Rushing is BS.

The tier system in this game is absolutely awful.
1.) Rangers are an anti-infantry unit, and rushes are usually just infantry. However the rangers are a tier 2 unit.
2.) Brutes overpower turrets so quickly they are made 100% redundant.
3.) Jack rabbits are still ridiculous.
Everything in the game is made to encourage rushes, but that isn’t fun at all. I play for the long game, yet there are so many ways for the game to end in under 2 minutes.

Do you play other RTS games?

UNSC has flamethrowers to counter brutes and Covenant have suicide grunts. Choppers also are good if you can micro them well.

In RTS you have early, mid, and late game strategies. Rushing is the most common of RTS strategies because you are able to stop your opponent from doing what they intend early game. Rushing isn’t BS - it IS RTS.

I assume your playing banished since you brought up rangers. You need to build the proper counter to the rush. if you see UNSC infantry heading towards your base then suicide grunts, turrets, and teching will shut it down hard. Jack rabbits can be held by turtling up, getting to tech 2, and then over powering them with your choice of tier 2 unit. Brute cheese is a new viable rush but still easy to beat. Since they are a mele unit and tend to group up, suicide grunts will slaughter them (it only takes 2-3 to roflstomp most of them). Even though it seems like you hate rushing I would recommend you try out some of these rushes for yourself to find out where there strengths and counters are. You may be surprised to find out how vulnerable some of these tactics are when your using them against a skilled opponent.

Trying out strategies that you wouldn’t normally use is one of the best ways to learn in this game. First time I got shut down by masses of suicide grunts made me laugh so damn hard but it’s a good counter! I used to think locusts were unbeatable until I played against someone who used really good unit grouping and drop in units to close me down.

I see you have been complaining all over the forums about things that actually aren’t broken. I saw that you had been losing lately and I took a look at your build order. You never build a unit before 2:45 and your first unit is always Atriox Chosen. You will lose against any decent player with this opener. Jackrabbits are not strong anymore. If you built units earlier you would find that your games would start lasting longer.

Don’t blame the game, blame your build order.

I don’t find it that tough to handle since redline rabbits got nerfed. I used to hate rushing, still do to an extent, but you just have to learn to adapt in order to keep playing as it is an rts after all.

Command and conquer throughout my childhood. Generals and Zero Hour are the perfect archetype of RTS’s.

You are the guy that exploited Kinsano until she was nerfed. You were the problem when you were turret drop rushing non stop for a month. You don’t find being rushed being a problem because you relentlessly rush others with overpowered leaders. You need to turn your brain on, use empathy, self reflect, and acknowledge when a rush is too dominate.
I use Atriox often and I can openly admit he is overpowered when he finally gets leveled up, however there is skill leveling him up. Rushing with Jackrabbits and flamers, dropping a turret, and sweeping an opponent in 2:30 mins is not skill. Its just you exploiting issues the developers did not catch.

Dude just stop complaining. If you don’t like it, don’t play the game. Either adapt or leave.

What the game became is not what is was suppose to be. Why am I crazy for addressing that Halo Wars was always fun because of the late game gameplay. I have adapted, whats wrong with being decent and still addressing issues?
Turrets need a buff to prevent rushes. How is that a controversial thing to address? There are weird tier issues, why is that wrong to address?
I am not complaining just to complain. There are issues that people agree exist, so why not talk about it.

I don’t know, it seems to me that you are just getting your strategy countered and you’re upset about it. If someone preparing for the late game without scouting what their opponent is doing then a rush seems like the smartest move. I feel that if your scouting properly you can easily see a rush coming and prepare accordingly.

I mean if we as a community didn’t voice our concerns and just accepted the game as it shipped, it would still be nothing but Andres sentinel spam.

Turrets do prevent bad rushes. But turrets alone shouldn’t be enough to completely fend off a well organized rush.

I think everything you have said here is short sighted except for the brutes. I personally don’t see why anything that is specifically made as a building killer should be tech 1. Furthermore, I don’t see why they should also receive a mine ability on top of a stun ability. They seem to be way to proficient for their cost. I can see wanting to have a reason for players to use a unit, but this seems excessive.

Dude if you play Atriox you are literally BUILT for turtling and smashing a rush. Fortifications for the first leader point, build turrets and use the extra supplies to build units. Plasma mines for the second leader point, plop that down as many times as you can around your base if you see a rush coming. Congratulations, you just smashed a rush and are now in the lead.

You cannot stop a UNSC rush anymore. Flamers, sniper, and marines are too good compared to the counterparts on the banished side. If it wasn’t for snipers I would say you are right but they tip the scales too much.
P.S: even with the fortification upgrade the UNSC has time to pump out 5 flamers, 3 snipers, and ten marines in the same time with the same resources as it takes to build 4 turrets with the war council upgrade.

Oh dear god buddy, I’m sorry but the rushes are fine, you are just really really bad and choosing to whine instead of asking for advice and tips to beat the rush. Guess what buddy, you keep choosing to whine about “rushes” instead of learning to combat them like the rest of us have you will stay bad.

I see 2 giant, huge, -Yoinking!- glaring flaws in the way you are playing from your post.

1 the UNSC units aren’t superior, not even close, they are weaker honestly. Sure unit to unit they win, but population to population banished wins in a landslide, we simply overwhelm them with sheer numbers that they can’t compete with. 3 marines will beat 3 grunts everytime. However 30 pop grunts will beat 30 pop marines everytime. Your not building anywhere near enough early game population, your goal needs to be to be at 80 pop in 8 minutes or less.

2 dear god buddy 4 turrets right off the bat is a waste, not to mention 4 turrets is a waste period. Only build 2 turrets, put them in the front 2 slots. That with your defending army assuming you fallow tip 1 will push off the rush. For your back slots later on a watch tower and sheild generator are much better than just 2 more turrets.

You want to see late game? You want to play long games? Following just these 2 tips that I have spelled out for you will get you there, as long as you chose to listen and learn to do it instead of whining, because whining won’t make you better.
