Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> Personaley I like the Elites and Promethheans, and spartans. I know the Elites will return for Halo 5, and I fell in love with the promethean Knights when I saw them. it would be cool if they made Elites playable again, Hey how about makeing all 3 playable.
>
>
> Edit: =YOINK!!!= double post

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Promethean Knights as a playable race, but most definitely not if it means no Elites.

I have to lol whenever someone says Elites were harder to headshot from behind. I played against high level players alot in Halo 3, and none of them minded me playing as an Elite, why? Because whenever they ran away they just strongsided (looked at the ground) in order to make it literally 100% impossible to headshot them from behind. The difference between being an Elite and Strongsiding is that headshotting an Elite from behind is POSSIBLE. And actually pretty EASY with practice. And a strongsiding Elite doesn’t get the same 100% impossible headshot as a Spartan, as their head sticks out and the arm’s don’t protect it.

Seriously. It’s a fail. I headshot other Elites from behind no problem in Halo 3. Sometimes I found it easier, because unlike the Elite, the Spartan’s back and shoulder guards PROTECTED the head. Where on the Elite bullets went right through. (Spartans with their backs facing you only gave you about 1/4 of the head to shoot at. Serious.

Ive heard from someone that halo 4-5and6 will not include elites… could somebody please tell me this isnt true…

> Ive heard from someone that halo 4-5and6 will not include elites… could somebody please tell me this isnt true…

This is not true at all in any way. Frankie said in a interview that they have no idea what to plan for after Halo 4. They are going to see how Halo 4 plays out to figure what to do next rather then assuming what will happen and making bad decisions. So for someone to say Elites won’t be in the new trilogy at all would completely go against what Frankie said they were doing. So whoever said that was lying or was lied too.

Ok, so if elites were never in Halo, Red vs Blue and one playlist in the worst game in the history of Halo would be slightly different?

I’d give that up for more time spent making stuff that actually matters. Maybe if Bungie hadn’t put elites in Reach they would have fixed some of the maps.

There are a lot of other machinimas, like arby n the cheif that rely on elites. Those machinimas may have to stay in reach so they can still use elites.

Reach is actually my favorite halo game and invasion my favorite playlist, probably because i get almost a sure chance to play as an elite. I think Bungie was trying to make elites feel different in reach but i don’t like how they are seperated and can’t play in many playlists.

I think it would be cool if the elite and spartan model had different pros and cons but were still playable in all playlists. For example, elites have bigger hitboxes but are ever so slightly faster.

I think 343 has seen the support the elites are getting but just couldn’t fit them into H4. I believe they will put them in H5 if they have to modify the story a little. The community wants elites back and i think 343 will satisfy us.

First, that is your opinion and if you think your opinion has any precedence over what and what shouldn’t be in Halo, you are sadly mistaken. The developers will listen to the fans, but it is ultimately their decision of what goes in the game.

Second, the Invasion playlist is one of the most popular ones and had a lot of potential to better and more popular then BTB. This isn’t a small playlist we are talking about, this is a major playlist that could have been so much better if it only had better maps.

So, could I ask how making Invasion Spartan vs Spartan will ruin it? All it will do is make the game easier to balance as you don’t have to have all covenant weapons on one team and all human on the other, and you don’t have to balance for elites being faster and stronger.

ALSO Pretty much everyone agrees that Reach was terrible and a HUGE letdown compared to what it could have been. I would like to know what you like about Reach.

ALSO, could someone please explain the draw to playing as elites anyway? I truly do not understand. It changes gameplay in two ways. A different HUD/hands, and the player model, which could be detrimental to gameplay. (See Halo 3) I just want to know why you would want something in the game that either doesnt change or changes for the worse the way the game plays.

Its unique, it has a great Forge, I like how you can customize your Spartan’s armor better then Halo 3’s. The ranking system has more benefits to it.

Now let me ask you armor. Have you changed your Spartan’s armor? If you have, you have just have just cared about the way your character looks, like how we care about the way we look, which is as Elites. So, unless you have the same Mark VI armor for Halo 3 equipped and the same Mark V [B variant] equipped for Reach. You have no right to lecture us on that.

