Same hexagons on coliseum as in infinite.

Any correlations?

Can you post a screenshot to what you’re referring to?

Don’t know how, but just look to the outside and your see the same stuff on zeta halo. The hexagonal pillars.

Possibly. It’s hard to say whether that was intentional or not.

The hexagonal pillars are I think a common volcanic phenomenon? Not entirely sure, but they are something that naturally occurs (although Forerunner creations do simulate nature).

Many science-fiction series and video games use hexagons because they are associated with futuristic technology, but also from an artistic viewpoint: the hexagon is a “cool” looking shape. It could just be a coincidence that hexagonal geometry is present in both games, but it could also be deliberate given that the map Coliseum and Halo Infinite both take place in Forerunner environments, or it could be both since hexagon-shaped formations do exist in the real world and are a product of nature.

Yes you are correct about hexagonal pillars - they are a form of basalt.

Also you have raised an interesting point about how the Forerunners simulated nature. Though most of the environments/biomes on the Installations are artificial there are also areas that were created through natural means. It is not impossible that certain rock bodies that we see are the product of weathering over a long period of time for example; though maybe not the basalt columns.

Well these are some good answers for a basic question. Thanks.

It’s called Columnar jointing and is found on all continents, and even on Mars. They aren’t limited to being made from basalt, but that’s what the most famous example is made from (the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland).

Maybe those are the patterns used by the forerunners, aesthetics and style, but it can be the same of other rings, remember that all of them have the same structure, although in the graphics it is not noticeable.

I don’t think that was intentional.
