Well I like Halo 4, sort of, but like many other players there is something missing. I was really experienced with Halo 3, even had a 50 in MLG. So from a veteran’s point of view here is my take.
The good part is that the BR and DMR are cleaned up. They hit consistently and “eating bullets” no longer occurs like it did in Halo 3.
Now for the bad.
Every time I’m about to get a killing spree something happens:
-
A guy with a jetpack flys above the map killing me while I’m one shot behind a wall. In Halo 3 I’d do a “ring around the Rosie” with the guy till my shields recharged. In MLG I’d get team shotted to death.
-
A guy sitting with camo sniper across map kills me. I normally would put shots on the guy but I can’t even see them, so I get no chance to defend myself. In halo 3 camo was temporary and a timed pickup, meaning you had to earn it. Even then you could camp out the minute it lasted.
-
I’m about to beat someone down or shotgun them when I get bolt shotted to death. It wouldn’t be that frustrating if it was a pickup but it is a secondary so you can count on everyone to have one.
But above all there is no ranking system. Because of this I can’t count on my teammates to team shot or go for objective at all. I just played a ball game where everyone was “babysitting” the ball and refusing to pick it up. I try to roll with teammates but they usually bug out and do god knows what.
Before someone accuses me of not adjusting to the new play style I just want them to know that I have. I have over a 2.0 K/D and equiped myself with a camo and jetpack class both with a boltshot. I continue to go for the objective and the “win” even if it messes up my K/D. Halo should not be this way, it just doesn’t feel right.
Hopefully people read this and continue to go for the “win,” it is what made Halo a superior game.
See you on the battlefield,
