Unless we get something saying “No elites in halo 4 EVER.” or something along the lines, i can garantee this thread will continue. Not only that, but this thread is, at the moment, the only place where much of the elite community on waypoint has gotten toghether.

This game gave us something different to do, something else to be. Thats what attracted a good amount of people to the game, because it was different. Why go back now?

> >
> > I can’t say they will be disapointed if they miss one map pack. If I recall, there are nine map packs planned out. I am more than certian an elite texture and hitbox would be much easier to craft than an entire map pack, and it would please a lot of people.
> >
> > I’ll give you that moa, but the thing about putting playable brutes in reach is that brutes have never been playable, so they have nothing really to recycle, no first person veiw to use. That isnt the case with elites, they have three games of first person to use. Look at ODST, an entire game created in three months that featured first person ODSTs which has never happened before. If that game was created in three months while they also worked on reach, I doubt it would be overly difficult to recyle an old skin for halo 4 while they have nothing on the go.

> > Well sure, I wont get my hopes up. After reach as a game I have learned not to get my hopes up. That doesnt mean I shouldnt at least try. Becuase if I don’t try I am sure to fail, but if I try at least there is a shot at success. Certainly, all previous games have gotten map packs, but why not a change in pace. It sounds strange, and new, but wasnt halo all about that before?

> Where did Bungie say ODST was made in three months, regardless, that is different than releasing DLC, they had a lot more control over ODST because it was on a completely new disk and not a part of the Halo 3 package at all, meaning a new HUD display was easily made because it didn’t require them to make it work with Halo 3.
>
> Also, you make it sound like recycling past models & other content is easy, trust me, it isn’t, you can’t simply just copy & paste something from an older game and change a few things up and bam it works, take Lockout for example, Bungie came out and said even though Halo 3 used a modified Halo 2 engine, simply copying the map to the newer game wouldn’t work, it required a lot of changes to make it work with the new game because of the engine modifications, they can’t simply recycle it from Campaign, slip it into Multiplayer and make it work or just take the Reach model and slip it into Multiplayer, it doesn’t work like that, Halo’s engine has never allowed that due to the way it was built.
I think I may have accidentaly started another discussion…
Very true on the portion about odst being a new disc. Now, I don’t know for certain what the time frame for the game was, but I do know it wasnt a very long time frame as it was just a lee-way while they built reach. Now, I agree on the part about ODST, I’m simply saying the first and third person veiw probably wouldn’t be as hard as people think. Considering the small amount of time they would have had to make the game (Between 2007 and 2009 I suppose) I doubt they would have taken very long to code the ODSTs so they could fit the rest of the game in, including the firefight.
Now, I know what you’re getting at with the engines, but those are past engines. I’m merely stating it would likely be EASIER than creating a new elite entirely from scratch.
Those are merely my thoughts, I don’t have any sort of training in that feild, just a bit of knowledge put toghether about items like that.
