If we want to show 343 that we really want changes to Arena, just stop playing it. We’ve tried tweeting bs angel, we’ve tried making threads and saying what we want. It hasn’t worked. If you want changes, stop playing Arena so they finally realise that we want changes, or else you’re part of the problem.

People know that the Arena playlist exists? Much less play it?
I say this because whenever people start -Yoinking!- about Reach’s ranking system, they never mention Arena at all, instead only going on about the cR ranks and how they got matched up against Inheritors.
I’ve posted here and in the Reach forum. I would encourage anyone who sees this thread to tell their Arena friends about it. Do you really care about getting Onyx any more? No, of course you don’t. No one does with Arena’s awful settings as they are. So tell your kids, tell your wives, and tell your husbands (cause we need to boycott arena in lincoln park)
Again, I stopped playing it when they took Needle Rifles and Doubles out.
Does it still have DMR/AR starts? I’d come back if it was DMR/Mag with no Jetpack/Jetpack pickups.
You don’t even need a petition. At this point it is automatic. The playlist is terrible.

That would probably be the worst decision to make unfortunately. 343 mistook the lack of players in the Squad DLC list as a sign to get rid of it. Arena would surely follow in the same footsteps rather than getting much needed changes.
I’d suggest we direct all of our focus to the thread I made regarding Season 11. This is because through pressure from the community on the forums rather than their lack of attendance in the playlist I feel we will be able to get the answer we are seeking.
I can conclude at this point in 343’s takeover that we are in fact being ignored but I don’t understand to what end. Are they making drastic changes or are they scrapping the playlist? I for one would love to know and am tired of waiting…

“Due to the lack of popularity for the Arena playlists, we have decided to remove it.”
This has been 343’s plan all along: make it suck so much that they have an excuse to get rid of it.

Pretty much all good Arena players stopped playing Arena awhile ago. Like 2-3 seasons ago at least.
It’s needed changes for a long time. Other playlists need also have the Arena system as well. The game needs to stop being 99.9% social.

I could see that happening as well but that would be completely “derpy”. It has such a terrible population for a number of reasons, poor settings and a lack of fixing said settings are only one of them.
They don’t seem to care.
If I’d be you, I would stop playing it and see if anything happens.
At this point I think arena (and a LOT of other playlists) is getting ignored so halo 4 multiplayer will look better by comparison. Let’s not forget this is the first halo not made by bungie. I don’t expect change. Surely they would’ve said something by now (S11 starts tomorrow). Not like I played arena a lot this season anyway, but I will boycott.

Sorry to break the news but Halo Reach was indeed made by bungie. And if I don’t see changes made to season 11 of arena tomorrow I’m done with arena permanently.
Sorry, I was continuing a thought from the previous sentence. I was referring to halo 4 being the first one not made by bungie. All signs point to 343 sabotaging reach to make halo 4 look better. The TU says “Bungie doesn’t understand halo, we do”. Ignoring playlists (lack of forged maps, changes to arena, only one ranked playlist), not enforcing DLC and cutting reach’s lifespan from 3 years to 2 says “reach is beyond saving, just wait for halo 4”. It’s sad.
They may be changing it, we just do not know yet.I still have hope.
Guys just hold out until tomorrow’s update and see if Arena is mentioned.
Arena Ranking Format needs to be changed first.
No one is going to ever know how terrible the Arena is if they avoid the playlist simply because they don’t want to be forced into playing X number of games there within Y number of days.
Remove this barrier to entry, and people will play Arena. Once people see how bad it is, but like the ranking mechanic… they’ll ask for change, and for once Arena will have a population worthy of receiving attention.

Those are two very different things, ya know?
Also, Saying What You Want doesn’t necessarily mean it should be or has to be done.
In the end, it’s 343’s decision to do whatever they please.

People waiting for Arena changes have been ‘holding out’ for several months now… I am not comforted in the least by waiting anymore. Every Bulletin that comes out completely side steps any mention of Arena and instead favours the social playlists like Invasion when they hint to big changes coming to it. Invasion has about the same population as Arena at most times and I agree it is in desperate need of changes but why the favouritism?
I’m sure as hell that there are more people who would start playing Arena again if the settings were better whereas with Invasion it’s going to be the same casual kids playing it. If they’;re aiming at getting some of the population back then why not focus on the pinnacle that has always held Halo above other games. A ranking system…
Before I get flamed by casual kids who say “Reach does have ranks”. It does not. That shiny inheritor rank you hold onto so dearly does not in fact prove you are good. It proves you play a lot so congratulations. Come talk to me when you can Reach single digit Onyx in any Arena season…

After 6 months of asking for some change or some even recognition that there needs to be change, I’m sure it’s not the latter. Arena settings suck and continuing to play them will make 343 think they’re fine and that they don’t need updating. We’ve tried just sucking up the poop flavoured kool aid and slurping down the hopes that 343 will make changes. Nada. So we need to take a different approach, and I say we stop playing Arena. With the current gaping flaws in it, it shouldn’t mean that much to anyone by now anyway.

Could work and it would be interesting to see what kind of population drop Arena would experience with an effective boycott?
I keep feeling like something will be announced and still feel like something will happen soon =/ hopefully.
