RVB world war.

So I had this idea of a global competition. it actually is’t anything major, despite the name I came up with it.

When the game comes out, and you go into matchmaking for the first time, you are given an option to pick a preferred team you would want to start on, red or blue, or unchanged. aty the bottom of screen in the pregame lobby, there is a bar that tells you which side is winning the battle.

battle bar

this bar changes on the outcome of every game that only has these two teams in match making. So if red and blue play around 100 games, and red wins 75 of them, the bar changes to reflect how red team is doing in the global battle. The same can be said for blue team.

This little competition can go on for a few months, and which ever side has the largest percentage will win at the end of it’s cycle. Every member on that winning side will be given a large credit or spartan point prize, and maybe an achievement for being on the winning side. After that, the game resets back to 50 50, and it starts over again, and everyone will once again be given the option to pick a team.

Like I said, it’s nothing major, it’s just something for players to look at and try to help out with, or achieve as the play the game, sort of like challenges in reach. Most casual players will like little gimmicks like these because it gives them the feeling that they are contributing to something on a global scale.

And if players from both sides want to play on a team, then they can. this option wont prevent them from doing so, it’ll simply temporarily place the team of players in the unchanged option.

Thoughts?

gimmicky but interesting. I wonder how much processing power this would require? I’d rather have dedicated servers than this but it is a fun idea and I would be happy to see this in Halo 4.

Not much compared to the processing power reach uses to keep track of every shot fired, or grenade thrown in every live game ever played. this just keeps track of the wins and losses.

Also maybe only have this apply to only social game types so it wont screw around with the matching system in ranked ones.

wait what if there is alot of people on one side but not as much on the other.

make a balance option if it becomes too unbalanced.

Make sure this is limited to a playlist though before I go on.

I came up with an idea like this a while ago except instead of just counting total win losses it counted the total amount of win’s and losses on each map. Check it:

Let’s take seven maps: The Pit, Valhalla, High Grounds, Blood Gulch, Guardian, Ivory Tower, and Avalanche (Sidewinder).

BLUE controls: The Pit, Valhalla, High Grounds and Blood Gulch because they have more total wins on those specific maps than RED’s do.

RED controls: Guardian, Ivory Tower, and Avalanche because they have more total wins on that map than BLUE’s do.

This way it seems more like a battle. When players are voting for maps they are most likely voting for maps that their army doesn’t control. This way even if RED has more wins than BLUE, BLUE controls more maps so BLUE wins. Just requires a little more strategy. Then after a three month season the winning side get’s 250,000 SP for each soldier on that side.

It would be cool also that after a season ends there is a few days “cool-down” and while it’s in effect players get to view a “status record” of the previous season like: Players killed, shots fired, vehicles destroyed, cost (give each spartan, weapon, vehicle, bullet, etc as cost and total it up), and maybe a few other cool features.

Might not make sense though because 343 is trying to keep the multiplayer related to canon.
