, like Elite Ops, or having a Sangheili version of the infinity, or even having the multiplayer take place during the battles between the UNSC, Sangheili, and The Storm.

Eh, I think its pointless at this time to argue over halo 4, they’re not going to be put in unless there is over whelming support for some DLC they couldn’t care less about that kinda puts elites in multiplayer.

But now, I think its time to start brain storming over how they could be put into halo 5.

Multiplayer aspects of a game NEVER have a story?
Why does it have to be canon?
Like, they’re going to make Halo Multiplayer canon to singleplayer at the cost of a portion of the fanbase?

Also, Moa, Why are you so ready to shoot down our hopes of Elites in future Halos?
I want to know.

No precedence for Sangheili in MP? Are you serious? It’s a holographic simulation where Spartans fight in teams that means that the infinity will have it’s own purpose trained OpFor. Yup in todays world they are the american/British army guys that wield AK’s, and wear the traditional middle-eastern/russian dress (depending on which one they are fighting as of course) and you are telling me that with holographic technology (which I’d like to point out is much easier to simulate a interactive being with then create and maintain an interactive environment.) they can’t just dub an elite model over a spartan to add for realism? Even if it was just in the bloody menus where people could change their lobby personality to an elite with the excuse of oh I am an opposing force operator so it doesn’t break the almighty one line of story “It’s a simulation to train SIV’s set aboard the infinity”. You don’t even have the excuse of hit boxes due to the Elite models being less folded giving the illusion of different hit boxes sizes and SIV are now only 5 inches smaller than the Halo 4 elite models (who are 7’5) which is less then the length of the magnum in game. Halo 4 could have been the game where elites could have modifiers like reach and have a similar height ratio to halo 3 which was 1:1 with no down side to balance due to the “perk” abilities you have access to in the game. I can count a few that are more game changing than the elite models have ever been.
