Hey guys and gals, something that’s been playing on my mind since the introduction of the S-IV’s in Halo 4. ODST’s are pretty much useless now that so many S-IV’s have been introduced. I mean, why send in a squad of ODST’s when you can send a S-IV fireteam who will most likely be far more effective. Just seems to me that with so many S-IV’s our beloved ODST’s are being made redundant. Let me know what you guys and gals think. Sorry if there has already been a thread about this.

I’ve wondered this too - I suppose the answer is that even though it’s cheaper and easier to produce Spartans, and MJOLNIR, than it’s ever been before, it’s still a relatively small overall candidacy group from amongst all the UNSC. There’ll always still be a place for ODSTs.
I hope your right, it was awesome kicking butt in reach with some ODST’s.
The same reason Navy SEALs don’t erase Army Rangers from existence. They each serve a purpose.
Spartan > ODST > Marine They all still have their place!

True, thought then again I believe the 75th Ranger Regiment can out preform the SEAL teams in certain aspects haha…
There are just a LOT of ODST around compared to spartans even after S-IV and yeah I don’t think it’s a problem.
ODSTs are still far more available than S-IVs. The Spartans probably number in the thousands, with ODSTs being in the hundreds of thousands, maybe over a million depending on how many people survived the war.

I don’t know about hundreds of thousands of ODST’s, tens of thousands is more likely. There’s probably over a few million marines out there though.
After watching the opening of H5 i dont know what they have anything other than SIVs
The UNSC should actually shoot SIV and enemy ships instead of using rail guns.
ODST’s are the farm team for the Spartan IV program. You’v got to have college ball in order to keep the pro’s interesting 
Just because Spartans are superior in a direct firefight doesn’t mean ODST’s don’t have a role to play. They’re likely FAR less attention grabbing than their heavily-armored compatriots.

AS the Chief said in the Halo Experience video, Spartans were created as a weapon of last resort, when you cant send anyone else send in the Spartans
