> Before Slayer Pro we always got either Ragnarok or Exile, and people complained and complained and again complained that they don’t get to play the other maps. Now when Meltdown and Vortex get chosen, people want to play Ragnarok and Exile. We need some variety we can’t just play the same maps all the time. It’s actually good that they decided to throw in Slayer Pro, it brought some variety to the maps too and also better, funnier vehicle combat. Don’t complain, play the game like everyone else did when you got to play Ragnarok and Exile all over again. For Settler I agree with you, but I agree it’s a bit better after the weapon tuning, but I still don’t like that map. If a map doesn’t suit you, get back out of the lobby and find another game.
Why should we have to put up with poor map selection at all? Is 343 so inept they can only load up 5 maps for BTB? And then they manually have to reset it each week? WHY is this so hard for them to fix in the 8+ months since the game has been released?
And while I’m soapbox ranting, why only 3 choices in the Lobby? If they are going, to force us to play 2 game types under one slot, surely they have some programmer who can modify the interface to either add a “None of the Above” to pick other maps or more rationally, more map choices per vote. Did none of the programmers play H3. ODST or Reach when they designed the GUI?
The mind boggles at just how broken Halo has become under 343’s stewardship. They had CE Anniversary to take it apart and learn how a good game works and is released - and yet the bungled H4. They have the code for Reach, Halo 3 and Halo ODST and yet playing multi player is an exercise in futility. The host selection is now pure garbage - they only look at the lowest SR ranked players (ie. newbs) for host. If you ever were host and one or more players had host issues you are now excluded from being host.
How do I know this about Host? Next time your in Wargame lobby waiting for the game to start, press the “X” button. The first name in the list that appears to your right is Host. You will see that the host will almost always be assigned to the bottom 1/4 of the people with the lowest SR.
As a real example, here’s what happened last night. I Played H4 War Games BT and Spartan ops with my nephew, who is SR 10 and bought the game last week. My nephew has wireless internet on a rural farm in Western Canada (400 miles east of me) - his ping times are 250+ ms 2 mbps download and < 0.5 mbps upload rates. He pulled host for all the 16 player BT games we played (he was the lowest SR player on the list too) and was was getting + 12 kills - deaths. The Lag was atrocious in these games and people were strobing all over the place. Then we played Spartan Ops Co-Op, where he also pulled host. I have ADSL with a direct Ethernet connection, 8 ms ping times (less than 70 ms across the USA and Canada), 50 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload and yet he was picked as host. Is 343 really this incompetent at selecting hosts ? No - it’s by design so that new players can get lots of kills and buy a Gold XBL Membership to keep playing.
I frankly can not wait to see what Destiny looks like at E3 and in November of this year.
