Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

I agree with Erdu.

Wait, so starting fights over KDR, girlfriends, and irl races is better?

My my, it would appear as though my view of the world has been flawed for many years now.

Competitive multiplayer is matchmaking. They won’t be in any type of matchmaking.

And if I were making Halo 4, I wouldn’t waste time putting in a character model that can only be used in customs.

Very unfortunate.

Then I hope for the sake of us who do care about it they are not like you.

go play halo 3 and navigate through the menu. Multiplayer is NOT all competitive in that game, there is Forge, Custom games, and Social.

> Then I hope for the sake of us who do care about it they are not like you.

The “very unfortunate” part in my post wasn’t sarcasm, bud. I’ve been in the elite clans for a very long time; I like elites. But I also understand where 343i is coming from, and I would rather them focus on getting a few things perfect instead of a bunch of things passable.

> go play halo 3 and navigate through the menu. Multiplayer is NOT all competitive in that game, there is Forge, Custom games, and Social.

Actually, it mostly is. Campaign, matchmaking, customs, forge, and theater. MM is composed of ranked, social and 7 on the 7th. Ranked does not equal competitive. Competitive is the opposite of cooperative. Which in Halo means stuff that requires you to shoot/compete against other players, instead of shooting/competing with other players.

In reach though, the standard playlists category – which invasion is in I believe – is called competitive. You can choose to believe that’s what they’re talking about if you want, but it doesn’t make much sense to me because they seem to be making a point of your character carrying over from spartan ops into competitive multiplayer. You earn EXP for those things.

So if competitive MP is just the category, does that mean that because MLG and grifball are in the community category you don’t get EXP for playing them? Doesn’t make sense.

For reference

I’m disappointed with 343 right now. They decide to throw Elites out, when they looked so cool in the screenshots because all the whiney and bitchy spartans said they didn’t want them because they’re a bunch of ignorant D-bags, or because 343 was too lazy to make the Spartans taller and fix the Elites’ hitbox problem from Halo 3, which would’ve taken 5-10 minutes. Please 343, don’t stomp out the Elite community like Bungie did, time and time again.

It would probably take more time than that. First, they’d have to create all of the animations for Elites wielding weapons after they do this. Then, they’d have to adjust the maps to make do for the Spartan/Elite’s taller sizes. Afterwards, they’d have to assuage fears that headshots might be a little difficult again and then create all of the armor for Elites, even if they aren’t customizable. They’d also have to record the death sounds for the Elites and then adjust the entire canon for it to make sense. I’m probably leaving out a bunch of stuff they have to do, as well.

So, probably more than 3 minutes, or even 10 minutes.

if anyone lives near Kirkland, Washington.
it’d really help to find tyhe excat location of 343
industries so that we can send them this!

hey u cant do this 343!! please!, the elites are very important to us

that could take a month. or more

See, if we didn’t have this unnecessary pretense for multiplayer in the first place, there’d be no need to bend canon to fit Elites in, and they could be downsized or whatever to balance them out with Spartans. Bam, 90% of the problems here solved with one idea.

But no, the Spartans are still the most important, the Elites are the Robin to Master Chief’s Batman. Sad.

I play a hell lot of halo reach and to prevent myself from getting board I switch to Invasion and Fire fight verses between games. I love swat and slayer but I would love more is if they dint take out Invasion and Fire fight verses so I woulnt be stuck with the same thing.

question… How bout covanant weapons on map if there are no elites? it wouldnt fit the story if elites are not in and covanant weapons spawn

> question… How bout covanant weapons on map if there are no elites? it wouldnt fit the story if elites are not in and covanant weapons spawn

Even during the UNSC/Covenant war, ONI (the faction of UNSC that created the Infinity) had samples of Covenant weapons that they often used to train Spartans and other personnel with. I think it’s in Halo: Fall of Reach the book but i’m not sure. And after they made peace with the covenant, ONI was probably bound to get their hands on even more ordinance since there was an alliance. So, the Infinity can have Covenant weapons.

Honestly, I hope elites are in MM but I wouldn’t count on 343 to do it. Just like I don’t think we’ll have 1-50 ranks. If we were going to have either you think they’d have already mentioned them to increase the hype.

Maybe you’ll all be able to play as whatever new alien race there is. Maybe the elites weren’t included simply because they play a minimal part in the game as a whole. We don’t know anything much yet, give it time before you rrrraaaagggeeeeee
