> Well, seeing as Firefight was nerfed and Spartan Ops has been revealed to be a Spartans-only show, there aren’t many places to stick the Elites. So cooperative has been ruled out. Normally, that would leave Forge and Custom Games, but those are both competitive gametypes (albeit offline ones). So the answer is, 343i has probably left the Elites out of Halo 4 altogether.

> Another reason for me not to buy.
Elites are present in the campaign for one, we’ll be combating them in the first mission. As for forge, custom games, etc., your asking the wrong people. I posted a question for the Halo Bulletin seeking information about this (post Halo 4 mind you). rather then complain, I suggest you approach this in a more positive light. Forge and Customs have not been discussed… at all… its very possible the game developers are including them elsewhere.
> Blinks Forge is competitive… I really need to change my standards of competitiveness then…
JotunCorp means forgers take competitiveness to a new level in designing and creating maps. whether through modifications, glitches, or building from scratch. It is a competition to see who can out best other forgers.
> I issue a forge battle? 1v1? Nope, still doesnt sound right…
Your thinking in terms of MLG. This is not the correct way of thinking. See above.
> Custom games isnt exactly competitive
Depends on the custom game and who’s playing in it.
> i mean, i dont know about you, but jenga tower seems pretty casual to me…

Jenga Tower is not an example of a competitive game type. I do agree some people live to win all custom games, including FFA, objective, blah blah blah, but in the long term, it really comes down to a personal choice to try and be competitive in something or not.
EDIT: to get this back on track: what possible reasons should the elites be onboard the Infinity? What purpose do they serve in a Spartan simulation Training course with peace established?

Can you try to think outside the box and try to think of all the advantages that the Spartans would gain if they were to train alongside with the Sangheili? Come on, Even Veterans of war have to train recruites on the best of their tactics to one another. Even if its different species having to be teaching each other new things.

The two races are at war. It’s not surprising that there are no Elites on the Infinity.

were was it confirmed they are at war? in GI? but those Elites are more than likely rouge. For all we know, there is a civil war among the Elites, and the “Anti Human-Sanghieli” side could also be at the same time at war with the Humans.
> were was it confirmed they are at war? in GI? but those Elites are more than likely rouge. For all we know, there is a civil war among the Elites,
Why are they most likely rogue? Why are you assuming there is a civil war on? All we know is that Elites attacked the Chief, but if you look at the bigger picture, Glasslands didn’t exactly say that Elites and Humans can co-exist. The two species have no common ground, and are steeped in each others blood. The war has become personal. Seems far more likely that the is full out war again.
No peace. Even their art direction, which makes them more fierce and unrelatable, implies their antagonistic role now.
> and the “Anti Human-Sanghieli” side could also be at the same time at war with the Humans.
There are no sides. Pretty much all Elites are anti-Human in some fashion. The only lines are the ones defined by opinions on how to handle Sanghelios’ short term future, and whether wiping out Humanity now rather than later is better for the state.

i stated they were opinions and assumptions. You practically said it was fact.
Just because Elites are of one species, doesnt mean there is only one army. During the whole Covenant War, Humanity was also dealing with a smaller scale war against itself. And in Glasslands Elites were split in half, Thel leading the pro-Human side, and whats-his-face leading the anti-Human side.
> EDIT: to get this back on track: what possible reasons should the elites be onboard the Infinity? What purpose do they serve in a Spartan simulation Training course with peace established?
Good point with the rest of your post.
Now, with this, there are many possibilities. One of the things could be while the elites are the enemy, they could be renegades while the main elite force is still allied with humanity. What exactly is the likely hood (Besides ONI screwing things) that the arbiter is against humanity?
Secondly, the moment ONI found out they were fighting elites again, they would have started the simulations back up.
> We’ve all run the simulations, they’re tough but they ain’t invincible.
The above quote refers to the scarab walking over them in the Mission Metropolis in halo 2. This means they have simulations on scarabs. Now, if they had simulation on scarabs, why not elites?
There could be elites in the simulator for spartans to practice against, seeing as how the elites have been the most feirce enemies the humans have fought, its likely ONI would want the spartans to be trained against killing them.
The elites in the program could be operated by AI who have analyzed elite strategy and tactics. That or they could be controlled by fellow spartans.
There are tons of possibilities, and very few reasons why they couldnt be in.
Silent
Guys im not sure anyone else has thought of this, but what if the Elites are back with the Covenant for reasons other than choice? What if somehow they were crushed by a newly rebuilt Covenant and force to join or complete genocide? thats a possibility.
But im still holding onto the Elites fought on the first level are the same ones who wanted Thel dead

This is one of my theories. They could have been attached back to the covenant, and due to their betrayal would be given less armor, worse weapons etc.

and maybe they are fed badly, resulting in under weight, less athletic Elites

Exactly, wouldnt be surprising. I mean, look at the grunts, i’m sure they werent treated very nicely after their uprising, but they were eventually forced back in.
It would make sense really.

It would. The only issue i see with the theory, is the Covenant got their -Yoinks!- kicked. how would they rebuild an army that big within 5 years? Possibly thats were the new threat comes in. they reversed engineered THEIR technology which might be supier when combined with already reversed engineered Forerunner tech.

That would make a lot of sense, nice idea!

Well what else is going to happen? There ain’t much that can come of their “relationship” now. All things point towards them being enemies. Out-of-universe, the majority of the Halo fan base want to fight the Elites again because they find it fun for game play purposes. Given how people actually managed to force Bungie to sideline the Arbiter in Halo 3, I would not bet on Thel surviving. Repost:

^There’s all that in-universe stuff as well.

I would agree, but unfortunately 343i doesn’t. There is no “Pro-Human” faction within the Elites. The Arbiter is only in power because he wants to focus on rebuilding first, and becuase of his religious views now. Many of his followers would love to watch Humanity burn.

How exactly do you know that last bit? You stated it as fact. Fact is, 343i said all books tie into the game, which means they are all canon.
In that case, the arbiter is still allied with humanity last we know.
> How exactly do you know that last bit? You stated it as fact.
By reading Glasslands, comparing their new art direction with that of Halo 2 and Halo 3, looking at how this fan base is disproportionately in favour of fighting the Elites again, and about how most players don’t care for the Arbiter. Glasslands went out of its way to belittle the concept of peace. It sort of vilified the Elites in a way. I don’t see them turning it around and suddenly basing the next book on how it is suddenly possible for them to co-exist. The theme of the novel was no forgiveness, and no forgetting. And then we see that we fight Elites in Halo 4. At this point, it is extremely unlikely, albeit not impossible, that they do not represent the Sangheili as a race.

I never said they didn’t.

Unless he is, you know, dead.
