I personally am failing to recall a open world FPS Sandbox without Loadouts
Battlefield Bad Co. 2 had a loadout menu at crates and stuff
Ghost Recon has it, Far Cry lets you change on the fly in their latest poo-stain
I know Halo is not known for Loadouts, and that name/word has been ruined by CoD fans, making everyone hear loadout they think CoD
NOW, OFC, the only reason I am thinking of this, is:
- Sandbox Game, if we want more ways to approach Objectives, being able to swap weapons (at certain points) would be a good way to give us more options
- Just feels weird, to me, to think of a post 2020/2021 Sandbox Open World FPS without Loadouts. NOT SAYING IT NEEDS IT FOR PvP. PVP is the best it has been since Halo Reach.
- if they add any weapons in post-launch (like a DMR, SMG, SSMG, ODST’s Magnum, a Magnum, classic Shotgun, the LMG from H4 and H5…)
Then a Loadout system would mean that they wont be locked to PvP and Forge, and they could work them into the Main game.
Anyway, My idea is this:
(-) They could make it so that when you launch you can swap weapons, ONLY UNSC weapons, since MC would have access to those. You could also swap at crashed UNSC Ships, or UNSC Crates around the map(s) (I heard the game is open world but with many locations).
SIMILAR they could also do similar but lock Banished weapons to Banished Crates and wrecks or whatever… Idk if there are any, but it makes sense speaking Zeta Halo has had a war on it, I expect wrecks…
(-) OR they could lock it to New Game+, cause IDK how they are going to make missions re-playable like the Old Halo since the old Halo is very linear, fun, but linear, not as linear as CoD, but still Linear… (how many more times should I say Linear… HAHA).
They could give players the ability to chose what we want to use
which would also work well for Co-Op (either way it is implemented, if it is implemented) cause then you could take roles if you wanted to. Much like in Halo 5, where each player started with different weapons, but instead giving the player the choice to say
I want a Sniper and the BR for this objective. or like I was saying with friends in Co-Op, Ill be Sniper, you be CQC or whatever they want.
I am as against Halo turning into CoD as any Halo Fan, but if this is the “Biggest Halo Ever” I do expect it to have some new parts to it, and a Loadout for the Campaign… just feels right, cause I am thinking, it worked in the old halos to be able to just run around and take weapons from the enemy, and you could still do that
but for those of us who like the idea of being able to pick what weapons we want to us, or stick to just using UNSC weapons, this works for both parties.
IF you don’t like it, you do not have to use it. Just like in any game.
Any other ideas for a Loadout, or why it could or wouldn’t work, I’m interested in others opinions,
this is just how I am thinking
cause I am mostly worried that they will add weapons post launch, and they will get stuck to PvP and Forge, like it did in halo 5.
But unlike CoD adding weapons post game, people mainly play Zombies, PvP and Warzone where ALL the weapons are available.
in halos case, the story is actually good, so I am just thinking about the PvE/Story players, and a sandbox without a full arsenal is
half a job well done imo (half butt? I cant swear so I hope some gets it).
I hope they are planning on adding a few more weapons to the game before the launch in like 55 days
cause, the armory so far feels… short handed… no DMR, or LMG, or some of the mainstays… I do hope 343i is working on some more tools of destruction
I mean, I like the UNSC weapons more than the Covenant and Banished so far, always have, always will, and it feels weird to only have 8 UNSC weapons so far in the entire armory. I also have made 3 or 4 posts about how they could add the old Shotgun or Magnum with the new Pistol and Bulldog and keep it all balanced. So, I wont be stating that again.
