Hi Halo 4 Community,
The Saints Row 3 Penthouse Map was originally designed by Jolt X Crysis around a month ago, which looks extremely well done! There are pools, helipads, purple party lights, and much more in this Saints HQ replica; in fact, over 500 people already downloaded his map. The design looks really professional, you really need to check it out to believe it! He deserves a lot of credit for the great work.
Using his map, I added a few grav lifts, chairs, columns, and mongooses, but more importantly, I fitted the map for the Hivemind gametype. I designed this gametype specifically for 10-16 players, because 3 players start out as flood during the beginning of each round.
In addition to adding in the initial ordnance (AR, magnum, plasma pistol, sniper rifle, energy sword, spartan laser), I added in timed, random ordnance drops every 15 seconds. These random drops include most weapons (no fuel rod cannons), all grenade types, speed/damage/overshield boosts, and the regeneration armor ability. The randomization of weapon drops makes each game different and fresh. Remember, random ordnance drops mean any ordnance (i.e. suppressor) can drop more than once during each round… 3 minutes of hivemind gives us 12 random ordnance drops for each round.
The random ordnance drops encourage movement around the map, instead of camping. When a good weapon drops (mostly located near the flood spawning location), the flood can booby trap the ordnance, leading to an easy flood conversion.
While the roof may seem like a good place to hide, there are actually 3 ways to get up there, so be careful! The flood spawns closer to the roof, so they can actually control the roof at the beginning each round. There are many ways to drop down from the roof onto the first and second floors, so be careful (your radar may not help as much).
There are plenty of rooms to explore during Hivemind, such as the kitchen, bedroom, etc. Notice all the detail that has been put by the map creator, since you can see purple artwork/architecture everywhere around the map.
The mongooses in the map are for added fun; you probably won’t escape the flood in one… but there is another use for the mongooses… the obstruction of the grav lifts, which is an advanced strategy, assuming you can get to the mongooses before the flood convert you.
Anyways, feel free to test it out and/or send me suggestions for improvements or general comments. You can test it out with both my gametype “Hivemind for Saints Row 3 Map” and the default Hivemind gametype from 343.
I hope you all enjoy the map, and feel free to share with friends and the community! Hopefully it’ll be featured on the flood playlist someday!
