Which cutscenes in the Halo games did you find very sad?
The cutscene where Cortana supposedly died.

Yup this one’s gonna take the cake. But two other cut scenes are in the running: Johnson’s death and Miranda’s death in H3. What puts Cortana’s death scene over the top is the fact that the other two deaths are cut short by impending doom for the Chief. The player barely gets any time to experience that loss, whereas the Cortana death scene is followed up by an entire scene dedicated to Chief’s reaction to her death.
The saddest scene was the death of Emile according to me

The end of Halo: Reach. The music really pulled at my emotional strings with that one. Heck, it’s so impactful it generated that age-old debate on if he’s alive or not. Some to this day still hold the frowned upon side of that debate. Personally I am slightly optimistic about it, but I keep it to my personal canon only of course.
Chief losing Cortana. Before that it was finding out no one survived the original Pillar of Autumn at the end of Halo 1, it’s the music that gets me.
