You dont know that do you. No, you dont. There are at least 300 people on this forum who would by it. Look at halo 2, which is most peoples favourite. Half of the campign you play as the arbiter.
Are you so certain about the compellingness of MC? I prefer playing odst. I dont like feeling like an invincible super soldier. Its too easy. Now, ODST was fun because you played as an ODST. You were completely vulnerable.
Anyway, look at the peopleon this thread. Most of them prefer elites>spartans. That means they are more compelled to play as elites.
It might not get past the first game, but you never know. But if this were to happen, you would fight like the devil itself to get the spartans in MM, even if it made no sense.

You sure about that? Becuase i am pretty sure player 2 played as the arbiter when playing co-op in halo 3. He was still playable, just not in singleplayer. You played as him through the two most succesful halo games.
ELites have been in every game since halo 2, why take them out now?
halo 2 and halo 3 are good referals… the most succecful halo games…well, yea, it proves either of these two things…:
fans like to play as master cheif
fans like to play as elites
> > He was still playable as a player 2 model which makes your post very much false

> Co-Op might count for you but it does not in the solo campaign. Halo is a story about Spartans in the primary instance - Reach and ODST dropped it.
LOLNO. Where would halo be without the alien protaginast? How about the arbiter campign in halo 2? That was to show Arbiters backstory so we know who he was and what he did. EVeryone would be dead right now if the arbiter wasnt there. COnsidering he stopped the ring from firing, saving everyone, i doubt that halo is only about MC.
Ok, lets just foret the elites, forruners, covenant and halos ever existed. Now wouldnt that be a great game? Spartans shooting eachother. SO much fun right? Oh wait, where have i heard this before?
lol, yea, halo wouldnt be halo without aliens…but halo would not be halo if grunts were your only enemies, and halo wouldnt be halo with only sentinals…so elites are a great part of halo!!
> lol, yea, halo wouldnt be halo without aliens…but halo would not be halo if grunts were your only enemies, and halo wouldnt be halo with only sentinals…so elites are a great part of halo!!
Even with a combat simulator, elites could be added
1: There can be a covenant ship with a simulator.
2: some players take control of the Sangheili virtual models so that spartans can can train for combat situations that involve alliens.
#3 Seph we wish you could have been more active both on xbox and on the site.

Also I don’t see why they don’t have simulations where they fight elites.

oh sure…
ill be more involved on the site…but on xbox may be a slight prob…
i cant play on weekdays
I can understand why they may not be in Multiplayer. Because of Infinity and all that. But I hope they return in custom games or maybe even a classic playlist with Invasion.
I don’t play as an Elite, I play as a Spartan because I prefer them.
But I would hate to sse the Elite community be destroyed in all ways.
The Elite communties are questioning Halo 4.
But even if Elites aren’t in Halo 4’s multiplayer, I wouldn’t be suprised. It’s like putting Brutes in Halo 3’s Multiplayer.
Either way, I don’t mind. I’d alwys play as a Spartan-IV
I hate all these clans who say “Death to Elites!” or “Spartan clans are disgraceful!”
Folks, Spartans and Elites are just Avatars and appearance! Can’t we be friends?
Why add elites at all?
Do you want the Halo 2/3 elites that were just re-skinned spartan models which got cheap advantages in ranked playlist?
Or do you want Halo Reach elites, that were truly different with different abilities, weapon, vehicles, health, and everything else?
YES, we can…you could use your apperance…and we could choose ours…and we stand togrther and fight the new threat
edit: to Mactashiv
What is Mactashiv?

> The problems with adding “true” elites would be balance, how much health and shields to compensate for the bigger hitbox, not to mention having to add all covenant weapon and making them good (unlike Reach). It would mean a lot of extra work for a feature very rarely used.
> And if you want HAlo 3 elites, just get out of here. They weren’t elites, they were a crutch used by bad players in ranked and hence servers no purpose in this thread. True elites worth the name elites, or nothing.
I must point something out: The reach elites could have been exactly the same as the spartans if they were slightly scaled down. This is because they stand tall rather than hunched.

I’m with my cousins and they said they will sign too.

If you couldn’t kill an Elite, I’d say you’re the bad player. My Ranked K/D in Halo 3 was .9something, and it would be the same if I used a spartan.
@Grumbledock: People only played as elites to get an advantage in SWAT, bud. In everything else they were a slight disadvantage.
Anyways, I’m still struggling to understand why not being able to play as elites is so game breaking to so many of you.
I’ve been in the elite clans for years, and I’m far more concerned about the actual gameplay changing stuff they’re doing. Reach had a bunch of ideas that looked good on paper that ended up making the MP slightly worse than Halo 3 in nearly every aspect. And it seems to me that 343i is making the same mistakes with H4’s gameplay.
However, if my fears turn out to be unfounded, or they just drop some of these game altering changes, you better believe i’ll be playing the competitive multiplayer. Not to play it because they didn’t put in my favorite character model would be equivalent to saying that I enjoy role playing as a dinosaur on an FPS more than actually playing the FPS.
I don’t play D&D. I don’t play Shadowrun. I don’t play Warhammer. I play mother -Yoinking!- Halo.
That is all.

^^
I actually found it easier to headshot elites in swat and other game modes.

Yet, if the game lacked playable Spartans, the level of hyper-aggression would exponentially sky-rocket.
Yes, that is an extreme example, and there is more to the use of Spartans than just player models; however, when reading my statement as it is, the principle is there.
Sangheili have been a major part of Halo since Halo 2. An entire community of clans and casual gamers have spawned because of their presence, as well as an entire internet sub-culture.
I don’t mean to offend anyone, but removing Sangheili from Halo 4’s playable multiplayer would be identical to restricting users on forums from using avatars and signatures, or restricting furries from expressing themselves as their preferred personas. Did I just compare elite-fans furries? Yes, because to many people in the Sangheili community, playing as an Elite is more than just picking a set of armor, its a way of self-expression.
That is why there is such an uproar from this very small sub-culture of the Halo community, because these people have an attachment to their avatars, because most have been using them for a very, very, long time, and they do not want to lose it. Ever.
To be honest, I know its dramatic. But its the truth, and I feel 343 should at least respect that truth. Especially since the Sangheili community has been stepped on by bungie, time, and time again.
