I keep hearing 343i is making 6 more (4-9) and sometimes I hear 3 (4-6).
Also on the back of the Halo 4 case, it states that it is the beginning of the new Saga. So is it true they are making a sage which is 6, or a new trilogy? I would love for 6 more!
(More Games)
It could just mean more novels, comic books, web series, or spin-offs, but I’m not too sure.
I don’t think saga has any definitive number. Otherwise, where’s our other 3 forerunner novels?
They meant Saga as in Game Saga. Halo 4 was the beginning of the Reclaimer Saga, which will be continued by Halo 5: Guardians. Everything else outside of the games, ties into the games. And they didn’t want to limit the story to just three games which is why they changed it from Trilogy to Saga. So the number of games there will be now is unknown, though it can be assumed that, including Halo 4, there will be more than 3.
Here’s What we Know for Now: While Halo 4 was originally meant to kick off the “Reclaimer Trilogy” for the series, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer says it won’t be limited to a trilogy.
“While we originally said trilogy, we’ve actually expanded this to more of a saga,” Spencer told GameSpot, “so we don’t want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy.” Spencer declined to specify whether the Xbox One Halo title was Halo 5 proper or a spinoff of sorts, opting instead to say that it’s “a legitimate version of Halo” Microsoft will detail in the future. - IGN Article

My Thoughts: If this is true, and/or they decide to not change their minds, then the Halo series would definitely be considered a saga. However, the fact that Spencer(Person Interviewed) said that they would be expanding it to more of a saga really puzzles me. If they were a 100% going to expand the Halo universe then why did he mention that? I do realize that people say things to purposely throw people off, but why would they wan’t that to be a secret? I think I’m getting a little carried away so I’ll end it off with a “I’m not sure” answer.
A story should take however long it takes to tell it well…
I’d rather a saga, personally… trilogies are becoming blase, especially when they follow up a previous trilogy. But a hexology doesn’t have quite the same ring (or marketing freshness) I suppose.
