How come several months back, I think Frankie said something like elite players wouldn’t be disappointed in terms of multiplayer.
Then how come later on they said elites are now not playable?

He said something like that, but I remember the way that he worded it meant the general population won’t be disappointed, not specifically elite players. It was a sneaky way to avoid a serious question.
> Invasion will stay and Elites are gone, promethean knights anyone??
If they allow Promethean Knights to be playable and not Elites, I’ll lose all respect. The main complaint for the Elites was their size and their strange hitboxes. Promethean Knights are nearly double the size of an elite, as well as an even more protective hitbox.
Seriously, just standing the elites upright like they did in Reach fixes everything. The only reason the elites in Reach were so much bigger compared to the spartan is because in Halo Reach, the Spartans were SPARTAN IIIs. The SPARTAN IIs are the same size as an elite. And considering these SPARTAN IVs are supposed to have the best augmentations of all, It’s guaranteed they will be the same size as an elite. If Invasion is in there is absolutely no reason for elites to be left to the wayside. What a horrible way to ruin a tradition that has been ongoing since Halo 2.

Agreed. With the guy above me… Its a good point but invalid because it will Never happen… That’s like taking the marines, and the “Call” out of Call of Duty… it would never happen
I keep coming back to this thread. Hopes and dreams, nothing more.
There’s no Invasion, there’s no Elites in MP, there will be no DLC, they won’t take the Spartan’s out of Halo (that’s my favourite one, it lacks any kind of sense).

Of course Spartans won’t be taken out, but that’s not the point. You people keep telling us that no Elites is no big deal, but 90% of you would riot if Spartans were suddenly unplayable. Same deal.
If all you can respond to this is an unintelligent “Spartans won’t be taken out shut up and move on” then I have nothing more to say to you. Intelligent conversation is impossible if you refuse to argue the point and fall back on the improbability of a hypothetical scenario, used entirely as an example, of occurring. Good day.
For Sanghelios!

Halo is not a single game. The franchise has not survived this long without the innovation playable elites brought to the franchise and in truth, the way things are shaping right now, you could VERY well see a covenant only spin-off game. Similarly like ODST. Never forget, we don’t know the future of where 343 is going to take this franchise and as Frankie briefly commented on in an interview, they are not focused on the future until this present is done, i.e. Halo 4. Who knows what possibilities are on the horizon, but as Moa already stated, Spartans will NEVER be out of a Halo game. It started with the UNSC and the franchise, if ever, will end with the UNSC most likely.

Do you know what they did?
They either made the Elites even taller, or made the S-IVs barely above the average Human height. There is a picture floating about where a S-IV is almost standing next to an Elite, and the S-IV is barely above the Elite’s waist. Besides making the S-IVs look hilariously puny (Almost to the point where calling them Spartans, the name given to MC and his ilk, is a joke) but it seems to continue 343i’s design mantra of change for the sake of change, with no thought put towards consistency (Does the Elite’s height really need to be retconned again? The Visual Guide gave us the best figures yet, and they had to go and change it again…), practicality or prioritization. (Ruling out an entire gameplay feature over something as trivial as fictional in-universe height numbers…)
On its own I don’t really care about not being able to use Elites in Halo 4, but this does add to the list of things that 343i has done that I find to be extremely unappealing.

Wait… so the SPARTAN IVs:
-Are not trained from a young age
-Do not wear a fully functional version of MJOLNIR, but rather a lightweight version
-Apparently are provided weak augmentations if their bone & muscle mass do not need to be increased beyond normal framework
Why even call them Spartans at this point?
> Why even call them Spartans at this point?
Because most people who play Halo love sucking Spartan -Yoinks!-, including Bungie and 343.
And it would be a gigantic middle finger to us if Promethean Knights make it into matchmaking and not us.
all hope… is lost… this is dissapointing… sooo who is up for halo 5

Hopes, dreams, and a strong community behind it. First of all, you ignored completely that we were giving a fake scenario of Spartans being removed, not saying that it would happen. By ignoring a large chunk of that conversation, you have already lost all rights to talk. Next, how do you know they tossed Invasion?! They have really only showed Slayer rounds on the same maps, and you know what will be in the game? No! Third, we accept their exclusion from MP, but we will still keep this thread alive, because it is a haven for the Elite fans on waypoint. Fourth, YOU KNOW NOTHING of 343’s plans for the game after its been released because they don’t even know! So you are wrong, yet again. And let me end it with this, if all you are going to do is in insult this thread, then don’t bother coming here if thats all you are going to do because you make yourself look like an idiot.

It looks slightly worse than I remember.
I’m not entirely surprised by this though. 343i have been pretty cavalier with the concept of the Spartan ever since they took over, treating them like redshirts in Halo Legends and emotionally compromised kids in pretty much everything else rather than the kids who’s IQ and maturity at age 14 was probably higher than most of the Human race. Now, they don’t even look like the imposing and feared/respected warriors that their name suggests from ancient history. That Elite could probably bat him aside like an insect with the back of his hand given his relatively small mass and short arm length. Marines on rumble drugs is probably what they are. Calling them Spartans cheapens the whole entire concept, especially when they are so puny looking.
All hope is not lost. I have come up with some reasons why Elites have a good chance of being in Halo 5, and perhaps other species as well.
Multiplayer, ultimately, is an extension of the Campaign, especially with 343i. In the Halo 4 campaign, we fight Promethean Knights and other drones set to guard Requiem, along with the new threat. The only time we will probably see Elites is in Spartan Ops, since we don’t leave Requiem. Presumably, we will not be in Requiem for Halo 5, opening up the possibility of Elites in the Campaign, greatly increasing our chances of getting Elites in Halo 5 Machmaking (or, War Games).
As they’ve said, the Multiplayer revolves around the Spartan IVs, since it is a training ground for said Spartans. In Halo 5, and this is a bit uncertain, we will be able to open up more opportunities for Elites to be in Multiplayer canonically.
The alliance between Humans and the Sangheili will probably be explained further in Halo 5, making more Arbiter missions or something like that more likely. Meaning, of course, Elites will be playable.
I’ll think of more later. Have faith, my brothers; we will not be forgotten.
For Sanghelios!
Which you belive is the real reason behind the absence of the elites?

Canonically, I see the Spartan IV project as about the same as the Spartan III project, but with adults; i.e. they’re not nearly at the Spartan IIs level, but with certain groups that are about as good, like Noble Team was.
On the other hand, I DETEST, LOATH, and HATE Glasslands for how much it screwed around with Halo’s canon (the Spartan’s treatment being the LEAST of my grievances). If there’s one thing I could possibly rage about, it’s that 343 needs to retcon the CRAP out of it.
There’s stuff wrong with that picture, though. The Spartan next to the Elite is shorter than that blue one that is farther away. Compare that one it with this size comparison from Reach. I think the white one is crouching or something, 'cuz he looks oddly short. And here’s a Chief-Elite comparison. Looks about righ to me.
If Promethean Knights are playable… I dunno. I could probably get into it, but I’m still hoping for Elites.
The Prometheans are probably the best looking things in the game.