Edit: I just checked your service record. You are a Mythic and you have changed your Spartan’s armor significantly compared to the default armor. If Reach was so bad, why did you play it so much? Halo 3 is still available! Why did you change your armor? Its purely cosmetic and affects gameplay in no way. Playing as an Elite doesn’t affect the gameplay in anyway, its purely cosmetic. I rest my case.

I fail to see how playing as an Elite makes any difference from playing as a Spartan. The hud works the same way, you still move and straff about as a Spartan, plus you die the exact same way as a Spartan also. Playing as a elite for some people like myself is rather more amusing than playing as a everyday human anyways which to my opinion is rather boring…

Yup, I’ve changed my armor. I’ll give you that. However, I’ve only done it because it was available. If I had my way we wouldn’t be able to change armor, and only be able to change primary colors. Why? Because it doesn’t matter to gameplay. The only time you even see your colors is in the lobby or FFA games. All adding armor customization did to gameplay was take development time away from fixing problems with Armor abilities and maps.

And I played lots more H3 than Reach, just spread out over 3 accounts. Reach is a terrible game. The forge, while it had more features, sucks too by the way. Everything is grey and if you have too many objects on the map you get framerate drops (See asylum). Also Forge World was a massive fail. Only ever useful for BTB maps, which in turn would have too many objects and lag.

And tell me how a ranking system that lets anyone progress solely on time spent playing is a better system than one based (albeit in Halo 3 loosely) on skill level?

@kaine: The hitboxes on Halo 3’s elites did not match up to the model which made it weird to shot them in the head. Sometimes if you shot them in the jaw it would count as a body shot, and if you shot them in the upper back or above their head, it would be a headshot.

You do understand a different team would have been working on Armour customisation, they don’t have everyone work on one thing then as soon as that is done, they switch to the other.

If Armour customisation wasn’t in, Armour Lock would still be as it is in Vanilla, Sprint would be the same, same for Jetpack and Camo.

^elaborate. If we couldn’t change our armor the TU would have never come out? What?

I’m talking mostly about bug testing/programming. If the testers were never given the task of finding bugs in elites/ armor, then programmers would never have to debug them, which could have let them fix issues in with the framedrops in object heavy forge maps, for example. More crap in the game means more crap to do, which means less time focusing on stuff that matters.

Oh I see what you mean with that comment now. Again, i’m saying that if they spent less or no time on debugging/making/balancing elites, they could have spent more time fixing/balancing AA’s and maps.

> Yup, I’ve changed my armor. I’ll give you that. However, I’ve only done it because it was available. If I had my way we wouldn’t be able to change armor, and only be able to change primary colors. True Armor customization was added in Halo 2 with the ability to play as an Elite or Spartan. Each Halo has expanded upon this. I have my preferences which is to play a Elite because I find them, their story, their sense of pride as a warrior, and their armor to interesting. I play as an Elite because it is there too.

Yes, Reach Forge is dull, but it improved what Halo 3 started and will continue to improve.Reach Forge has created even more crazy gametypes and maps then what Halo 3 allowed. It has done its fair share to the community to be considered a beneficial
part of Reach.

> And tell me how a ranking system that lets anyone progress solely on time spent playing is a better system than one based (albeit in Halo 3 loosely) on skill level?

Did I ever say it was better? I said it was unique and offered more rewards to those who ranked up. Each system has its flaws. Halo 3 was far from perfect too. (Derankers mainly)

thank you…
anyway… So hopes still high for halo 5 right? great. Oh and do you guys think there is any possibility they will include them for halo 4 as a download?
P.S.
WOW, I FOUND THIS ON THE TENTH PAGE, GUYS PLEASE KEEP THIS ALIVE

THE Three idea… the knight, the elite, and the spartan
the only prob there will be balancing them… but still i think that would be epic.
P.S. anyone notice the knight being available as an avatar… could this hint to something?

I hate rumors from noobs who make -Yoink- up like that about the Elites.

I for one would hate to see the Elites go. Where would the Spartans be without the Elites? You have my support. Spartans and Elites are two sides of the same coin, putting Prometheans on the other side… Well, it won’t stop me from buying the game but without my Elite adversaries, my Halo ring will have a huge, Elite shaped hole in it.

Best of luck,

DesertFox899

I’m pretty sure it is just for Forum usage and such, nothing really special to think it would effect anything.
