> Um, how about they also release a stripped-down version of the map editor for the 360 version as well so people who can’t afford a ridiculously good computer can still make maps?
Far Cry 3’s console editor is fantastic enough and it would probably be superior to that anyway. Otherwise, your idea is great.
There’s already a stripped down version of the map editor, it’s called Forge. And you don’t need a super epic computer to run the editor.
> Halo is supposed to be an Xbox only title though.
Yeah… That might be the idea, but by the looks of things, I don’t think Halo is going to be selling the next Xbox.
> However, an online map maker that would allow you to port maps to Halo 4 would be astounding.
Yes, I use the Star Editor for Starcraft and Starcraft 2, the first SE didn’t have the online “File share”, which in order for you to create a map and share it with your friends, you have to have them join a game with you, upload it to some file hosting site, or put the file on a disc and give it to them. The new SE all you have to do is create the map, publish it to the public, and anyone with an internet connection can download the map and play it, and/or edit it. (That is if you didn’t protect it)
> This could open up so many wonderful possibilities. Creating the canvas online with your PC via the “Halo Map Maker” and then porting it to forge to place weapons, spawn points etc?

> Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
I know, PC gaming has been doing the custom maps for a very long time, and it’s a shame that people create forge maps, and don’t get to play on true custom maps that have been created by the community. Hell, if they made this a reality, there’d be less “There’s too much gray” complaints, and people will be able to create maps that they feel fit the game much more. Hell, I’ve played some Custom Halo maps back in Halo Custom Edition that make most of the community favs like Blood gulch, lock out, and a few others look like crap.
Halo has a great idea with the File Share system, and the file share system Halo has doesn’t feel like a feature that should be limited to a Xbox only title. Hell, it’d make a lot of people happy if there was a PC version of the current Halo game that uses the same file share, people with programs like Fraps could record saved films for people, there wouldn’t be a huge need for capture cards. All people would need is to know someone who has a good PC with some kind of recording program, and bam, problem(s) solved.
