40 hours long that’s along the lines of Red Dead redemption 2s story lol
Ok I know I’ve said that people are feeling a bit ripped off with the campaign being $60 but if the campaign is 40 hours long I think it’s worth the $60 without the multiplayer I still think though you should get some multiplayer aspects from buying the campaign like at least give us some armors or something or better yet maybe for completing the campaign on legendary if that’s still a thing you give us Master Chief’s armor like in Halo 4
Not really. Halo historically used p2p networking for its online during the xbox years. There is zero servers involved. Its someone having to shoulder the burden of everyone in a match on their connection and its the biggest reason why xbl launched requiring no less than a broadband connection.
Also not all mp is online or uses a server. Consider not just halo custom games are hosted on a local machine (more or less a listen server) and going further there is no server if played offline.
Games as a service will always be garbage because eventually those services if discontinued won’t allow you to access the game. And if you’ve paid money to whether have a copy of the game or buy items. Well you’re SoL. Its why private servers primarily exist. Because certain games have iterations that you can no longer access or experience.
You can’t argue that paying $20 for an armor set in a franchise where historically armor, aside from those included in dlc, is traditionally free is ridiculous. And yeah if you don’t like it don’t buy it, I only spent $20 on the game with credits for the pass and am getting SP free, but if they can get away with stuff like that what else are they gonna do?
Oh the subscription paywall that let’s you play not just Halo but all online games? Hm. Wow. Dlc that didn’t make the game feel complete but actually feel added??? Wow.
Base game without online you still had Campaign, Multiplayer in custom games, theater and forge. Like where are you going with this? Odst and beyond? Includes a new mode called Firefight.
All this “adding later” nonsense needs to stop when it comes to staple game modes, playlists and other features. This is sad. You guys keep validating scumbag practices like this. And for what? Cause you think no one would pay money for Halo? ITS HALO!!! not an indie title. It was going to sell regardless. Even Halo 5 sold alot, but like Halo 4 the momentum died down, SO SO FAST. What do you think will happen with this Halo with all simple stuff not even being available?
Look at Metroid Dread, a one and done $60 paid. Yet everything Metroid is known for is there, AND MORE SO.
Come on over to Canada. Game cost me $91 after taxes. Plus $12 for that battle pass.
Tho you are correct with the gas price. Atm it costs about $120 to fill my truck up too.
IT shouldn’t be acceptable PERIOD. crap mentality and CONSOOMERS are slowly destroying every hobby and telling companies it’s ok to completely bastardize things
PS1 gen was $50, PS2/Xbox was the start of $60. Honestly it speaks more to our failing economic system that we can’t appropriately price a good because it would be too expensive for the target audience. I would easily pay $100 if it meant the game felt rewarding to play. I mean I bought a Valve Index to play Half Life: Alyx, if that’s any indicator.
Of course, Microsoft probably hopes you get the campaign through Game Pass instead. Yeah, it’s cheaper at first, but that’s a potentially recurring payment that will make more than a one time $60 purchase in the long run. Why do you think they are offering unlockables through the GP version too?
They just sprinkled some armor coatings and emblems, not even helmets, nor armor…
This is our life now, we live in a world where corporate people ruin games with excessive microtransactions and [REDACTED] practices.
YOURE RIGHT! I didn’t know how that game pass worked, but now I know. So the only option is the one time payment of 60 or wait for a sale. I kinda just want to be done with infinite and not come back so I’ll just get the campaign, see if it’s good or not and then be out. Cause the multiplayer is hollow.
the truth is games simply don’t cost $60 anymore. budgets are higher, dev time is longer, profit margins are lower. the price of games should’ve gone up drastically a decade ago.
so now game studios are releasing games for $60 and selling you the completed product via mtx, instead of having you pay more money upfront for a finished game. its an annoying system but unfortunately has been working in their favor for years.
Greater production costs.
Inflation.
A far larger single player experience.
Day one gamepass.
Cant we put our energy towards topics that need attention.
Rather than bemoan the most accessible halo to date for being the cheapest and most widely accessible launch in the franchises history
