This can be said for just about any video game in recent years that’s come up with a “10 year plan.” The industry cannot know what’s going to be popular and unpopular in 10 years. But in the case of Infinite, I can see this going the way of Call of Duty: Vanguard, just a stepping stone to the next, better game. Except Halo’s not a yearly franchise, so I don’t know what’s going to happen.
I’ll be honest, I think the Battle Pass is brimming with stuff. It’s not very good stuff, and I’m appalled by the fact that left and right shoulderpads are considered two seperate items (there’s no excuse to not have a “hide/change pauldron option” anymore), but there is stuff there. It’s certainly no CoD or Halo: MCC seasonal stuff though, and I’ve said before that the weekly store is bafflingly worse than Anthem’s.
I’ll concede this point to Call of Duty, especially when those games require upfront fees, but this doesn’t really excuse Halo. They could do with speeding up their experimentation with the store, which should’ve been done in beta.
I’ve experienced worse, but yes, desync and latency are hard to avoid. It’s a good job leaving matches isn’t as harshly punished as those in the MCC while this is being fixed.
I like the Battle Pass only because I’ve paid for it, but even then I’m not far from completing it. After that, I’ve no reason to log into this game over MCC where I’ve tons of progression I can catch up on. And while I can play for fun, I’m not going to have another 80-odd days of fun if there’s no reason for me to do the events.
It’s bad but the hyperbole is unnecessary. I’d rather have someone throwing games than shouting racist and sexist abuse or doxxing me.
To improve it I would say that it needs to encourage teamplay and playing the objective, rather than pursuing kills and trying to end matches more quickly to get the most use out of the Double XP buff.
I wouldn’t say these teams are the same, nor are the timespans for their changes.
I haven’t played Halo 5 so I can’t comment, but I agree that the F2P model is not good so far. Xbox division seem to have quite a lot of difficulty nailing their live (dis)service games, I won’t lie.
I’m not sure which game this is referring to. If it’s the MCC, I agree, I genuinely don’t know what happened for this one to come about.
In fact, I think I do. I think the leadership behind this have seen its competitors and copied it, without understanding how or why it does or doesn’t work for that game. It’s quite a consistent problem with Infinite’s content out-of-sessions. The store, the battle pass, experience, customisation, events, challenges… it exists because it’s what other successful games do.
