> Any clan that calls themselves a “UNSC” or “Elite” clan is generally bad, in my experience. They focus more on making cute little forged castles to sit in than actually improving at the game.
>
> But yes, many elite clans do well in the BTB playlist. Though to me, that shows the sorry state of clans/teams more than anything else. Teamwork is not something that the elite clans are good at, y’all just happen to be slightly better at it than the vast majority of the failures in BTB. The few teams that are actually good, curb stomp every single role playing clan.
>
> Anyways, don’t take this the wrong way. I’m in an “elite” clan, and I like elites. I just happen to like being good at the game more, as does my clan/team.
I have to argue with elite clans not being good at teamwork, could you cite examples for that?
And about BTB, not a bit better. I’ve been in games where it went 100-10 or more often 100-30 and seen clan matches, so NO randoms where the endscore was 100-60/50. The few non-themed clans I have seen are multigame clans, I rarely see them being good at all apart from their attempt at trashtalk.
I’m pretty sure that there will be elites in invasion, elite slayer, custom games, forge and possibly Spartan ops. There isn’t a reason not to bring back these features so I shouldn’t worry.

Elite clan teamwork is based off of a “YES LEADER!” compound-thought mentality that originally was instilled in all of you by SG. Your clans don’t produce adaptable thinkers, they produce cannon fodder who know how to zerg a position and then sacrifice themselves so that the one or two good players on the team can get the weapons.
Which again, is a step up from most of the idiots out there, because technically it is a form of unit cohesion.
But it’s not enough to have some starting strategies and some half-map control tactics. If the individual doesn’t have the ability to perform on HIS OWN, the team will fail the instant that you come across another group that CAN perform independently.
Any bunch of dedicated fools can attack targets together. The trick is being able to move at different times and attack different targets, and still further the goals of your other teammates.
A plan is just a list of things that don’t happen. Adaptable and skilled individuals is the foundation for all good teams.
Also, 100 to 60 is an average score when one team is a little better than the other team, and 100 to 30 means that the people you were matching can’t play halo, or had a really bad game. the teams that you lose to are the ones that aren’t bad… again, don’t be mad. I’m just calling it how I see it.

I can’t help but think you’re generalizing the entire community under the banner of its ugly side. Granted, there a far from many skilled players in Elite clans, I know from experience. However, the community HAS had to make due with what they had. Some clans just allowed their members to grind their raw skills again and again, whilst there have been others that have sought to actually improve them.

This is also a generalization, and I feel your not giving enough credit to those clans who’ve put a great deal of effort into the strategic planning of their games.
The Warriors of Redemption, when I was in command of it, as well as under King K Dante’s current command, has put a LOT of time and effort into the development of individual member skill progression. It has tried to improve its members as best as it can, but like I said before, we work with what we have. In WoR mentality… Do whatever it takes to win, and act according to your circumstances. Yet, behind that mentality was heavy tactical planning and training.
The Guardians of High Charity, which have become long-gone (to my knowledge), were also one of the few Elite clans to demonstrate this.
So please, give this community SOME credit. Its not all bad.

I’ve only ever observed one other Elite clan that has actually been able to adapt adequately to most given circumstances-- though, to be honest, the last time we played the Sovereign Guard they were running around like headless chickens.
GoHC is not long gone. We just don’t talk to any of you.

The vast majority of the elite community falls under the category that I listed. I’m sure, like everything else, there are a few exceptions.

I haven’t looked into them for a few months, so I can’t speak to that.

I am a Guardian.

I think just about every community on Halo is pretty bad.
> I’ve only ever observed one other Elite clan that has actually been able to adapt adequately to most given circumstances-- though, to be honest, the last time we played the Sovereign Guard they were running around like headless chickens.
Like I said, the Elite community has is ugly side (granted, it consists of the large majority), but I don’t think the generalization is very fair.

Saying that Elite clans are trash is definitely a huge exaggeration. Yes, there are little kiddie Elite clans who run around making the community look bad. But then you have the actual Elite clans that most people don’t see. And strategies are more then point and shoot, it caters to each individuals skill and places them where they can do best. Most other clans I have seen (Spartans) just run around hoping to get kills and steal the sniper. So like Buwx said please don’t generalize the whole Elite community based on the bad part you seem to experience.
We all thought Halo Reach would be like Halo 3, play as an Elite when you want, but Bungie wanted a canon MM experience. Now 343 is saying they also want a canon MM, and even said Elites will not be available in Competitive Multiplayer. Yes, Elites will appear in Halo 4, but we won’t get to play them like we used to.

Give me names and video proof, and I’ll consider the possibility that the core elite clans are good. Until then, I have to go off of what I’ve already seen, and I haven’t seen much good from my sister clans.
It seems to me and mine that your standards are just too low.

I beg to differ. I am a commander in this clan. I have perfected my commanding over time, and I have noticed many things. One of which is that you ALWAYS have to adapt to the situation, which I make sure we do when fighting. Second, we do not put our members out as cannon fodder. I always make sure that those in my charge have the best chance of living and defeating the enemy as quickly and efficiently as possible. We always have strategies worked out in-game, and constantly give call-outs. We have beaten a team of BTB Tryhards on Hemorrhage 100-34, am I boasting? Perhaps. But I’m boasting because I am lucky to be able to serve with and lead some of the greatest warriors, and all-around good people, I’ve ever met on XBL.
how about they attack the big ship that all of the spartan IV’s are on and hack the ship… seems plausible, but hey, so is the entire premise behind spartan IVs anyway

There are a couple hundred people in BTB that are worth something. They can be hard to find.
Beating a team of eight means nothing. Beating high ranked people means nothing. I’m more interested in the games that you lose than the games that you win. How badly you lose to the best is what shows your skill. Not how badly you beat the average or “BTB tryhards”.
And anytime someone starts using the word “command” in relation to teamwork and skill… I get a little skeptical, but I won’t nitpick.
You seem like you know your stuff better than most, though. We should play sometime.

I didn’t realize that we were arguing. I’m learning a lot from this conversation.

I still think it would work well to just have some of the SpecWar elites like 'Sraom and 'Taham on the Infinity. They would be a great asset to the crew and that would give a good reason for why elites could be in the war simulations.
