Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

I agree we should be able to use our elite character whenever we want.

I wish we had some sort of reaction from a 343i employee as to whether this is either in the works, possible, or not happening.

The Elites have been in halo since the very beginning, the first time you fought them in halo ce was an unforgettable experience “An opponent with shields like yours” they’ve been as Establishment and glorified in the fiction as Spartans have, their community deserves to be heard and they deserve a proper and fair response.

Yeah, they should still get the multiplayer attention they got in H3, plus a full armory. It’s not like they’re lacking armor desings.

Halo reach elites are a total mess. Like the halo 3 multilayer was so nice. With both box character. It be really nice for it to come back correctly. Bungie does like the elite community. 343 I have a feeling you will have a special warm spot in your hearts for us elite players.

> > > I’m looking forward to the customization options, not just for Sangheili (If they’re in MM at all), but for Spartans as well.
> >
> > The one thing that I am happy that reach did with elites was make sure that their armor is fully in canonical uniform. I feel like sangheili pieces should not be customizable. You get the full suit of armor, that’s it.
>
> Customization may fit with the changes that happen post Halo 3 though. How many sets of new armour do they have left to go around, and what happens when peices get damaged? Can they keep up with supply? The whole technology issue could have a visual effect on them. It might help to make people who have not read the books understand their situation post Halo 3 to have them go from shiny armour to patchy and slightly worn suits. Not Brute style armour plates, but a bit more rough and mismatched than usual.
>
> Or if not that, then it might reflect how they are becoming more pragmatic towards warfare. Designing armour that is efficient and practical rather than flamboyant and showey. For instance, tired of Snaky Jones constantly sniping your bright gold Field Masters, or the bits and peices that stick out all over the place catching on your environment, and being used as grapple points?

You know, that is a genuinely interesting sentiment, and it makes sense too.

I would be against the addition of Brutes because I don’t like them, but that’s just me.

If Halo 4 doesn’t have Elites as playable characters in MM 343 would probably lose a lot of credibility. One of the awesome things about Halo 2 was that, for the first time, you could be an alien. This power of choice made Halo 2 a classic. I wasn’t around for Halo 2, but I know that not many people in Halo 3 play as Elites, simply because of the lack of a lot of armor customization options. Personally, I think that this is a good thing. If you play as an Elite, then you do not have to worry about having Recon or the Katana. In Halo Reach you have control of every little thing about your armor if you’re a Spartan, but if you’re an Elite, your options have been further downgraded.

I kind of went off on a slightly irrelevant tangent there, but my point remains: Halo 4 should have Elites. I’ve been an Elite for as long as I remember; I have seen entire societies based off of the Covenant society in Elite clans and such. (I was invited to one once, but I didn’t have a mic, one of their requirements, so I had to decline =/)

Elites are a major part of Halo. If 343 takes them away, an important part of the Halo community will have departed. Please, 343, let us keep the dinos.

Agreed!

At first I thought it unlikely after seeing the First Look trailer, but then I realized adding the story of why blue and red are fighting could be explained with Elites too. Elites could simply be taking side in this conflict, which is likely to be some form of civil war/rebellion (Spartan IV training is pretty lame). Now that ELites and UNSC are on the same side, this would make sense I think.

-Yoink- yeah I love 1337S!!!111

> Is this halo 3? No. Did we say we wanted an elite only game type? No. We openly said that reach was an insult to the elite community specifcally because the only game types where elites were featured were the elite slayer (which was rarely chosen) and invasion.
>
> Seing as how you were in the top 100, i thought you might have some sense. I was proven wrong when you said spartan combat only. Do you not think 343 is competent enough to find a good balance?

I find some of the suggestions that are made in this thread to be anachronisms. Elites are proportionately different from a Spartan in the campaign but you want their model to be morphed down in size? Doesn’t work for me.

I have a 7.98 k/d ratio on the Needle Rifle in competitive MM in Reach. I like the Covenant weapons, not the player models. Balance needs to be maintained and in all of my MM experience across >15,000 matches I haven’t seen it with Elite v Spartan.

Stick around then and help us figure it out. How could it be made to work?

That’s my issue - for the sake of balance I’m not sure how given my MM experiences in H3 and Reach that it could. Elite v Elite is fair, Elite v Spartan I consider is not due to hitbox issues identified within H3 and different health and size mechanics in Reach. I would prefer to maintain MM as a Spartan v Spartan affair for these reason.

I think there’s bigger issues in Halo 4 to be addressed than this. Eg why does Reach have so many maps with Rockets and so few with the Spartan Laser? The Laser takes far more skill and Rockets are just way too cheap.

I love the elites, I want them to make an appearance in Halo 4’s multiplayer, but I would also like to see the Spartan IVs, and perhaps this ‘new enemy’ they have been hinting towards.

Still with the swat hit box crap. Really, we don’t care for swat. Elites are actually at a disadvantage. You care about balance way to much. If everything is balanced nothing stands out. Playing as an elite does not give the player any real advantages. Even in Reach.

> Playing as an elite does not give the player any real advantages. Even in Reach.

I disagree - regenerating Health and evade are massive advantages that Elites have in Reach over Spartans. Run some customs - see who wins. Won’t be the Spartans.

And Halo MM is balance - your core beliefs are at odds with my understanding of what Halo MM is if you remove balance.

When everything is in balance then skill is the discriminator and that my friend is all I care about.

> Still with the swat hit box crap.

Headshots affect every playlist and not just SWAT

I doubt that the Sangheili are going to be completely phased out of the game. Now that they made friends with humans, it is very logical to suggest that they will both make an appearance in this game. Halo was nearly based on how when humans were faced with a common enemy, so all humans had to band together to face the threat, so naturally history would repeat itself as it so often does in real-life and Humans and Sangheili will band together to face this new threat (not to mention the threat of the Flood). Master Chief may be years out of range for any Human vessel, Covenant ships are far more advanced when it comes to space-faring travel and can travel much faster than Human ships, faster still if Elites and Humans found a cache of Forerunner tech with a spaceship inside. “They’ve always been faster…”

lol, you must have never played a real competitive game with Spartans and elites. Guess what, just because you were an elite it wouldn’t guarantee that you would win.
**** skill, I play Halo because I enjoy it. It’s people like you who ruin it for me.

You just don’t seem to get that the player model will not change the outcome of a match.

Also, game that was 100% balanced would get old pretty fast. Also, factors of balance of elites ans spartans don’t apply to Halo 4 as it is a different game. I’m sure that 343 could figure out how to balance elites and spartans.

to my fellow elites:

DO NOT LET THIS TOPIC GET BURIED!! WE NEED 343 TO SEE THAT WE WANT OUR ELITES BACK!!!
also it would be nice if they had complete equality to spartans… in armoury, health, stats and size

So come together comrades,
we have a long battle to fight,
we have to send out a message to 343
a message likely not to be heard,
without a big enough impact on the community
we can change the course of Halo 4
and possibly the next two games…
but we need to make ourselves heard!
push, bump, whatever…
just get the message through
this is your duty as a part of the community who likes to play as elites
and we will see it done!

We must:

  • create polls
  • ask if elites are in the game on the bulliten
  • create some elite fan art SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR THEM!
  • think of how they could include elites and still make them equal to spartans, in every way.

cheers
